Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Can we do something about chronic dodging.

I usually run into the same players in lobbies, probably around a hundred names or so. There’s this one pair, one of those “Adam❤️Eve” types, who always leave the lobby right after joining. They often get thrown back into the same one and keep doing it over and over, which resets the timer and annoys everyone else waiting to start. It’s starting to get a little frustrating.

It's always the Aces with the comp outfit.

But I think I remember seeing that duo too or something like that. EU servers. Always lobby dodging.

You think it's bad with survivors not liking their own lobbies, imagine being able to see who the killer is in lobbies. The lobbies would be deserted to dodge certain killers and the cosmetics worn.

Yeah this is kinda annoying. Happens a lot when I play late at night/early in the morning. I see a few players over and over again that chronically dodge the lobbies. They load in, leave, and then instantly queue up again so they just get thrown back into the same lobby. Like if you're going to dodge, I don't really care, but at least do it correctly and wait 30 seconds before queuing again so the lobby you're avoiding gets filled.

At first I thought it was me they were avoiding, but I've seen them do it in my Killer lobbies (where they wouldn't see that it's me) so I honestly have no idea what their dodge criteria is, but it seems extensive lol.

Yeah Lobby dodging is a huge issue in the game, honestly the entire lobby system and UI needs a rework.

if the killer couldnt see the survivors they'd not dodge, same for the survivors. At the same time it'd be nice to see co-survivor perks etc.

I think Survivors should see the perks of their mates too but… and here is a big but…

It would drastical increase the lobby dodging. Running Self Care? Next… Running Chest builds? Next… Running Sole Survivor and Left behind for a streak? NEXT!!!

Yeah exactly, so I'm kind of torn on it, unless they add a penalty for dodging too much finally.

Are people just not aware of this? MANY survivors do actually alrdy see who the killer is, and their build. That is why survivor lobby dodging is so prevelant. I don't remember how they do it, if it was a straight up cheat, trick or software. I didn't look more into it, cause I was so angry/disgusted by it. But this actually is a thing. I'm baffled that this is not more widely known at this point.

I'll say it every time the lobby is mentioned or discussed, pregame lobbies should be removed and it makes absolutely zero sense now that skill based matchmaking is in the game that players can purposefully leave a lobby where they are matched with similar skill opponents. The pregame lobby as a whole is a pure detriment to the game in my opinion.

It's like we have two systems, one is designed to match players in an attempt to get similarly skilled players into the game together, which is the skill based matchmaking. The other is designed to allow people to completely disregard and disrupt this exact system, which is the lobby. The lobby you are placed in before the match on a fundamental level ruins matchmaking by allowing players to leave for any reason whatsoever, which then means players have to wait even longer to get into a match. But the way matchmaking decides to fix this problem that the lobby system causes is to make matchmaking even less accurate to shove any random player into the abandoned lobby, which causes even more people to dodge, and even less accurate matches.

So you end up with the worst of both worlds. No real control over which lobby you join like a server browser or something, but also no quality matches because people can just leave lobbies at any time. Absurd. And that's not even mentioning all the wasted time that comes from having to sit and wait in lobbies as people join, leave, don't ready up, over and over.

I can't imagine how impossible it must feel to make a matchmaking system for a game when you can't even guarantee that the players you match together initially even get into the match together. Why do BHVR keep the lobby and make things difficult for themselves when they could remove it and make it both easier to matchmake people, and faster to get them into a match?

I'm very curious, if you guys could pick, wouldn't you prefer to just select your build, start searching, then get a popup for accepting the match, and go straight into the loading screen and start the match without the lobby even being there at all? No going into a lobby. No backfilling into a lobby you aren't meant to be in in the first place. No waiting for 2+ minutes as people leave and join lobbies, even though finding the lobby itself took 5 seconds. No insane skill disparities.

You'd just, queue up. Get a prompt, join into a match with evenly skilled players. Sure, maybe you'd have to queue for 2 minutes instead of 10 seconds. So what? It'd be worth it. I know I would prefer it to be like that instead of how it is now.

The method you're likely talking about was fixed long ago. At least I assume it's the log file method, which stopped being feasible the moment BHVR encrypted the text file in question instead of letting people see killer cosmetic names as they loaded into the lobby.

Can people do it another way with more "hardcore" cheating methods today like actual cheat clients? Maybe, I don't know. But WAY less people will dare to do something that might actually get them banned than something that due to how it worked was unquestionably 100% consequence free.

They don't get banned tho , why do u think the game is swamped in cheaters these days. I'm monitoring a steam profile that keeps racking up hours in DBD (768h so far) and getting achievements. Even tho I send BHVR blatant video evidence of him speeding on killer, downing the whole lobby in 20secs. Reported em in May this year I believe. I keep that profile bookmarked to remind myself not to touch DBD anymore. I'm just here for the entertainment, and to see when BHVR puts on their big boy pants and actually makes the game better.
