So, Obsession Perks.

What's your stance on em?
Are they balanced? All of them or some of them? What makes a good Obsession Perk? Is the "Obsession" mechanic balanced, or in the right place? Should it be changed?
Just wondering what everyone thinks about them.

The only really good survivor obsession perk is DS, and it's broken. Killers have some good options when it comes to this perk too (Rancor, STBFL, Remember Me), but half the time it isn't worth the perk slot because there are usually better options.
It's balanced IMO, but some of the perks could use some adjusting, mostly one in particular. The mechanic is fine otherwise.

I think being the obsession should by default have a benefit and a problem other than perks. Someone running just sole survivor only has the bonus of "maybe nurses wont let them find me" and "maybe they'll juggle me so i can escape for free". Rancor did it right (as long as you ignore the free mori) with the obsession seeing the killers aura. Hopefully the next chapter has some better obsession perks.

I would say Save The Best For Last is also very good. Probably the second best obsession perk after DS and the best one for Killer.

Really underutilized mechanic. It's just a perk. Nothing really changes.

Not only that but some perks are just bad. Dying Light encourages tunneling and DS is the most busted and broken perk in the entire game. Plus why can non-obsessions use it? That defeats the purpose of being the obsession.

Perhaps if Obsession became a feature rather than perks then it could have allowed for more experimentation. Both killer and survivor have to opt-in while in the lobby, then the game picks one of the volunteers as the obsession and random effects apply i.e:

    - This survivor has +20% repair speed for the game, but when they're on the hook everyone else suffers -20% repair speed.

    - This survivor has the broken effect all game, but if they escape all survivors gain a huge BP reward at the end.

    - This survivors aura is revealed for 5 seconds every 60 seconds, but for them alone the killers terror radius goes from 32m to 46m

    - This survivor can heal at double speed, but if they're within 8 metres of another survivor more than 5 seconds than that other survivors aura is shown to the killer.

I mean these aren't perfect examples they're just off the top of my head but you get the point. You could introduce a lot of stuff to mix up the game. Whereas right now Obsession = Decisive Strike.
