I'm back after a long break and... My god.

So, I'm a killer main, about 60/40 (now It's more like 50/50 since queues are way too long for playing only killer). I've took a long break off the game, then I decided to play again lately (just 2v8 so I can be a chill guy).

Yesterday I've decided to play 1v4 again.

First map - One of the borgos - Got 2 kills, not bad, I was really bad, really rusty on 1v4…

Second map (I think it was Unknown's) "oh ok, there are a lot of pallets, but I can work it out." Got 2 kills and the other 2 survivors just gave up.

Then I got Sanctum AND HOLLY COW…

Sprint burst to 1 unsafe pallet, that the survivor just dropped and ran to… Another unsafe pallet, that that survivor just dropped and ran to… A jungle gym. That conected with another unsafe pallet that connected with the temple…

Yeah, guess what, even tho' I've dropped chase, tried to patrol gens, it was a mess. Only 3 hooks with 4 man out. Yeah I could've played better, of course, played sweatier, slugged, forced unsafe unhooks… But my god.

There was NO SKILL at all involved, just run to the next pallet 'cause there are so many that you are NOT WASTING resources anymore. There isn't a way to create a dead zone if by that time all the gens are completed.

And yeah, sprint burst/lithe in everyone of them with finesse, so they could get even more distance when they decided to vault something or just run to another loop.

Sorry about the rant but that's not fun at all, and now I dread to get in a map that I'll just play minecraft since I'll be breaking wood all day.

That's the so called QoL update that survivors got about 1 or 2 months ago. It's a straight up buff for survivors since some maps were given a lot more pallets and it's been miserable for most of the M1 killer roster.

Worry not. Next patch Survivors are going to be even more braindead to play thanks to the gazillion buffs to Anti-Slug/Tunnel/Camp.

Seriously, now is one of the worst time to come back playing this game for Killers.

No no, It's really fun guys… I'm having a blast. As a (former) Oni main, it's REALLY fun to play "M1 killer with a fun power that you will NOT use" since survivors just have SO MANY PALLETS to deny a hit.

I guess that I'll be playing the " top 5 fun killers" now on.

If game doesn't change why should they implement these changes? You can still get 4 escapes right now if you're good enough.

Pallet density is not getting reverted next patch. It'll be changes in next one after, but we're still not sure it's getting reverted or buffed.

I hope they dont revert these pallet changes. Personally hate eating pallet after pallet but still would rather keep the increased number of pallets. There is no skill involved in compdropping each pallet but if you think about it the entire looping is one big guess game. The proof of this is that a complete noob could accidently outplay a comp player at a loop by never looking behind them.

It's extremely boring right now. Zero skill, just pre drop and hold w all game. Most the loops are unplayable leaving the pallet up.

They shouldn't just revert the pallet density update, because then we'd have maps like small haddonfield with only a handful of pallets again. But they absolutely need to reduce the pallet desnity of many maps now, because right now it's too much. There is a possible middle ground here, and I can't see how it's hard to reach that middle ground.

They went overboard with many of the realms, and some maps in those realms got incredibly survivor-sided as a result.
Also, the spawns are so inconsistent.

As of now, the worst offenders (at least from my own observations) are these:

    • Mother's Dwelling - After getting hit by a bully squad on this map, I realized how many safe pallets there really are, and how easily chained together they are, also considering how many window tiles that can spawn there. This map is probably the worst example, along with the likes of Disturbed Ward, and Mt. Ormond Resort, in terms of pallet density, and chainable loops.
    • MacMillan Estate. Most of the maps in this realm really didn't need a ton of extra pallets, as there were already a lot of tools for survivors to use on these maps. Though Shelter Woods was the only map in the realm that needed more pallets, it really didn't have to apply to every other MacMillan map. I do however like the additions of pallets near the log stack and the water tower tiles, so those can stay in my opinion.
    • Greenville Square. This map REALLY didn't need any more pallets, as it was quite dense to begin with.
    • Autohaven Wreckers. Most of these maps were fine before the update, say aside from Azarov's Resting Place, but that map has always been problematic due to its layout.
    • Torment Creek - It was fine before the update. It really didn't need more pallets, especially around the main structure.
    • Fractured Cowshed - Like Torment Creek, it really didn't need more pallets. It also has the problem due to its "postage stamp" size, that the loops spawn very close together, making them incredibly easy to chain.
    • Ormond Lake Mine - This map was PERFECT before the update, and really didn't need any changes.

I have also noticed that pallet tile spawns can be very inconsistent, even after the update (that was supposed to make the consistency better). This means that bigger deadzones still occur on certain maps

I have to agree just haddonfiel needed more pallets and then maybe vecnas map on top but what they did now is just too much just swamp maps got some buffs too like this https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VFckeYi_8T0

loop that was kinda ok now is like back from DBD 2019 where double pallets were just still thing even on jungle gyms but surely devs learn from history and have rich experience righ.

Or on gasheaven the is behind shack some truck with window and i got bus with pallet few times there which is busted now I havent seen it but I get it there few times right after pallet density update.

Haddonfield, and Rancid Abattoir needed it the most.
I would also argue about Temple of Purgation, as that map had like 5-6 total pallets around the perimeter of the temple before the update.

I would also say Forgotten Ruins, even though the map layout makes it inherently killer-sided, the increase in pallets sort of balanced this factor out a little bit. However, the pallet update only affected the outdoor part of the map. The dungeons are still the same.
