Could Skull Merchant have stayed the same with these changes?

Hello everyone…

as we all know the old Skull Merchant got kinda butcherd out of the game because she was able to hold even strong teams hostage with a good 3 gen.

She got nerfed and changed again and again till she fell into oblivion.

So I was thinking after the 3gen nerf (which happend cause of her) and the ability to sit on gens and drones won´t scan you… could she get her old self back or am I missing something?

    Her old self was incredibly annoying and braindead.

    All you had to do was placing down a drone and reap rewards.

    They enter the zone, Lock On and Exposed almost right away. No crouching or standing still to counter it.

    They disable the drone, free injure and Claw Trap.

    Almost all of her power was composed of passive abilities.

    But if this counterplay of crouching or standing still would have been implemented she could stay the same?

    I still prefer skull merchant 2.0. Its a shame we lost all the unique effects and animations from the release version. I still think she would have never needed to be nerfed if hookiciding yourself was removed earlier rather than later. Once people were forced to play against her, her kill rate plummeted

    She would still be disliked.

    Her drones would still be passive, with the only difference being that she would rarely get value out of exposed. Or her entire power since with this counterplay added, players can completely ignore her power.

    After that logik are Trappers and Hags abiliity only passiv aswell.

    It´s a set up to shut down a loop or not?

    The difference being that Hag and Trapper’s set up actually can shut down loops

    Old SM’s traps did functionally nothing if the survivor had basic sense and left the loop, it took forever for the drones to do literally anything, hence why the most effective strategy became placing them at generators and nothing else.

    That is my question because I think the same.

    If you could sit on Gens without getting scanned. Would that make her okay?

    To be honest I want to know what people want her to be. Cause I like her from the design and mommy vibes (I know I am weird)

    No, she had a 70% KR without DC's or suicides.

    She was universally despised and promoted some of the worst gameplay in DBD. She was basically the poster child of modern DBD's horrid design.

    She went from 3-gen monster who held games hostage for an hour to still good at 3-genning but better at the brainless "place drone at loop, get hit or leave" style of gameplay, plus they just slapped every status effect in the game onto her drones.

    Combine that with indeterminate Haste, applying Hindered, on-demand Undetectable and you have an overpowered and reviled Killer.

    Yeah if we take all the games out when someone ran into her when he heard her terror radius, hook suicides and dcs, maybe the "becareful sarcasm" 3 games which were played normally from start till the end had some Killrates.

    You would laught, since I played her from time to time and I had not a single normal game with her.

    Getting her addept was kinda the easiest addept I ever did in this game, because not a single pallet was dropped. All 4 Survs came straight to me.

    I agree that the 3 gen strategy was busted on her but hear me out you could break it, cause after all she was still an M1 Killer. But since the 3 genning was removed she was toleratable to play against. Was it boring? Yes it was, was it impossible as many claimed. Nope it wasn´t.

    You will laugh but when Trapper places a trap close to a pallet in the loop you have to leave it aswell.

    Her first desing was a mix out of passiv Ghostface stalk and Clown. But after all you could always decide to just leave the loop and she had to follow you without dashes.

    I like skull merchant design, enough to buy all her cosmetics and get her to p100 (my only p100 that isnt licensed). But the drone plop power kinda feels tedious rather than skill based or funnto use. I mostly play her for the on/off stealth from drones but now thats going to become even more tedious with shorter stealth / shorter cooldown making you have to spam even more drones in odd places.

    Id still like to see her fully reworked, but allot of the skull merchant players just want to keep the drone plop playstyle from pre nuke-nerf. If you could sit on gens with Her original drones it would make no difference except taking even longer to get claw traps on people in a loop, nerfing her further.

    Before the myers rework i was thinking she could have the drones as passive minions floating around chasing and latching onto people while giving her some kind of ability with her claw as it makes no sense why shes got this entire poweres arm mechanism for a giant blade that does the same thing as a knife lol, but of course theres the arguement that they arent great at making ai in the game.
