Prestige should be an overlay for all cosmetics.

Prestige visuals being locked to default outfits makes them almost impossible to use. Making Prestige an overlay that applies on top of any cosmetic would instantly fix this.

What an Overlay System Would Fix

If the Prestige effect simply layered over any outfit, players could:

  • Show off their Prestige without sacrificing their favorite cosmetics
  • Use the grind rewards more often, making Prestige feel more meaningful
  • Customize freely without losing identity or bragging rights
  • Keep monetized cosmetics relevant while still honoring progression

Add one toggle “Apply Prestige: On/Off” and players get the best of both worlds.

What About Licensed IP Outfits?

Some licensed IPs might not allow Prestige FX on their cosmetics.
Easy fix:

  • Exclude specific outfits from receiving the overlay
  • Keep overlays fully available on original DBD characters and non-restricted skins

This respects licensing while still giving most players the flexibility they want.

Why It’s Good for DBD

  • More visual diversity in lobbies
  • More motivation to Prestige
  • Better use of existing art assets
  • Improved player satisfaction with zero gameplay impact

Prestige is a major time investment — it deserves to be visible on more than just default outfits.

This system could easily be applied to legacy or possibly p100 rewards. (Or unlocked as a p100 reward)
