More Unknown changes
With the recent update 9.2.0 patch unknown got a few quality of life buffs which are very nice and welcomed
I was wondering for the future are there plans for unknown cause right now yes there in a decent spot but the uvx is way to reactable and missing is very punishing and sets you back in chase which can hurt alot
As someone who has a alot of experience and p100ed unknown I do believe an addon pass is definitely something I'm hoping for cause alot of there addons are not very good and nerfing vanishing box again but not nerfing plagues iri that gives power on completed gens just makes me scratch my head cause that's far stronger
I think the hallucinations are in a good spot don't need to be touched but the uvx needs some adjustments that will make it a bit harder to react but reactable cause you don't want it to be to easy to use or unavoidable but overall I love this killer and I wanna see them be in a better power level cause as it stands dodging the power is very easy and leads to alot of frustration with people trying out the killer personally for me it doesn't cause of my experience but it can at times when it barely misses cause how slow it was it leads to frustration

Unknown really just needs some minor number tweak's to be way in a stronger spot but it seems bhvr doesn't not want to change those numbers ( Uvx Cooldown, Weakened duration and Weakened buffer)

I agree with you that's what I'm hoping for plus some addon adjustments but even without getting these I enjoy this killer alot and will continue to play them

Unknown is one of those killers I really want to like as they’re thematically very cool but feels bad in practice. They feel like the poster child for “high risk/high skill/low reward”. To me they’re way too punishing for what pay off you get and how difficult the hits are in the first place.
The debuff needs to be more difficult to remove. You have this small time window to score a second skilled hit in a row or the first one was meaningless. Whether that’s just more time to remove, narrowing the vision detection on removing it, or maybe if it’s not fully removed it slowly refills. Something.
His teleport cooldown could be reduced dramatically. Like even cutting its cooldown in half would not make this killer op for as dramatic as that sounds.
His addons are dog water. So many of them are extremely mediocre. Needs a pass improving a lot of them.

That's what I meant by frustration unfortunately the big reason alot people don't play them unlike me and other Unknown mains but that's why I want changes to make them more accessible to others but still make them have that skill ceiling etc cause the potential with this killer is high when you put in the effort

Which is kind of funny. If we recommend the unknown gets some minor number tweaks we sound crazy to BHVR. But they will add the krasue the in and not bat an eye.,

Lmao idk what they were thinking with krasue but alot of people don't know this but unknowns projectile speed is the same has a non wind up huntress hatchet so minor number tweak would not be crazy but yeah unfortunately unknown is a killer in a weird spot if they buff them to much it could be really bad

For me worst part is hitting survivor with uvx for the first time and then its bigger gamble than with artist because not only is uvx easy to react to in open areas or when survivor is few meters from unknown and pallet or window is near (so its easy to force unknown to miss or put down his power and both of these action will slow him down enough for survivor to make it to the pallet or window which is nuts), the second hit with uvx is something bad in my opinion because survivor has to look at you (unlike ghostface reveal they just need you to have on their screen for this staredown to work even with third person when is survivor hidden behind something this just counts to) for 10 seconds in which unknown has now 1-2 shots and that depends on map and loop tiles structure and another bad thisng is when survivor stops looking at unknown this staredown continues for 1,25 seconds (its stated that this is for things like when unknown is blocked by tree for second so the staredown isnt stoped) which is bad and very easy for survivors to counter him and super punishing for unknown for just missing two times, if you donw hit two times in the row you are just m1 killer with teleport you have to set by moving around the map to get something from it so he is just way worse than artist who is just better at hitting her crows and can outplay loops better than him and way worse than freddy who has more tools that work most of time unlike unknown who uct works if killer doesnt make any mistakes which is nuts desing.

Not to mention his addons that are like two good and they keep getting nerfed and are still used because they are still best probably, than two or few usable and rest is dog poop.

That's why I'd like some tweaks to make this killer feel better the amount of effort and hours iv had to put in to win against good teams with this killer is not something the average player or person wants to do like alot of my shots that I have to do cause of how easy it is to dodge is prediction shots

My most used addons are footprint cast and OSS report cause it makes getting tps so easy and the tp cooldown is nice

Yeah I agree with you there. He feels extremely punishing for new or average players when so many other killers can accomplish the same thing with way less work.
I’m a little biased in favor of hit and run split pressure type killers and I don’t really care for anti loops ones. So that’s why I’d prefer the more teleporting and debuff slowly refreshing its duration if not completely removed. This would give them a more viable hit and run bouncing around the map. His current teleport cooldown feels too long for this to be done properly.

