Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Remove bleed out timer

edit: it posted without the text, oops. let's fix that

Since it was added to address situations where the killer slugs and refuse to hook, and there are mechanics being added that more directly counter excessive slugging, it makes sense to remove the bleed out timer

But what does removing it help?

Like its not going to do much, but I guess a survivor could be able to get back up 4 times (if I understand the mechanism) and still die due to bleedout.

Also wouldn't this make slugging for the 4k even more problematic? That could last until a server timeout.

I think with the self recover after 90 seconds, removing bleed out makes sense, but it needs another change for the slugging for 4k too. Maybe when 2 survivors are left the slugged survivor can instant die with a button.

Nothing about being able to get back up guarantees you stay up. If the killer has you on the ground for 4 minutes in a match your game is over anyway.

I can see almost no benefit to removing this timer and a huge problem of this being abusable for griefing.

As one example, killer has one survivor (player) they are slugging for the 4k and a bot remaining in the match.

Every 34 seconds the survivor stands up, and gets immediately hit back into the ground to reset recovery. (After the first 90s).

There is no escape path for the survivor in this scenario:

    • The bot player is still standing, so abandon isn't available.
    • The survivor can't physically crawl faster than the killer can walk, so they can't get away from being instantly downed again.
    • The only avenue forward to end the game is for the survivor to be repeatedly downed, can't bleed out, and wait for the bot to finish however many gens remain. And since bots and terror radius, the killer can extend gen progress basically as long as they like.

Congratulations, instead of a 4 minute bleed out, you have a hostage situation. The killer completely decides if this occurs, the survivor has no way out except to disconnect (because the bleed out timer has been removed for no good reason).

    That's just one example.

And then the anti-go next flags you on top of that. 😵

Bleedout timer should stay, it prevents the killer from griefing a survivor by standing over them and knocking them down repeatedly. If they got rid of the bleedout timer it'd be like the old mori spam killers would do to keep a downed survivor in a match for longer than the 4 minute bleedout timer.

When there is only one human survivor left in the match the human player is allowed to abandon

That said I do think that there needs to be a caveat that makes slugging for the 4k less annoying so maybe an instant bleedout button NOT tied to a timer (in 2v1 scenarios? only available after the self pick up activates? two possible caveats there) would be good
