Killers that belong in 2v8

So as you know Devs are being over cautious about adding new killers to 2v8 but I think there are totally safe Killers they could add that won't be problematic or annoying enough they would have to remove them.

Safe Bet Killers:

Unknown

Demogorgon

Dredge

Pinhead

Artist

The Lich

Houndmaster

Freddy

Springtrap

I think these Killers have a place in 2v8 as long as Devs can figure out killer items spawning and get the license permission they won't be a problem in 2v8 if they got added.

Devs give them a chance even if you can't get license permission there's original killers you can add still.

Mhm. Years ago i played Identity V's duo hunt. Back then I think the only disabled killer was the photographer who was already using the 2v8 UI to track copies of the survivors in his own photgraph-paralell dimension. ( He could attack copies while phased to damage survs, i hope it makes sense)

He was disabled cuz he'd break the UI with twice the survs and needed a NEW UI just for him.

Dbd's killer seem rather tame with only adding interactible objectivs at designated points.

Pinhead for example', same with dredge and vecna², is that they affect all survivors at once. But you could easily tweak the durations, charge rates or spawn amount, depending on map size.

Man I'd love to see demo in 2v8. I think freddy and spring trap would be a problem though. Not balance wise but i think bhvr are trying to avoid killers that add new static items to the trials, i.e. spring traps doors or freddy's clocks. They already had to amalgamate wesker and nemi's chests.

I'm not familiar with identity V but It kinda makes sense and yeah most killers can join they just need tweaks to fit 2v8

Well that's kinda a counter argument cause they were able to solve the static item problem they can totally do it sure it'll take some time but it's possible and until then they still add killers who don't have that problem.

Demo, Unknown, Artist, Dredge, Houndmaster, pinhead. I want more killers in this mode and I will not stop advocating for it.

It only worked with those 2 because they already had the same chest design. And when both are in a match the spray cans just cure both infections.

If they add one of the other killers that uses these and they are played alongside each other or wesker/nemi they have to have 2 full sets of spawns for 2 different sets of static islands. Which would be an issue and clutter the map a lot.

But yeah definitely want to see more killers in 2v8. I'm surprised they didn't add more with this current 2v8 event.

Well when they answered how they choose killers for 2v8, they consider:

1: is it simple to add (m1 killers for example)

2: does it need license permission (xeno/myers/freddy/ghoul etc)

3: does it have a counter item (dredge locks / pyramid head's box / singularity emps etc)

4: does it visually effect the map ( the first / dredge / freddy etc.)

5: does it have a status effect that can mix with others (unknown / singularity / nemisis / plague etc)

6: does it keep mosr of the team injured easily, which seems to be the one they want to avoid completely (legion / plague ).

They seem to want to add the simpler killers first, if licenses allow, and then try to figure out a way killers with items or world effects can fit into the game together, nemisis and wesker being the first success because they have the same boxes and both involve curing status effects. But complications come from stuff like having singularity and xeno where theyd have to find a way for emps and turrets to exist without flooding the map, or being useless against the opposite killer etc.

We should have Knight and Skull Merchant.

Licensed Killers are less likely to be added due to contractual obligations some will have in agreements with the copyright holders (i.e. crossover-type interactions are not allowed without more negotiations).

I would love to see more Killers in 2v8 but my personal faves like Unknown, Plague or Hag would need serious changes to make any sense in the mode.

These might be the worst killers to add in my opinion ... Knight is fun in 1 vs 4 but the npcs just make it 2 hard for survivors unless you'd really slow them down to a point they'd be pretty much useless ... Nemi's zombies only are an option because they are slow and can be blinded or hit by a pallet. Either way, love knight, but sad to say I don't think he'd be fun in 2vs8

Skull merchant could be ok at the start of a trail, but as soon as some survivors are dead, she quickly controls way to much of the maps which makes the trail impossible to quickly for survivors

But that's just my opinion, I'm happy to listen to your arguments :)

Truth be told, my friend, I don't have any arguments.

I just would like to have a killer to play in 2v8, and these two are basically the only killers I play these days.

I feel like of the remaining killers in the roster that could be included, Clown and Bubba would be the easiest as they have neither a status effect (as in, what would need to show on survivor HUD) or anything on the map that would need to be added. Of course, the wider survivor base is not fond of Clown and Bubba being licensed makes that a whole different thing.

Personally I would love to see Xenomorph added. The Alien franchise has always been willing to work with BHVR when it comes to skins and such, so feel maybe that one isn't out of the realm of possibility. Just unsure how they'd work out the whole tunnels aspect of Xeno in 2v8.

Well then by that checklist killers like Hag and Clown should be able to get in Quickly

They can always just make the maps bigger to make room for the killer related items

I don't think Skullmerchant will make it in however they could add Knight but he wouldn't be that good since he can only send one guard out on a survivor and then hes just a regular m1 killer but he could be in 2v8

Increasing map size affects the game in a pretty big way. Killers without traversal have a much tougher time and it makes things worse for survivors with the whole cage mechanic too.

2v8 is fun and more killers would be good but there are a lot of mechanical challenges to overcome when adding certain killers. Like they've already had to remove legion from the game mode. They need to be careful about what they introduce.

Personally I think knight would be good. Killers need more ways to pressure gens hands free in 2v8 and knight would be good for that. Skull merchant probably wouldn't be too bad, or at least no worse than 2 traversal killers holding down a tight grouping of gens for the last 1 or 2.

I dont think Pinhead is a safe inclusion. Bubba seems to be a lot safer in comparison.

To my understanding we can't have any more killers with stations because we have Nemmy and Wesker taking up that spot with their combined vaccine/spray system. To bring in another killer with a map element they'd probably have to remove both the RE boys to replace them with a single killer. That won't go over well, even if I'm absolutely fed up of dealing with the zombies.

That rules out Pig, Springtrap, Plague, Xeno, Sadako, Freddy, Singularity, Henry, Vecna.

Additional items may also present a problem, as we already get those from Wesker/Nemmy and tellingly, if both killers are present this will default to the spray instead of a mix of both items.

    This rules out Krasue (maybe).

We also can't have any locker killers due to conflict with Huntress' reload.

So no Dredge and no Trickster.

Myers and Pinhead are out because expired licenses.

Pretty much anyone else is possible, at least from my layman's perspective. I imagine there are more challenges to getting them to function correctly and balance them properly than I picture, because I have no idea what kind of spaghetti the devs have to work with these days.

Reloading Killers can be slightly reworked to have a passive ammo regain allowing Dredge to come in. Krasue should be possible since shrooms just spawn in the open.

  • zonkednb
    zonkednb Member Posts: 337

Honestly that might be worthwhile. I feel Huntress struggles to keep up in 2v8 unless she's cracked so a passive reload would be nice.

As for Krasue 'shrooms, yes they wouldn't have conflict in the spawn logic, but is there anything in the game that allows for carrying 3 items at once?

In 2v8, you'd get Flashlight, Vaccine and Glowing Fungus all at once, potentially. I suspect this will be trickier to implement than one would imagine given every file in this game is the TF2 coconut PNG.
