the dbd console experience
as a mainly pc player, i played dbd a little bit on the ps5 recently and here's what i noticed
-60 fps lock meaning you get harder skillchecks than 90 or 120 fps on pc and less smooth gameplay
-there seems to be an input delay here but you might not be able to tell if you didnt play on pc before. it might be due to the aforementioned 60 fps lock
-killer is severely disadvantaged. it is much harder to turn around or flick, much harder to aim with any aiming killer, survivor 360's actually work. basically every killer is harder to play and some are simply nerfed on controller
-cannot go to low graphics and gain a gameplay advantage like in pc
-cannot use reshaders or any other software (optional)
-no in game text or ptb (not a big deal)
wow, it was a horrible experience, and i would not recommend it, just buy the game on pc if you were stuck
not unplayable but it's not a really good port

Also locked to like 30 FPS on the consoles it was originally released on.
Turns out BHVR can't optimize

Don't do this experience on the Switch 1 for your sanity

If it's all you know, you manage, but yeah, there are some killers I won't even play. It would take too much to learn them when I can just play others. Getting spun is easy, and doing a well-timed spin as survivor is hard. Sensitivity adjustment helps a little, and the input lag feels normal when you're used to it.

I developed my own solution for being spun if you are mindful about aim deessing; I spin with the spinners like a silly Lil goober which waves my damage hitbox around, as m1s linger a fair bit. I did it to be a memelord but it seems to genuinely confuse people, and one guy thought I was a high dpi PC sweatlord

honestly nothing but respect for u guys playing killer on console. Console made me a survivor main while i was on it

ye i originally played on xbox for a few years. i had no idea how bad it was until i played the game on pc. since playing on pc, console is unplayable for survivor for me. the delay in skill checks is astounding, i have no idea how i managed for so long on console. will never go back to console.

And yet most of the playerbase is on the consoles, darn near all of which continue to use a controller. And from what I've read, somehow they've still managed a small input delay even with the M&K. So well optimized.

Bro is your sensitivity at 500%? By the time I do a full spin with a joystick the match is over.
I tend to sort of look toward the ground so I can predict a sudden movement, but I also want to look up, so my camera does this constant up and down movement. I didn't realize just how odd it looked and how much I do it until I started clipping stuff for bug reports.

I've never played on PC so don't know what I'm missing, but I do remember when I went from the Switch to PS5 and the game became ten times easier. I imagine PS to PC would be similar lol

I find killer easier than survivor on controller, at least for the serious parts of survivor. Tight, sharp, precise movements during chase are difficult with the slow acceleration of joysticks, so those perfect juicer chases feel unobtainable.
Depends on the killer though. Ranged killers are rough. Billy and Nurse too. There are little things that are hard even with killers I use. Selecting from Vecna's spell wheel is wonky and I constantly choose the wrong ones. Freddy and Dredge's teleport lining-up are a bit weird and I regularly send Dredge to the basement for no reason. I don't even bother with techs.
I do okay with both roles though, and both my ER and KR are on the rise, so I can't really complain. It's the Switch players that need all our blessings.

bro no offense but nobody cares about your screenshots, seriously, like welcome to the real world. if you think you're getting some kind of shock reaction wake up 15 year old

"No offense" lol

just max controller sensitivity. playing Legion and Spirit in particular, those characters in particular are desperate about not getting spun when it counts.

I have lol

hitting great skill checks on console takes an act of congress

Honestly PS5 isn't that bad; the really notable thing is the input lag, which is significant. That said, it really screws me more when I hop on my PC because I am so used to it that it takes almost a whole match of early missed skill checks to adjust to the button press actually registering when I press the button lol. You really have to be in rare form to consistently hit great skill checks on console.
And yeah, it's easier to get spun as a killer on console, but you can make adjustments. I haven't had a consistent issue with it in years.
But DbD is much more of a lax couch/TV game for me, and difference isn't enough to change that. And I 'd wager that after like 6K hours on PlayStation, I'm better than like 90% of PC players out there (if only because that many hours have allowed me to compensate for the handicap).
And yeah, it is easier on PC, but playing effectively on console (even at mid+ MMR) can be done.
Switch 1, otoh…I have no idea how that can even work lol. Props to anyone masochistic enough to manage it
