Going back to 1v4 after 2v8 is a truely horrid and cursed existence
2v8 gives us a small taste of what a different game DBD could have been, with better balance, the removal of bloat and general focus on playing to the games strengths, offering equal parts fun and competitiveness.
In spite of this 2v8 will never be made a permanent addition for this reason; as it would kill 1v4 and rightfully so.

I definitely prefer 2v8 over 1v4. I have a lot of fun on both sides (most matches). The main problem is that I’d rarely get to play killer because the killer queues are so horrendously long. Short killer queue times, especially during evening peak hours, is really all that 1v4 mode has going for it.

I prefer 1v4. Killer queues are way too long when 2v8 is on

I respect those who enjoy 2v8, but for me 1v4 is vastly more interesting and fun. The strategic element of the game is much stronger and a players actions feel more meaningful and important.
I enjoy the casual chaos of 2v8 when it comes around to relax but it gets boring after a few days. 1v4 is just more engaging and 2v8 completely destroys the queue times for 1v4. So I really hope they never make it a permanent mode, sorry to those who love it.

better balance lmao kekw 2v8 is super hyper casual and boring

If you want to make an argument for how 1v4 with 120+ perks on both surv and killer + add ons is more balanced than 2v8, by all means, please explain it to me.
Slow like.-6 -
Yeah, this game would have died many years ago if 2v8 is was the base game. The mode has little to no nuance to it. Auras are being read 80% of the match mind games interrupted by a second killer. It's chaotic and fun at times. But there is to many people to make the individual feel valuable less people make points to unhook and help there team as there is just a LOT going on screen all the time.

I totally don't get the appeal. It's all chaos and pretty much no strategy or teamwork. The perk list is bloated, sure, but at least that gives you different flavors to matches. This is just constant aura reading and selfish survivors.

lot of you missing the point, seems like the majority rather have a casual game experience in DBD
rather than a balanced 1v4 that you sweat every single game with a horrible solo player experience.

Just admit you dont actually like DbD… 2v8 is the most boring, watered down, hyper casual, bare bones experience in the game with no skill expression or longevity to it and it sucks so bad, easily the worst thing they've ever put out. The game would be long dead if it was the default game like many of you want it to be.

I don't understand why people prefer 2v8, honestly.
- you are getting 2 tapped with 2 killers around so often, they team up. This literally takes away my feeling of the impact I could make towards win of my team.
- People are just running around, doing nothing - looting, hiding etc.
- Legion exist, which isn't very enjoyable in my opinion.
- Oni get's free downs and free power all the time.
It takes away my "power" as a survivior, feels hopeless for me.
On the other hand, I like playing killers with a friend - it's amazing, feels great, brings so much fun and enjoyment.
But 30 minutes queue is just not it.Survivior experience is not appealing at all - I only play for bloodpoints and "play while you wait" feature.
2v8 queues also break killer queue.
With all the events lately, there really haven't been times to play killer with decent queue times.
In my opinion BHVR should stop doing events that often, just because of it :(14 -
I'm gonna be honest—I don't really get either side of the argument here.
Maybe it's just because I'm a solo Survivor, but 1v4 is incredibly boring. The only time it feels thrilling is when the stars align perfectly. Otherwise, it's a slog where I feel like an NPC and get very flaccid returns for any time invested. I'm not sure where I'm supposed to express any form of skill when steamrolls are the most common outcome.
On the flip side, 2v8 started out very promising to me. It felt like a genuinely equitable mode where the outcomes were random. It felt like 8k, 8e, and 4k/4e were all equally as likely. But now? I don't see how it's casual. Steamrolls are as common in my games as 1v4 and the same old strats on Killer are the norm again. It's still more balanced than 1v4 yes, but I don't think it's staying that way for long.

But not really. Why do you think its the majority? Just bc a few comments at the start agreed?
Like i dont know what is more liked. Could be, couldnt be..
But its certainly funny to call out people just bc they disagree with your opinion.

I still have a blast in 1v4 as a Solo Survivor. 90% of the time, annoying things I experience are Survivor induced.
People keep saying doing gens is boring, and I don't understand this perspective... I actually enjoy doing gens, because doing gens means I am instead reading the trial constantly, looking intently at the HUD and mentally tracking things like: -
- timers of hook stages.
- current gen progress.
- completed gens in relation to 3 genning.
- trying to figure out Survivor and Killer perks by paying attention to events and behaviour.
- Killer location and where resources are being used.
- Unique trial elements based on the killer and perks in play (such as Pig boxes and trap patterns, Trapper placement, Pinhead box, grim embrace and pain res procs, Wesker/ Nemesis cures, etc.
There is a lot to keep track of in DBD, and doing gens affords me the ability and time to gather important information on the state of the trial...
Also as I'm on console, hitting great skillchecks is still not all that easy... so that keeps me amused...
I still have a lot of fun in DBD... little sad a lot of people don't... 😕

As far as Survivor goes, my order of preference probably goes something like:
Chaos Shuffle → Winter/Halloween event → 2V8 → Other events → regular DBD
While I do think 2V8 has steadily felt more Killer sided and stale over time, it's still preferable to playing Survivor in regular 1V4. Standard DBD is dripping with sweat by comparison and I don't touch the mode if I have the option to play something else. I guess I just prefer a more casual DBD experience.
As far as Killer is concerned, 1V4 is still king imo. 2V8 queue times are still absurd and playing Legion isn't the adrenaline rush it used to be since their nerfs. 1V4 also has more Killer variety, so it's hard for 2V8 to compete with that. Things might change as BHVR add more to each iteration, though.
I do understand where you are coming from, but I don't think the 2V8 could carry the game. It's way too simplistic. New perks and Killers to play with are the life blood of the game and the reason why 1V4 has maintained its appeal for so long.

This states it better than what I was going to say. 2v8 is garbage.

I don't know how anyone can prefer 2v8 survivor over 1v4. Killer is fine I guess if you play with friend, but survivor is so boring it's dreadful experience, maybe if someone is fan of holding M1 on a gen and doing nothing.
There is no strategy or skill involved. You have so much resources on a map that you can predrop pallets for minutes and if you have good chase the killer will just call his friend and there is nothing you can do. The class system is super boring as well and perks are vastly superior and make the game much more fun.

I don't see the hype around 2v8 at all. Even with a 10x Bloodpoint multiplier I wouldn't touch that gamemode.
2 -
Except it doesn't the perk list is bloated, until you realize that there's maybe only a dozen good ones for both sides, and of those there's like 5-6 that really stand out, resulting in basically the same match every game anyway.
1 -
Much prefer 1v4, it actually feels like my input when playing survivor matters, rather than have the killer call his buddy over to pinch me rather than actually catch me using any sort of skillful gameplay.

is juicing 2 killers at the same time not the height of ultimate skill expression?
