Remember pre Last Survivor Mori...

…where the last survivor had higher chances to get the hatch when not struggling against the killer?

Killers were either "Nope I deserve that hook" or "A'ight we cool"

I mean, it's to be expected.

Triggering the mori is faster, and once it's started you can sit back and the game will end.

    Not really?

I feel like killers were just as likely to slug for the 4k and just as unlikely to carry you to hatch before. The last survivor mori had basically zero impact on this as far as I've observed.

I remember it all too well.
Personally, I think that was one of the unhealthiest changes that the game has ever seen.

I never gave the hatch because survivor did not struggle I decided that before I even picked up. I have given hatch even after they added the abandoning feature and have to admit some others might have got it too but they like to abandon before that so their problem not mine. Another reason why the 10 second grace timer before the abandoning comes available could be useful but I am just shouting in the wind with that one.

I feel this is a lot of rose tinted glasses. Slugging for the 4K has been a thing longer than the final survivor mori. I remember old hatch standoffs where killer and survivor would stare each other down at an open hatch, because the killer needed the grab and the survivor needed to wait for the killer to swing. Since there was no match timeout, this could go on forever.

If you truly wanted to remove slug for 4K situation, you would need for the game to auto-sacrifice survivors when there is only 1 survivor left standing and force the game into a final faceoff state where the game is basically a 1v1. Survivor outlasts the Killer, they escape. Killer catches the survivor, they die.

i mean, hatch is already a bad mechanic. having a system that reduces it a bit is good. especially when the system is a small reward for winning as killer while hatch is a reward for losing as survivor

this is simply untrue; hatch is an in game mechanic to encourage ending the match that isn't just straight up pulling the plug.

Without the hatch mechanic, why would I not just reset crows until the server closes? because doing gens at 1 survivor left is 99% impossible. It's how you get the survivor moving to give the killer a chance. The hatch gives hope.

it's killers that get mentally worked up over the hatch. it's merely a formality to close out a game whose conclusion has already been determined.

No, you assume hatch is the ONLY option. which isnt true. far from it. there is infinite ways the game could end without hatch. much better ways

in my opinion the best way is to just skip it entirely. if one survivor is left alive, then power the exit gates and start EGC. there, much better then survivors getting an escape from a single button press.

With last survivor standing, Exit gates should slowly power themselves like EMC printers with Singularity, that way it's a hide and seek and not a possible impossible escape

Also this seems to be more misleading survivor not getting hatch has nothing to do with the end game mori. Its the abandoning feature that caused that to happen as most don't stay in the match to see what happens.

no….. we shouldnt be rewarding survivors for losing. the entire point should just to be to bring the game to close.

i remember the before times when swfs used to 4 escape at 1 gen with a key because hatch spawning was dependant on gens and amount of survivors alive

As a killer main i second. I would way rather them be moving around the map giving me a chance to spot them or crows then them hiding in a corner somewhere for 10 minutes tell they finally get found
