Why are so many people uninstalling DBD?
It seems like a lot of people are lately.
EDIT: I heard a lot of people are going to Outlast Trials because of the new invader mode, but no one here mentioned it.

My friend was fired from his job when coworkers found out that he was easy target for tunneling in dbd... Everyone was laughing and pointing fingers at him. My friend's brother was camped in dbd and dropped school because of it. He just couldn't stand it anymore, camping, tunneling, home work, classes… no.
I even heard a story about guy in our town who was camped and then decided to live as a hermit in the mountains. He was so tired of being constantly watched by killers on hook that he decided to choose path of Isolation…
So many broken destinies due to camping and tunneling. DBD is not the same anymore…4

just had a longtime friend uninstall after probably eight years. He hasn't played consistently in a while, but he would still hop on every so often. He was the person who really got me into DBD, so seeing him leave is.... difficult, especially after so many years. Now, it's only my friend who started during the Anniversary. Said friend wanted to play last night. Got camped or tunneled in three games, then called it quits.
sad to see DBD these days. I probably wouldn't play at all if not for my enormous ego telling me that I need to play if I want to have an opinion on the forums. So, I manage a few games every so often.
Nothing like how it used to be for me.

I stopped playing after the fog vials were nerfed so quickly and so harshly. When the anti-tunnel/anti-slug update was announced I came back, but then it too was, you know, pulled. So I just stopped playing after that. Personally I feel that survivor is in a really bad place and I don’t think they will fix it until they are forced to because the numbers are affected. I hope to come back some day if things improve , as this
was my favorite game. It just started to feel like it really disrespected my time.is16 -
I didn’t uninstall, but play less. Because simply don’t like where it’s all going for both sides. I’m currently enjoying my social life way more and games for me are more about to play singleplayer for my joy
I still return time to time to play because I feel I didn’t really reached a point I can feel confident to play every killer possible or master survivor, so simply some mechanical gaps I want to fill. In terms of community and balance this game doesn’t enjoy me at all. Just skip event as I always do and play some normal queue
As player with less than 1k hours I find it ridiculous I reached “I’m done with this”. I don’t even struggle at all both as survivor as killer to complain on game being unplayable

I'd like to uninstall and reclaim my life but I'm addicted and can't currently stop myself, but I'm not happy with the state of survivor so I'm playing more and more killer. At least I feel like I can act and make my own decisions in that role.

Everybody I know stopped playing after the Ghoul was introduced. But really, that was just the final straw after enduring years of tunneling sweatzillas, gens exploding in their faces and trying to keep up with relentless changes and reworks to perks, addons, killer powers etc.
They might come back for 2v8 now that Legion is gone, though.

Both sides are frustrated for good reason. Its a lack of balance, and repetitive gameplay. This game was always and will always be hard to balance. Unfortunately the survivor side (4 players) compared to the killer side (1player) seems to be having a worse experience right now mostly solo players. People just leave if they feel their time is being wasted.
IUnfortunately Dead by daylight has that feeling for solo players especially. Especially with the anti go next penalty timers. If people feel cheated due to tunneling or camping and quit... then see a 5+ minute timer they just quit the game instead of waiting.
To be honest I miss the go next strat. At least killers still won, and players who felt cheated could actually keep playing. But that's just me. I know this is a controversial take. Ill get more dislikes with this logic. But im thinking for the solo players who just wanna play with the least amount of wait times.

I still play and probably always will, but I'm not nearly as devoted to it as I used to be. Trust me, I'd like to be, but you have to give me something to do. And I don't know what there is to do as Survivor anymore. I'd play more Killer like many others have, but it's never really been my thing. I'm way too casual for it.

I've played enough Rainbow Six to know that big games like DBD have highs and lows, we are just in a low rn. The game will bounce back unless BHVR somehow does something horrific to the game. But with the Myers rework kinda killing my enjoyement of him yeah i'm just gonna skip playing the game at all in November and wait for Bone Chill.

according to the player count, not that many are uninstalling. the ones that uninstall cant take the heat so they get out the kitchen, which is for the best. better than having them DC all the time out of frustration ruining other peoples matches.

