Why does this game stress you out?

I know this isn't just a DBD thing, far from it but it seems like this game just stresses so many people out. Now bugs or cheaters is one thing but otherwise I dont see why this game would be stressful. I've had matches that are disappointing because they ended too soon or intense but in a good way but this game doesn't make me feel angry or stressed. It's a video game it's meant to de-stress us.

When I go into a survivor match I honestly expect to lose and as a killer when survivors escape then good for them it means they played well. So I guess my question is what specificly stresses you out in this game. I'm not asking in a judgemental way just a conversational way.

It doesn't stress me out at all (I have anxiety irl and avoid all things that trigger it, kind of amusing that DBD does not lol) but I've seen alot of people put their stress down to performance anxiety. I think it helps to remember the people you're playing with don't know you from a bar of soap and you could walk past each other on the street later that day and not have a clue. You don't owe strangers anything.

Ghoul/Blight/Nurse make me try way harder than I ever should in a casual horror multiplayer game. Mistakes are way too punishing against them, as their momentum from a single down with the gen lock/gen regression meta is insane and their is nothing in place to stop tunneling. There is no breathing room between chases coz of the insane mobility they have.

What's more stressful is the devs won't do nothing to remedy this issue, so survivors are forced to play "Gen rush" and to leave each other to die just to get out, it's boring.

I don't mind losing at all, I just want to have more time to interact with the killer, save others, find items, not just hammer gens.

I just want to enjoy the game casually lol

Survivor can stress me out sometimes because I jumpscare very easily (even other Survivors can jumpscare me!). However, Killer time is so relaxing. Although occasionally on two floor maps a Survivor will fall from the ceiling and jumpscare me there, too.

The Nightmare and Houndmaster and The Dredge, and The Onryo are by far the most relaxing killers for me.

It's so funny you say that coz I screamed the other day in chaos shuffle when my gen blew up and then screamed again when one of the other survivors came around the corner.

The new Myers being able to change stealth at will has been so fun (the part I like about the rework) coz the amount of times he has scared me has been a lot.

I suppose the only points these days that id get stressed is when you start getting turbo tunneled off the hooks, or you are against a survivor thats really being rude but also cannot be caught up to by normal means.

Bully squads on the other hand are somehow relaxing because they dont do gens lol so its just them trying to mess with you till they fail.

I'm not easily stressed out, but you know that feeling where you have a string of games in a row, where it feels like you can't seem to catch a break at all. That is what stresses me out the most about the game.

Also, being in the shoes of Michael Myers with Scratched Mirror. Now that can be peak horror in this game

  • Because opponents often emotionally abuse me by bming me and/or telling me to kill myself since I support trans rights and am gay or due to my play-style.

I'm mostly stressed by the Quests being all mandatory if you want the rewards. Just make the rift enough. Literally every rift quest being required is insane and dread the matches that I play when not in the mood.

The most stressful thing is probably the devs promoting unhealthy gameplay by design for years..

no serotonin release to be had if you are rug pulled at every step of the way. Stun at every pallet, every pick up gets rescued, etc. yet you have to have a cheery smile and pretend you don't realize you're getting destroyed.

if you've ever played LoL or OW you've probably experienced it there. 20 minute matches decided within 1 minute, people giving up immediately yet you have to play it out for possibly up to 20 minutes or else you get penalized.

this was why I tried setting my own goals, for example touch and experiment more surfaces on the Unknown.

Nothing on survivor side but killer stresses me out. As survivor there's 3 others to pick up the slack and I could care less about dying probably cause I enjoy Hell Divers where death happens all the time in the most unexpected ways.

Killer its mostly due to just too many survivors being toxic over anything you can think of and the smallest mistake can cost you the game. Land the M1 on the survivor right in front of you? LOL aim-dressing says NO go hit the wall instead and the survivor escapes because of it. Game formula hasn't really changed at all you feel forced to use certain characters, perks, or a play style to even have a chance or risk having the game be a one sided stomp and it feels like there's absolutely nothing I can do unless the other side decides to throw.

Honestly, you'll be fine if you just play when you feel like it. I sometimes go ages without playing, but you can catch up on multiple quests in just a handful of games. Just remind yourself that you don't have to finish them all the week they come out. You can always do it later when you can be bothered.

I'm not very skittish but since I'm on alert I regularly get spooked by teammates suddenly running up to my gen or popping out from behind a corner when the killer is a stealth one.
