Banned for console crash

I have been banned from games for an hour due to a series of console crashes on my Xbox.

While I know the Xbox crashes may not be a BHVR problem, why am I being penalised for something that is entirely out of my control?

Not to sound like a jerk, but my response to these sorts of things is always that if your console/PC/internet is clearly on the fritz, stop trying to play until it stabilizes. If one of these things happens more than once within a short period of time, that's a sign.

You can't expect everyone/thing to accommodate you if you can't/won't take that hint.

Yeah, it sucks if you just want to play but your equipment/services aren't playing ball, but we've all been there.

there is definitely something that happened update wise around the update with denuvo (but not cause by denuvo as this has impacted all platforms) is more games crashing.

i currently have about 1 in 3-4 killer games crash and surv games dont crash whastoever and have seen an uptick of people mentioning this same situation (killer games crash and surv games dont)on steam and on reddit. in this case, these are not peoples internet but something with the codebase.

people are having surv games crash too but ive avoided having that issue personally.

Right, but OP was saying their console was crashing.

Also even if it were caused by a recent update, before you get to an hour ban, you should know something is wrong. Stop trying for a while and submit some sort of ticket or feedback. It simply isn't realistic to expect BHVR to alter their time out policy to accommodate people with hardware/internet issues and edge cases.

I've experienced clusters of issues my internet crapping the bed (both due to my ISP or a bad ethernet cable), games crashing due to server issues, and my game crashing on PC for hardware reasons (I've essentially abandoned DBD on PC because it's the only game that crashes on my machine (always near the end of a match) and I just couldn't sort out why), and once it happens 2-3 times within an hour or so, I just do something else and try again hours or a day later.

Sucks, but it is what it is.

I just don't think the "the DC penalty is unfair because I feel entitled to beating my head into a brick wall" position is a particularly compelling one.

not to say in his situation its not an issue with hardware but games on consoles can absolutely crash due to the game and not the hardware. should definitely rarer because its 1 singular template frame unlike pc but not everyone who plays dbd would have any idea about bans nor that there is even a way to submit bugs as the game itself doesnt mention its an option and dbd uses(and igtnores completely in many cases like the sadako bug) on betahub which 99% of people have no idea exists.

furthermore, if there is an ongoing issue with crashes which have been constantly reported since the denuvo update or the update right before it, that its probably an issue with the game itself.

I understand and agree that dc penalties shouldnt be removed but if the game can detect a crash then it should not count as one of your dc limits. the amount of people who would find a way to intentionally crash an application (assuming you send a crash report, im assuming console doesnt do that) is WAAAAAY outweighed by people who crash legitimately, people who dc will just dc.

And behavior does NOT fix problems quickly. not now, not 5 years ago.

So there is either the option of dont play the game for a completely unkwon amount of time ranging from weeks to months or more or get penalised for behavior doing a horrible job at quality control considering every single update is breaking things.

So i dont think issuing a complaint on this is at all unreasonable.

it IS unfair that people get que bans because they have zero way to know if behaviors game is going to function properly or not update to update and even if its technically impossible for behavior to separate the two, during periods where there is known issues with crashing, behavior is capable of knowing who are historical DCers and who is DCing as an anaomoly and apply a different weight to penalties.

The console is next gen and new, and doesn’t crash on other games. Why have people assumed it’s the console, and not the patch just added by BHVR?

I think you’ve taken a very extreme and defensive stance to my post, when I think I was very fair in what I said. I’m now led to believe it was the dbd patch that caused it, as it wasn’t happening before. Does this change your opinion at all?

They just released new update where they list this bug fix. "Fixed an issue where the game could crash during loading on some platforms"

Might not help you but it could have been this causing some crashes.
