What if DBD had a new item?
I recently had an idea for a item of a booby trap for dead by daylight. The idea is the item would be called a Tripod and the survivor can set them down around on the map, and whenever the killer walks past the front of it, the tripod would trigger working like a instant flashbang blinding the killer if they are facing it, but if the killer is beside it or behind it, the tripod won't go off and the killer can break it. I feel like it would be a very useful item, great for setups and other things. What do you guys think?

no, sounds very exploitable
don't like the flashbang part, maybe instead it could inflict hinder or something.

That would take the most annoying part of playing xeno and put it on every killer + xeno lol

yes I feel like this could allow for very unique plays
Damn, I thought I came up with something origional here.

Itd also be heavily exploited by bullies and sabo squads. It would make the basement almost impossible to hook in unless you are expecting a "claymore". Itd also be the easiest blinding tool in the game to use for vanishing from chases. Sabo squads would bait you to try and hook at certain hooks, break those and then you go for the only nearby one left and bang claymore.
And what i mean by the most annoying part of xeno, is swf teams like to make entire "safe zones" where they will always run to to make you much easier to loop by placing multiple turrets, and now also claymores lol

oh, the idea was if the killer moonwalks into it, it still goes off, but it won't blind them. also, if the killers goes behind the tripod, they can break it.

If xeno hides behind objects he can avoid the flame turrets, but you can still make safe zones by covering multiple angles making them unavoidable. Add this claymore thing in and not only do xeno safe zones become worse but every killer can just be baited into safe zones built on a safe tile. Also, think about indoor areas. All you'd need to do is put them near a wall and the killer either has to moon walk (and probably loose chase) or get blinded (and loose chase).
The idea of a tripod trap is fun but really would need so much balancing and blinding just isn't fair for this kind of use case. I don't hate the idea of some kind of turret/trap/claymore item, just not this.

honestly, if i had to balance it, it would be that only one tripod can be placed per person and can't be close to each other (like, back to back)

i can see swfs chain blinding already

what would be cool is disposable party blower or how would you call it idk (the one that stretches and makes high pitch sound). anyway - you drop it on the floor and it emits sound every time someone steps on it (survivors only when not crouched) after 10 steps it blows and dissappears. Would be usefull to set up like an alarm for stealth killers (or this can backfire during chase, if survivors step on it). But no notifications from entity, like when you fast vault, only audio

this sounds like a stealth counter. I love it, as a very loose stealthy survivor this would be my downfall.

Sadly, based on recent history, the devs would never allow survivors to have any item that impactful. Any new item additions will inevitably be nerfed into oblivion and bloodweb clutter.

Damn, that's a little sad.
