$1000 Dev Challenge
I won’t name names specifically but a YouTuber offered up 1k for charity with the goal of creating conversation around balance in a friendly manner and to help animal shelters near him.
He basically wants a high up bhvr dev that weighs in on balance to win as many games as they can in a row on weaker killers, gifting $100 to charity for every win. If they lose they can retry the challenge to get even more money donated.
I highly recommend everyone to recommend and share the video to reach as many eyes as possible as it’s for a good cause.❤️
And for the love of god don’t dox this guy and ruin his life like the glazers from helldivers.

Mathieu Cote had this one game almost 10 years ago and yet people are still going on with this nonsense to bring the Devs to play in hope they get Buffs on Killers?

or he could donate the money if he wants or keep it? really up to him? i dont even know what we are trying to prove here. low tier killers are low. they can still win. Putting a prize for charity on it via challenging a dev would not do anyone asking for those buffs any favor. I'm sure they are aware some killers have fallen behind and their time will come.

The fact that they want them to win ten matches in a row just proves how ridiculous this game is. Imagine asking a starcraft dev to win ten matches in a row or an overwatch dev or a league dev. You would be laughed at. Here ten wins in a row is considered nothing on the killer side yet they will claim playing killer sucks if any random player isn't able to get a small win streak. No one should expect to be able to win that many times in a row. Why are we not also asking them to escape ten matches in a row in solo queue? Because that would be considered a ridiculous expectation.
Especially when he doesn't have any real say in game balance. The guy's job is getting licenses for the game not designing killers or balancing.

No he has to get his circus.

i feel like this kinda useless and is just a way to pressure devs

Sure but that doesn't get them their precious views and desperately desired attention. Like, do nice stuff without anyone looking at you? Who does that?

he said he regularly donates money anyway.
And as I said the money will be donated no manner how many wins they get before failing. And they can keep retrying until they hit 10 wins.
4 wins, $400, 6 wins $600 etc etc.
I don’t see the problem here at all, charity gets money and weak killers maybe get looked at, it’s a win win.-3 -
You mean that hag game, I still beleive even nowdays he wouldnt be much better only thing that would help him is mmr because the less you play the more potatoe tier players you get to face which wasnt the case back in 2017.

Yeah, and CC gets attention. The devs have data on killers. As much as this community likes to think so, they don't have more information than the people who make the game. This is a spectacle and nothing more.

Problem is, that this shouldnt be a condition.
They could donate the mentioned money PLUS any direct income for this charity event on top (from views, tips, viewer donations)
then the other problem is expecting balance changes because of a developers performance in their game. That precedent of Cote and the flashlight mechanics seriously damaged this Community (even though the changes were needed)
charity and even raising awareness are not the problems.4 -
we need someone to offer up 1k for the reverse as well.
Have 4 devs play against s tiers or use bad perks to get them buffed and knock the s tiers down a peg
Buff pebble

It would be foolish of BHVR to engage with either of these challenges. A showcase in support of charity is a nice idea but is the realm of content creators. No matter the outcome, BHVR loses.
- Playing as low tier and loses or is unable to get to ten wins
- "BHVR sucks at their game"
- "Look how weak these killers are, this proved it and they still won't buff them, survivor biased"
- If they instead win those matches
- "The survivors they went against were bad, BHVR is low mmr"
Going against s tier killers
- They win
- "these killers are not as strong as people claim"
- "swf is op, we need these killers to face them, nerf swf"
- They lose
- "four man swf and they still can't win, BHVR sucks at their game"
Its lose lose, best course of action is to not engage.
3 - Playing as low tier and loses or is unable to get to ten wins
-
it’s a win win, if they engage it gives them an opportunity to earn some good faith in the community and charity gets paid.
You’re letting the loud minority stop a good thing

I think you are placing too much faith in this community. The majority of content creators are killer mains (not an us vs them, a statement of fact) and many of their followers take whatever they say as gospel. Those followers repeat that to everyone they know and we get the content creator group think we have now. No matter the outcome it will be used as confirmation of BHVR favoring survivors.
The creator that issued the challenge has videos titled "The Straw That Broke The Killer's Back," "DBD Killers Can't Keep Up Anymore," "This PTB Proves Behaviour isn't Listening," "The Crime of Playing Killer Correctly." I don't think they are arguing or issuing this challenge in good faith in the first place. Just compare those title to how they did in their most recent stream, 1 loss on killer, the rest wins.

perhaps it was naive of me to think that the community could actually come together on something for once.
I’m a staunch believer in multiple things being things being true at once and the 2 cakes thing. The game has overpowered S tier killers fact, the game has underpowered low tier killers fact, there’s a bunch of garbage bottom of the barrel perks that bvhr doesn’t touch fact, dbd isn’t new player friendly still fact, maps sway violently between killer/survivor sided fact, bleed out slugging and hard tunneling are boring as all hell fact.
If the community as a whole acknowledged these facts and the devs addressed them one at a time, Us vs. Them would be dead and buried years ago.

You could very likely get agreement on all of that.
bleed out slugging and hard tunneling are boring as all hell fact.
You will find many people that disagree with these though and if any attempt is made to replace them they better be incredibly favorable to the killer otherwise you will just have a repeat of the Krasue ptb where changes were scrapped a mere two days after the ptb launched. While most of the previously mentioned statements effect both sides these second ones largely only "harm" survivors and there are killer players that will refuse any attempt to have them removed. Hell, we had a thread here only a little while back that just wanted to handle slugging for the 4k and there were plenty of people defending it there.
I honestly wish I could see it the way you do and that we could just look at it as a way for the community to have a bit of fun together for charity.
