Have We Already Given Up on Oni’s Flick?
Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here, so please be kind.
I recently learned that Oni will get a new skin in the Night of the Living Cat collaboration, which makes me want to play him again. However, I was reminded that Oni’s flick was removed a few months ago. To many of us, flicking was more than just a mechanic—it was a skill that rewarded practice and mastery. It made Oni unique and gave players a sense of achievement when pulling off precise moves.
I also believe that if Oni’s flick was ever going to be removed, it should have been done at the time Oni was first released (December 2019). Removing it now, months later, feels out of place and disappointing. Even now, Oni feels less expressive and less satisfying to play, and a part of the gameplay depth has been lost.
I’m curious… are we really going to just accept this removal? Are there others who also miss the flick and feel that it added something special to Oni? I’d love to hear your thoughts and discuss how we could potentially suggest improvements or alternatives to the developers.
Thank you for reading!

Does Oni need anymore buffs? Like he's a pretty darn good killer as is. And I can see why flicking could be fun and engaging but what does the survivor get that would have a high ceiling added to combat that?

he can literally flick 540 degrees now he’s literally fine

The current 540-degree rotation isn’t really flicking. Version 8.7.0 was actually closer to a 1-frame flick.

It technically was removed on release and he was never intended to have a flick like that
His initial release had basically no limit, the hotfix that followed limited him to 45 degrees, and then the one after that was 90 degrees which is how it stayed for years. Anything above that wasnt intended.
Personally I dont really care, on one hand it was a form of skill expression but on another it sort of left out console players

Yes but all depends what antislug changes will be, see you cant pop your power and down one guy to hook him thats not effective use of onis power because it will make your next power use long and he is just m1, pure m1 with just power to slow down and collect blood so if they nerf slugging hard then the number of blood orbs after hooking must be higher than 5 as compensation for weaking his basekit playstyle same with twins they are just all focused around slugging so they need something to compensate or some reshape.

I think survivors can still counter Oni easily because, unlike Chucky doing a 180-degree flick over pallets or Billy using LoPro Chains to break pallets while flicking and dealing damage, Oni can’t really do anything against pallets.
Also, with the recent update adding more pallets, survivors now have even more tools to counter killers effectively.

im on xbox so ive never been able to do the flick but I think it shouldn't have been removed because of the fact it really just felt like a genuine part of the oni power that only the skilled (with mouse and keyboard) could use but even though its not something I can do it shouldn't be removed years later when we have accepted it as part of his power

Thanks for sharing your perspective! I agree that the real issue was the timing — Oni came out in December 2019, and by now flicking had already been accepted as part of his power. Even if not everyone could do it, it added a unique skill expression that made him more interesting.
Back then it wasn’t technically possible to fix, so it was treated as part of his design. Calling it a bug and removing it years later just feels wrong.

He can do basically 180 (more of a curve than flick), but I have to say I no longer really respect Oni's and find him more boring overall.
Thing is before when Oni managed to flick on me, it was something similar to when Billy curve and just something I would respect.
It's so easy to do on current Oni.It feels usually nice to use, but it is slightly weaker (slower) and your range is also smaller. But I was quite good at old flicks, so it is kinda downgrade for me.
