Anniversary (Cakes & Items)
Before starting - for the record I have loved this game so much and am so sad to have to even say any of this.
Why have BHVR chosen to reward us (for the 10th anniversary celebrations) with a NERF? For 9 years this game had massive amounts of anniversary offerings, med-kits, toolboxes and flashlights for every birthday event. What have they given us this year? They decided to significantly reduced the amount you can get. This is a huge nerf to the main reason many of us play anniversary events in the first place. It's bad enough that this years event is already so unbalanced, we're all wondering why they would release something this one sided. Balance has been one of the biggest points of conversation throughout DbD's life and yet for it's 10th anniversary, they released an event this tone deaf. It's almost like they haven't been listening at all. This is a massive disappointment as I know I'm not the only one who had this event noted on their calendar.
It's really sad that what should have been a celebration has resulted in so many of us feeling completely ignored and letdown, but hey, happy 10th birthday DbD… to hell with the players who got you here.

And I was thinking of booting the game up again for the first time since my 2 matches in October specifically BECAUSE of the anniversary… 😭

Yeah, dbd broke the all time player count and now nobody wants to play. Kinda crazy.

When did I say nobody wants to play? I said it's a big disappointment to many of us who only play the anniversary event for the items and offerings.
Personally I logged in when the event released to spend some bloodpoints and get the offerings and items (and stopped when I realised they nerfed it or may be bugged) and then logged off, occasionally booting back up to see if it's fixed. Just because people logged on doesn't mean they were actually playing. Obviously lots of people are playing though, and I didn't ever say everyone's refusing to play because of it.

Well every other generic event has always not been particularly good for bloodpoint offerings. Anniversary events have always been generous with these items and offerings, which is mostly why they've been so successful. This year it's a huge disappointment because they are so scarce now, and I can confirm for myself that it's completely taken the fun out of it and I haven't touched the game since the event started.

Here before the thread gets locked but… We are going on 26+ hours of the event and basically no meaningful communication or "Yikes, you're right, guys, this is pretty ugly. We'll fix this in XYZ amount of time!".
Your "we are investigating reports of Torte spawn frequency" bores me and shows me that you do not care about why we are all so pissed about this.

The event used to have the Shrine of Secrets change daily and now it's weekly? I literally save my shards for this event, lmao. Should we be surprised they shafted this event?

They said they fixed it but there's barely any difference. Let's hope they'll revert the rarity back to common like it's meant to be. Not shaping up to be a good event this year…

There are 3 weeks to go of the event - let's give them a chance to make some tweaks and who knows, they might extend it too. Fingers crossed.

I hope they do, I'll be gone from home the latter half of July but I still would love an extension out of solidarity's sake. My hope is that the upcoming Tuesday hotfix has a rarity change to the Cakes.
