Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Anyone else thinking the forums have become pointless?

Clickbait title aside, I'm sure you've felt it as well. Loads of negativity, people on both sides reinforcing their prejudices against the other? I can't help but think that with how many comments and posts I see that not only devolve into wars over which side is being bullied more. Part of me thinks that this community, specifically the forums, could use a break. I know it sounds crazy, suggesting to just have the site go offline for a bit just so everyone can have a cleanse from all the hatred that's being spread around (and in such immature ways, I have to add) and recover. It's most likely not gonna happen, but I do worry for the mental state of some people on this site (and the game itself, but that's besides the point).

In times of big changes, it might devolve because of knee-jerk reactions. But other times it's fine

All of you are right, yeah. Though ngl I've been the type to whine about both sides when I enjoy both. :<

It's the least wild place I've discussed the game so far, to be totally honest.

That's any forum or comments section from this game, from here to reddit to steam.

Makes it annoying and hard to find folks willing to compare notes and opinions in good faith, but it can happen. The problem is with a game like dbd with it's core being survivors vs killer, that bias is tenfold. Or really, for every 1 killer bias there's 3-4 survivor bias statistically speaking.

It's exhausting either way. And it's only going to get worse.

It needs alot more users and more of a sample size. Forums could be the perfect place for changes to be recommended if so many others would agree.

It really feels that was sometimes, doesn't it? This place is certainly an afterthought for BHVR these days. For example, it's bad enough they didn't bother making a notice about the Community Cosmetic vote in-game, but you'd think they'd at least post something on their official forums before making a YT post of all things.

It really just depends on what your goals are here and how seriously you take others/yourself on a text-based videogame forum.

Forums like this are, I think, an older (and probably dying) form of online communication. Social media has kind of taken over. This is actually the only place I socialise online as the only social media i have is Bluesky, and i only joined that to follow DBD so I dont miss out on news, codes, etc. I'd love to see more users here but there's a reason the devs took over the main DBD subreddit not long ago.

I miss the days a few years ago when I would make a bunch of threads simping over Spirit. That was peak forums.

Downvotes really made this forums more toxic
