The ping problem

I can deal with a lot of things in DBD. Give me a camping/tunneling blight with 4 slowdown perks, and I'll still have fun in the match. Give me any killer with a ping over 200, and I know I'm gonna get hits stolen from me.

It wouldn't be so bad if bad ping was rare, but it's pretty common when I play Survivor. It's also evident that killers use it to their advantage. That's not skill, that's exploitative.

I've been in matches where a killer started off with 60 ping and didn't do so well, but for the second half of the match they had 200+ and started swinging from miles away. Coincidence? I think not.

Could the devs please do something about ping? Either give us a free out of high ping games or show us the killers' ping in the lobby? Or if a killer has 300 ping, match him with survivors of a similar ping?

I agree that the inconstancy is probably the most frustrating thing.

Playing against a killer with a high ping feels like it's almost always a lose lose situation on a lot of pallets or small loops.

Firstly, they need to solve a common reason behind why it happens.

    Not. Enough. Servers.

Middle East has high ping, entire African continent has bad ping, servers in the US are overfilled, ect. ect.

This needs to be resolved first, and would help a lot. Then, we can start creating ping limits.

Is it even worth the cost to set those up? You can argue the Middle-East if the playerbase is big enough. But Africa is full of unstable, failed states and I can't imagine the infrastructure and playbase can justify it.

Depends but I got in 2v8 as survivor wraith against me that had 264 ms so I droped pallet and he hit me like 1,5 or 2 seconds right after I droped that pallet (what I mean is there was whole pallet between us and he hit m1 attack) and was sitting behind it which is frustrating like hell plus with 2v8 delay that is real (many actions happen little later after you begin to do some action like pallet drop or switching form as dracula etc.)

Its is but some high ping isnt that optimal and not all killer attacks register same like nemesis whip try to use it on 100+ ms and you will be just m1 because the time delay it takes for him to pull his whip and then attack with it is so huge, on the other hand you can have wraiths hitting m1 attack behind droped pallet or 3+ meters when you are behind window.

There are several threads talking about south Africa and how awful ping is there.

Apparently there is a considerable playerbase there.

Yes leaving needs too be allowed for these ping situations or if ping is spiking past 200 multiple times in the match. nobody wants to play when the other side is over 200 ping.

I'm literally from South Africa lol, games like Call of Duty, Dota 2, Warhammer and Overwatch have African / Middle East servers. I don't see why DBD can't be the same.

Cheapskates. Priorities usually in the wrong place.

At bare minimum, BHVR should show everyone’s ping in the lobby so players can choose if they want to play in an unfair match. It’s incredibly frustrating that they don’t seem to care about the quality of player experience. They just want max number of players no matter how much it negatively impacts the fairness of matches for other players.

Yeah I played on SA on DotA once as a joke. Immediately told to end myself every game because I'm White, lovely country you have there where even politicians like Malema can espouse that and Ramaphosa can ignore it and get away with it.

As far as the companies you listed goes, they are much larger and have many more resources than BHVR interactive and it's not even close. No wonder your country is failing so hard if you couldn't immediately see this.

The same situation with killers who have ping lower than yours
    This game needs more servers

Doesn't work like that. Bad ping, regardless of who's side it's on, always favours the killer.

Not always but yes it does but some killer powers doesnt work better but worse such as bubbas chainsaw hitbox or nemesis whip is super slow and unusable but hard to explain this to someone who didnt get dedicated surver with these killers and had to take few games like this. Hight ping mostly buffs m1 attacks (and I know what Im talking about I just got hit by wraith over droped pallet when i stood 2 meters away from it and it felt terrible but normaly I dont see so many uganda warriors with 200+ ping).

it doesn’t help that bhvr randomly disables server locations to the point where there are only like 1 or 2 servers in your country with thousands of players actively using them. if they increased the amount of servers and actually KEPT THEM ON we could see a very noticeable decrease in players’ high ping. until then, looks like we will be getting hit from mars after vaulting a window.🤦🏾‍♂️
