should killers be able to place their hex so that there isnt a hex totem next to a gen and easily cleansed and it makes hex’s more viable yes their is still a risk and reward to play hex’s but it makes them more fair so they are not be removed right at the start of a match and obviously make to totems not spawn in place where like hunters or other range killers can easily bird nest the totem

Realistically they should just be hidden better, but that's clearly not happening. We're literally still putting totem spawns next to gens and in open fields years later.

At this point just make hexes not light on the totems until at least 60+ seconds of being active. This would pseudo guarantee at least a minimum value.

I think the Totem mechanic should just be reworked entirely. They should do something basekit as well, rather than being entirely dependent on specific perks, so that survivors always have a reason to cleanse them.

I think they should just spawn where the killer spawns. The biggest problem I've seen with hex totems is them spawning right near survivors.

You need to put some kind of condition to it but even then I think it would be too strong. If you give the killer ability to place their totem in their 3 gen camp spot or near a hooked survivor, it's gonna be really hard to take that hex out even with comms against even some weaker killers. Ideally the hex should just never be designated on a totem near the survivors at the start. I did think of another idea: it could be disabled for like 30 seconds at the start of a match. In this time period, the hex totem location is already specified by the game and the killer can see the aura of the totem, but in actuality the totem looks dull and does nothing related to the hex perk. After 30 seconds, the hex perk activates and the totem lights up as usual. This would give the killer a chance to play around the perk without it being destroyed or known within 30 seconds. One thing about it is that a survivor could choose to cleanse the totem during that 30 sec period but they would have no clue if there's a hex perk in play, it'd just be a guess.

I think totems are largely fine on their own. They are high-risk and high-reward, and I believe the intentional decision of making them hard to defend for prolonged periods of time is a fair decision. Hexes already slow down survivor objectives, as every second spent searching for and cleansing a totem is not spent repairing generators. That said, I do think that hexes should avoid spawning near survivors at the start of games. I have seen instances of survivors spawning facing active hex totems, which is (needless to say) aggravating for killers.