Tunnel trash killers.
Killer can take any perk and still get a 4k.
Survivor is locked into taking anti this and that. Survivors have to meta while killers don't.
It's that simple.
No sympathy for the power role.
Whining about a killer not obliterating every round is simply ignorant.-12 -
I've mostly quit playing now so I can give my reasons. I have entirely stopped playing killer, only playing survivor occasionally now, but even that is stopping slowly.
On the killer side the vast majority of killers I enjoy (SM, Knight, Sadako, Pig, Trapper, just to name a few) are not viable against any remotely competent survivor team and with the pallet changes and awful maps you are going to struggle against even the most mediocre of teams now. On top of that, the toxicity is out of control. If you dare to not sweat and try to play "fair" you are greeted with survivors t-bagging at the exit gate and insulting you in the post game chat.
On the survivor side it is just frustrating to play. Many matches feel hopeless because you can be doing amazingly but then your teammates are just doing nothing, messing around, opening chests, cleansing dull totems, ect. You could lead the killer on a decently long chase and if for a majority of that your teammates are crouching in a corner it was all for naught and you get nothing out of it. When even a single bad teammate can ruin a game, and having 3 chances at getting one, it often leads to a string of demoralizing games that makes me want to play DBD less and less each time.
In addition to all of that, subtle cheating is a surprisingly common occurrence. I never really looked out for it before, but after I escape, or have died, I've started occasionally spectating and I was honestly kind of shocked at how often people turn on speed hacks after rounding a corner and they are out of sight of the killer, just enough to make a bit of distance, but enough to make a huge difference in chase. With the game's awful report system, and reports almost never being acted upon, it makes me just want to drop the game entirely.8 -
Pretty much I agree and the cheating is the biggest phantom menace here because its covered beneath the shroud of antitunneling, anticamping and antisluging changes with no one talking about it which kinds bad, the nimber of speeders or people having more than 4 perks and I would say wallhackers is outraging now and how you said the report system is kinda poor in options.
I still play killer and probably will after the changes because I started to play more blight and the feeling is great, he is so fast and every right use of your power gets you rewarded not like trapper or ghostface powers, he is so fast and feels so fluid he is like kind of drug what you take when you struggle to wake up, even the fact I hate still how busted he is he is just like main character who can take it all alone head on and biggest joke is survivors like him more than other weaker killers so they give up less.

For most my friends it's the release of Ghoul/Krasue being ignored by the devs how destructive they are to the casual experience, as are all of the S-tiers. I'd honestly take nerfs to these killers and blanket buffing killers again over them remotely existing, I hate them, so do my friends.
Fog Vials were a huge disappointment and the cold feet on the anti-tunnel and slug too just before a huge event which has just encouraged toxic playstyles yet again. All the try hards go into the event queue and ruin it for everyone, it sucks.6 -
This lines up with why most of my friends have quit or drastically reduced playtime. I take long breaks but come back for rifts/events just to quickly grind the challenges. I spend as little money as possible to avoid rewarding the current direction of game balance. There was a time when I bought every chapter on release day and gifted multiple copies to friends on Steam…

Twins and Houndmasters bugs that never gets fixed probably. The rest of the game works as intended mostly.

They're bored. Game got stale. Pallet buffs annoyed them. Lots of reasons to uninstall right now bro.

Yea, when I go on tiktok, anytime a DBD clip pops up, the comments are just filled with people complaining about the game and stating they uninstalled lol
The game is unbalanced, but more importantly, unfun.

its kinda sad lowkey…i open dbd to claim my daily blood points, look at the lobby for a bit, then close it.
breaks my heart considering how much i used to love and play it

I heard they fixed something about them recently. That true?

I had a meg the other day so fast I couldn't start chase. I was stalk mode myers, but she was at least 4.3 m/s. I killed her, but just because of bloodlust and a lack of skill on her part. I know people try to subtly cheat, but it's pretty easy to tell.

My friends prefer survivor and they constantly complain about tunneling more than anything else. Only getting to play 20% of the game has to be a very frustrating experience.

Where can I see the uninstall count?
1 -
I maybe there will be some, but I have strong feeling the people that will uninstal and than instal it back will be there counted to statistic too. Same as devs claimed in skullmerchant 70% kill rate those that killed themselfs on hook didnt count but I doubt high c-tier killer (clown, trickster are around same power as comparison) could kill that many survivors that played without giving up.

i mean if players are playing then they cant be uninstalling unless they are streaming the game rather than having it installed lol. the player count is still up which means either current players are not uninstalling much or new players are installing at the same rate as old players are uninstalling.
When or if the player count drops then yes there would be evidence to suggest many are uninstalling but untill then, it seems like not that many are.

haven't even played the halloween event this year, i come on here to read discussions and look for some news.
im just very disappointed with how many bugs are in the game and the low quality of the game atm even when it comes to spending money lol

I can only speak for myself but I have gone from being an almost daily player back when the game became free on PS+ (around Clown's release) through to Knight's release to coming back here and there for a burst of playtime to not playing at all.
For me, it's the matchmaking more than anything else. Every game is either against people/someone way better or against people/someone way worse. There's no in-between, it's stomp or be stomped on and that goes for both roles. It's just exhausting.

I was cautiously optimistic for the tunnel changes so I've been spending my time trying to romance Yoshizawa in P5.
when the changes were put on pause I guess I just kept taking a break.

62k on Steam on a mid-day Monday.
Also in the top percentile of active users on both major consoles.
Game seems to be doing fine, objectively.
Downvote away - reality doesn't care.
