Was the current iteration of Krause play tested?
I just don't understand how you can play even a single game against her and arrive at the conclusion that her power level feels in-line with the rest of the game. And even if you wanted her to be this strong, just the way it looks and feels comes off as actually being game-breaking rather than just being strong.

Krasue = killer in dbd
Krause = name of an infamous German handyman on TV
Also: "Wah, a RANGED killer? Are you insane? Just give the killer a gun already, nobody is going to play this ######### game anymore!" - every survivor when Huntress dropped

The problem is and always will come back to the fact that "swf exist".
You cannot balance killer in between solos and SWF. Killer will always be miserable, and solos will be miserable half of their matches. Because BHVR needs to balance in between the 2, and … it … is… just… NOT possible!!
If the game was only Solos, then BHVR could balance killers towards solos…

yea, she was, alongside 2 massive nerfs to killers' main sources of pressure that she was designed and balanced around.
who would've guessed that when those external bottlenecks to her power arent there, she will be unbalanced ontop of being unfair.

Is anything playtested?

It is possible by buffing survivors with basekit aura like Kindred or Visionary, since that info is free for SWF already, and then buffing lesser killlers to catch up.

It’s kind of hard to believe, isn’t it?

We are the playtesters. BHVR game designers' job is to throw darts and see what happens.

They canceled that PTB entirely.

It wasn't really tested.
The problem is the way BHVR does their PTB, where they put out the PTB, people give feedback, and then they ship changes based on that feedback straight to the live version of the game without further testing beforehand to see if the changes are healthy.
Other games that do PTBs like League of Legends or Teamfight Tactics usually do multiple patches on their PTB to see if the updates they are doing actually fix the issues or just make more of them and it allows people to give more feedback based on the changes they make.0 -
Proper PTB's will typically take a month or more, going through multiple rounds of changes during that time. BHVR doesn't do actual PTB's. These are more mostly marketing demos. Yes, changes happen afterward, but almost every single time the changes make people question what they are doing.
This is why this current content cadence is simply not sustainable. People wanted LESS new content in exchange for spending all of that time fixing the base game flow, perks and killers that actually need help. Instead we have maintained the new content cadence and gotten half-assed reworks and poorly designed/implemented base-game changes. Older killers and survivors need overhauls in kits, models, animations, voice acting, etc. That isn't happening though. If they don't want to do DBD2, then they need to modernize half the roster, if not more.
Their strict adherence to these deadlines is a problem and we've now seen that two patches in a row, if not more than that.

its the fact that they knew that people hated a killer with auto-aim as their ability that also had high mobility…so they made a second killer with auto-aim and high mobility.

I think this was their attempt at taking a step to make a killer that could genuinely compete without tunneling, camping or slugging since they had some extreme changes related to that in the PTB. Unfortunately it was overtuned. What stood out to me is that she is the only killer that really feels like she controls the chase rather than the survivor. (I'm not counting spirit or nurse because they kind of ignore the chase aspect completely). Blight is really the only killer that rivals her in terms of pure M1 chase control. It defiantly ignored the typical dead by daylight killer formula in a sense. In a world where they added preventive measures against slugging, tunneling and camping, she might be tuned right. In the current dbd build, she is defiantly over tuned.
On another note I do find it a little crazy they implemented this killer at this strong of a state but when someone says something like trapper should start with his traps or pig should crouch faster or Freddy should have dream pallets and snares those changes either never happen or take years to even playtest in the PTB. It's not like thoes changes made Freddy or pig OP. I truly dont think that would even make trapper A tier if they implemented that. Oh well, that part was just a rant.
