Apply dc penalty to last-second lobby dodging
I've seen a uptick of this behaviour again, and it's really annoying me.
What happens is that people queue up, ready up, and then as soon as the timer hits zero and we're about to go into the offering screen, someone dips and leaves everyone behind in the lobby. This is a massive waste of everyone's time since now we have to wait for a new player to fill the gap and sit through that whole process again.
I think it's time to implement a system that considers doing this as a disconnect and should apply the appropriate penalties. That will surely discourge people from doing this going forward.
Thoughts?

Just get rid of the lobby entirely imo. Show survivors each other's load out in the match in the escape menu.
At that point they're already in the match and disconnecting already incurs a penalty. It doesn't need to be complicated

It's always some comp wannabe looking Ace with usually anom mode.

I see this a lot, especially on the EU server.
More often than not, it is players with globes next to their names.3 -
TCM introduced DC penalty for lobby dodging. Didn't end well for that game.

You are correct. Which is why I want it to be clear that I am not advocating for punishing lobby dodging in general, just for this specific scenario.
Because if you dip at the moment the game is about to start, you're not doing it because you might fear an unfavourable match-up or bad teammates, you're doing it just to be a troll.2 -
Not compareable at all, since TCM had different characters.

Lobby dodging is a necessary evil because the matchmaking has been non-functional for years. As soon as I stop getting paired with literal brand new players on a regular basis, I will support penalties for lobby dodging. Also, half the anon mode teammates I get matched with DC the first time they get downed. If I have no way of avoiding these types of matches, I simply won’t play the game anymore.

was horrible essentially killed the game lmao

Like I said, it's not lobby dodging in general I want to discourage or see a punishment for.
It is explicitly that last-second leaving that has to be tackled. Because that serves no purpose other than being intentionally annoying.3 -
That's… not the reason that game died.

And lobby dodging just makes it even worse, because then the game will throw in new players to fill the lobby that you left.

That’s only because the matchmaking system gives up after like 10 seconds of waiting. I think most people would be completely fine waiting a little longer to find a teammate of similar skill level. I know I certainly would. If someone leaves my lobby and a brand new player comes in as the backfill, I’m just going to leave myself. I’d rather wait a minute or two to find a similar skill level player than go find another lobby.

TCM isn't exactly comparable though, lobby dodging in that game was caused by two main factors:
- Being able to see the family members you were going to be playing against
- Limiting the playable characters to one per match
Neither of these factors are present in dbd

I'm always baffled by this. Regular lobby dodging I get, but the last second ones are so strange. Why waste yours and others time for no reason?
It always is!

I don't think lobby dcing is much of a problem I think the bigger problem is dcing during a match is