Try OSS report and footprint cast if your hitting a decent amount of shots like just regular weakens the amount of tps you can place plus the lowered cooldown feels really good and my most used addon combo

My biggest tip that I don't see alot unknowns do is pressure other survivors mid chase if you know were other survivors are like working on a gen etc when your mid chase shoot at the survivors your not in chase with can lead to free weakens or possibly damage if there already weaken doing this can create more pressure than you realize

He is super punishing like if you want to play killer that has to hit survivor two times in the row with his power to apply damage for one heath state than artist is here, she is stronger and does this better only her down side is she has no teleport or mobility than nemesis who is more fun for me and easier to play but he is probably the weakest and slowest killer from all I will mention here, last is springtrap who is just perfect mix between huntress and m1 killer with mobility (teleporting trhrough door across the map like xeno with tunnels), has some stealth basekit and is just easier and more rewarding if you hit your shot, in situation where you hit one shot with unknown and than miss next one or two shots till survivor stares you down and gets from uvx effect you got nothing from those like 20-30 seconds no progress maybe pallet but that can m1 do to compare to springtrap who can miss 3 or 4 times in the row but when he hits his axe than its minus health state for survivor and that doesnt look that big but ist actualy huge difference and mostly whole reason why in hens unknown vs springtrap showcase springtrap had more better results than unknown who had to hit more shots to get simular results.

Krause and Unknown have basically the exact same method for being able to injure and down with their power. Hit a shot, follow up to damage. Same with Nemesis. But Krause needs survivors to go run and eat a mushroom, and Nemesis has a limited number of cures in the trial. So why does Unknown have the easiest requirement ever, that does not slow down or inconvenience survivors in the slightest?
I don't think the surv should have go to run off and interact with an object, I do think having to look at Unknown is good design, but 10 seconds, combined with the "buffer" that gives a survivor another free second even after the killer breaks LoS, is just stupid.
Thematically speaking, a survivor cowering behind a rock watching the Unknown chase someone else doesn't really seem like Facing The Unknown and overcoming your fear… IMO a nice minimum QoL change would be to make it so you can only Stare Down in chase, and the meter fills back up when out of chase/hiding.2 -
To add to this post otzdarva made a great video highlighting the frustrations of unknown today and I want to thank him for bringing it up more cause I think unknown deserves some small tweaks and make them more accessible for new players

Faster projectile speed - this means more effectuve long range because harder to react to and better at all ranges in general
Remove stare linger - Still punishing if misser in chase but gives the option to drop chase and keep weakened
No stare effect when carrying a survivor - too op similar to disabling hags traps when she is busy carrying
Better addons
This is my thoughts. Still a punishing killer but rewards riskier higher skill plays and fixes the bigger issues.

I just watched this last night and it was funny to see how much a pro DBD player struggles with The Unknown. I am also glad he made the video and brought awareness to his weaknesses because there are a lot of them. Hopefully BHVR sees this and buffs him soon.
As an Unknown main, the main struggle I have is keeping pressure and finding a balance between his base kit and perks, it is extremely difficult. There are some really great builds you can make for The Unknown, but it comes down to the survivors you're playing against, skill level, and maps. There isn't a general build you can take for any situation. On one hand you can take a full gen regression build but then you are weak in chases if you can't hit your shots. You can take a chase build but then 2 gens are done by your first hook. Really you have to find a happy medium between the two in order to get a 3 or 4k. Using aura and endgame perks are great, but expect the trial to be that more challenging as you're down a perk(s) to cover his main weaknesses.
To play The Unknown effectively in its current state, you need to keep track of your chase durations and bounce around the map constantly to continue applying pressure. But even then, it is difficult to do so because coordinated survivors will constantly dispel your hallucinations as you chase someone, while others are getting gens. That being said, I think buffing the weakened timer, increasing the duration and effect of hindered on UVX passes, or make dispelling hallucinations more punishing/increasing the timer, are minor tweaks that can be made to make a huge difference.
As for add-ons, sure, some could use a buff, but in terms or priority I would rather have changes made to its base kit before looking at add-ons.

They all have to effect survivors with their power effects but difference is krasue can switch into stronger chase mode (her head form) where she just has big mobility with longer attack and can vault over things. Nemesis is slow but once he gets tier 2 he is not big joke in chase as in tier 1 and you have only 4 cures against him plust in tier 3 he is just monster against infected survivors can can down you fast.
Unknown is more close to artist becasue all these killers have their power effects (infections) on survivors longer but unknown has only 1,2 atempts to get second hit on survivors that are effected by uvx effect (10 seconds they can stare at him and get rid of his effect reseting his power and making him start over all again), artist crows swarm the survivor and he can shake them off like he can pull out springtraps axe only difference is if you are looping this meter resets every time you stop holding m1 and do the action and across the map if survivor has no locker near to instantly get of the crows it takes like 8-10 seconds to shake them off and she can spawn other 3 crows (if she hit you with 1 before) and shoot them to secure a hit and thats huge difference in effectiveness plus her crows can on some shorter distance like 14 meters (where you see the crows path) injure instatly survivors like huntress hatchets if there isnt any object between the crow and survivor which makes her antiloop even better than unknown who relyes on his uvx bouncing of objects which isnt that reyable like artist shooting crows in straight like throught all objects and only high differences or lockers can counter them.
The main part is closest killer who has to hit his shot for second time in some time limit like unknow is artist and she has more time and easier time to do so than unknow who is easy to loop and doge so the time should be buffed to be more than 10 seconds to like 15 seconds so he doesnt loose all presure for just missing one time (every time he shoots his projectile he gets super slowed and has 7 seconds cooldown).
I hope they buff this part of him so he isnt super punished for one mistake and than make more of his addons viable.

I really do feel an addon that lets you see how UVX will bounce/arc would go such a long way with them. like build in the photos speed from teleporting and then change it into the arc or something.
