Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Here me out, sorry if someone has already asked/said this.

What if in the 2 vs 8, instead of the killers working together, how about scoring points? picking them off in a vs? sorta like freddy vs jason in a sense, I don't know it may or may not work I could be speaking mad, just sort of wondered, Also alas wondering a battle royal with the survs now lol

I feel like if you wanted them to work separately from each other, your best bet would be to have it setup as 2 teams of 4 survivors and a killer. This'll have survivors try to have more gen repair than the other team. You can help out your team by bodyblocking the OTHER team to aid or interfere in chases.

Uhm no, best killer wins? like on hooks or downs or something?

Which would just result in killstealing. Imagine following a Deathslinger around and getting the M1 anytime they shoot someone.

Like at the end of the match what different happened compared to a standard 2v8? Did two killers not hang up on one survivor to secure a kill? So the both not attempt to kill as many survivors as they possibly can during the match? @lordglint at least had a unique idea maybe even depending on the out come of the match survivors assist team B or killer comes to help end them instead.

The only thought I think would change current 2v8 by making it 1v1 v8 is people stop picking legion lol which is quite alluring.

Even if its "certain killers", there would never be a reason for me to try hitting someone twice while leaving the other killer alone. It would be much more efficient to go after any survivor the other killer injures to ensure they can't get points, hence... it would just be filled with kill stealing.

Lots of difficulties in implementing something like this. One just straight up conceptual issue though is what exactly are survivors playing for? BHVR is incredibly loose with the win conditions but this would be pushing it even more. You create a weird scenario where it could be seven survivors escape, they all win, but the killer who got the one kill also wins.

You'd also have to rebuild some basekit functions because I imagine you'd have lots of instances of killers blocking each other. Once one killer is ahead the best strategy would be to just cut the other killer off.

It they ever get into PvE, if the survivors where all bots I could see a possibility, but it would be a lot of work for something with limited viability.

I would be interested in a mode that plays similarly to the dbd comp scene and honestly this sounds like that but instead with everyone on the same game all at once. Honestly doubtful that it would be as fun without preloading as a swf, but I'd still love to see bhvr implement something like this.

It would be fun - A modifier for a modifier!

I'd score it on downs not hooks or kills otherwise Trapper could score from a cross-map hatchet hit. There would be some strategy too, because ultimately if you don't kill the survivors, you both lose so you would sometimes need to try and stop your team-mate from getting a down so you could get it, but if they lost chase you would both miss out.

I feel like this kinda distracts from the survivors versus killer(s) dynamic.

You’re essentially making it 1v1v8. And I don’t see how that’s interesting for the 8 compared to the current mode. Not to mention how much this enforces a killer meta even further.

The only way I could see this working even slightly would be two teams of 5: 1 killer and 4 survivors (or so) per team. Each team (let's just say red vs blue for simplicity) are working to eliminate the other survivors and escape with their team.

So basically, all the survivors are working to complete more gens than the other team, and all the killers are working to pressure the other teams survivors and get eliminations.

Maybe, giving "scoring" by objective progress (gens/hooks) or just by BP.

But that would also allow things like the red team killer to work with the red team survivors to deny hooks or protect gen completion.

Or, instead of escapes, just use a tug of war system that shows which team has more gen progress, dynamically.

Well, idk it could be something in the future, after all DBD spreads it's wings more then any other based like games, like it……..not interesting for the surv of course, why not them be pawns in the Killers game? Doesn't have to be killed, sort of a ner ner to another Killer, I mean yes they work sort of as a team, but don't the Killers wish a golden moment of like I did more then you sort of vibe?

Well, I see Hybrid Panda liked my idea, saw a stream with him playing with a friend and making some fun out of getting scores :)
