Why are flashlight save challenges still being used?
Because I refuse to believe that they occur in any more than 1% of solo queue matches.
Not only are they extremely easy to avoid as killer the vast majority of the time, but there are multiple perks (that don't even have that low of a pick rate) that make them even easier to avoid. As well as this, survivor perks that could be used to help with this challenge have all had some pretty serious nerfs.
I'm not even trying to ask BHVR to make saves easier because that would take the game back to a state that, as I'm sure most of us will agree, was rather unhealthy. But I'd really like to encourage BHVR to stop using this challenge.
I'm all for challenges being tricky at times, but for solo players, this challenge just consists of crossing your fingers and hoping the killer makes a mistake.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that challenge won't be happening for me. Thankfully I've already completed the rift…

not to mention when killers see 2 or more flashlights, they will bring Lightborn, I do the same I ain’t dealing with that lol

Flashlights should be removed from the game altogether. They only exist for SWFs to bully inexperienced killers.

Okay I don't actually do the challenges on purpose but I do get flashlight saves quite often as I always bring a flashlight. This often turns around the momentum of a match completely. And no this is not in baby MMR I have 4K hours and do this to highly experienced killers when they least expect it. I run Sprint Burst and Vigil which helps to get into position when the killer thinks I'm too far. I rarely go out of my way for a flashlight save. I just do the gens and often a survivor gets downed somewhat near the gen. That's when I go for them.
Flashlight is also very useful for protecting tunneled survivors because they can't tunnel a survivor they can't see. And to disorient killer at pallets...it's always funny watching the killer walk around like they're drunk and by the time they realize which direction I went in I'm long gone. As for Lightborn, I have no problem when killer brings that since they use up a perk slot which means one less Pain Res, DMS, Corrupt, etc. After the first blind attempt fails I know they have Lightborn and now they've wasted a perk slot to nullify my flashlight.

I kept trying. Eventually noticed the killer challenge for revealing survivor auras, and thought "mirror myers could probly do that the easiest" and he was also the easiest to get an interupt/grab for the opposite of the blind save challenge, so i got it done finally. both in the same 1 round lol

You can blind the Killer while they are hooking a Survivor. They will obviously not drop the Survivor, but will still get blinded, which will give you the challenge.
