100% Tomb Challenge Completion
I have been playing Dead by Daylight daily for four years now. When I first started playing, I tasked myself with completing every Tome challenge so I could unlock all the lore before all the changes were made. Several years of playing daily have passed, and I only have about 100 challenges left across all the Tomes. I just finished Tome 7 this morning. It’s been so difficult, but rewarding in its own right.
Is anyone else out there on a mission to finish every Tome challenge? How are you hanging in there with it? I’m curious to see if other players are in the same boat that I am in. It’s been my only hobby for years.

I used to slowly poke away at it, but kinda stopped entirely when the times got pushed back with the new menu layout.

I too have completed all Tomes, did so a long while ago! The first few were by far the most challenging. You can tell DBD has come a long way with how some of these old tome challenges are structured: 4 sacrifices in basement in the same match is a tough order in today's DBD.

I used to really enjoy doing the tombs. I liked the idea of slowly unlocking the lore, it gave a deeper sense of purpose to what was going on.
Since the change though I haven't cared as much.

I actually finished all Tome challenges too, and yeah, some of them were insanely grindy. The early ones especially felt outdated, like they were designed for a different era of DBD. Stuff like basement hook requirements was easily one of the worst for me, because it forces a specific playstyle and can take forever unless the match just happens to line up perfectly.
Another thing that aged badly is the “basic attack” type of challenges. Back then a lot more hits counted as basic even when they came from a power, so you could clear those challenges naturally while playing. These days far more things are correctly classified as special attacks, so if a Tome wants a ton of basic hits and you play a power heavy killer, you are basically forced to swap to M1 killers just to make progress. That is the kind of stuff that makes old challenges feel even grindier now than they probably were at the time.
It is doable, but I would not recommend hard focusing on the grindy challenges or you will burn out fast. I treated a lot of them as background goals while playing normally, and over time they just completed themselves. The really specific ones are still annoying, but if you space them out and do them when you are already in the right mood to play killer, it is much less painful.

I used to do most of them as they released but then stopped with last few or so, only doing what I needed to max out the rift. I still work on them as I do the current rifts but I don't really pay much attention to them or go out of my way.
I probably only have like 30 or so challenges to do, if that. 1-13 maybe 14 are all done with only a few challenges needed here and there from the others.
I still keep up with 100% achievements every chapter. The only one I need currently is the Don't Open Dead Inside for completing the gen on that map. Since it's release, I have yet to get it a single time as survivor and have used like 30 map offerings. I've got it like 6 or 7 times randomly as killer though. -_-0 -
Once i finnished all those i went for all achievements, which are also tough especially adepts for killers and opening the exit gate on rpd and escaping 20 times etc. Once all thise were done i truly felt like there was nothing left to do in the game except prestige my favorite characters to 100. Once i prestiged 8 of my favorites it now feels like theres nothing to do except play for bloodpoints and and i have idea what i even want to put them in lol. Anniversary is probably the only big meaningful thing left to collect 1000s of cakes and earn a lifetime supply of the best offerings.
