RE: Optimization question

So does this mean we should expect the 60 FPS on all platforms with the chapter 11 update or the chapter 12 update?

From how it's worded we should see some optimization with Chapter 11 but not all of it. It's an ongoing process.

Indeed. Optimization is a single word for many, many processes that essentially mean that something will make use of fewer resources for the same (or better) performance.

@Orion I mean like when do they expect to reach that milestone of 60 FPS? I understand they have a lot to do to make that work but the timeline isn't very clear.

You shouldn't have rigid timetables when it comes to programming. You'd be surprised how even the simplest functions (on paper) can take a ridiculous amount of time to create.

it wont happen. this game is flat out optimised like a potato. a console wont ever get 60fps. because the console would over heat. i uncapped my fps for dpd and i had to turn up my gtxo 1070 fans on pc so you can imagine how console wouldnt be able to handle the difference for heat reasons it would shut down or damage it lol. i get a massive boost. if the devs can do this without making the console meltdown kudos. but i doubt it!

The tutorial runs at 60fps as killer on the 1X already btw, not quite the same thing but still it shows that the game "can" do it.

A large factor in frame rate on the console version when playing as the killer has to do with player count, as each survivor dies and is removed from the game in turn the frame rate significantly improves.

When it's down to the last survivor and you stand near a building or something similar such as a tree in first person the games peformance is similar (but not as good) to that of the Trapper tutorial.

Many streamers run the game at 60fps+ on PC and have no issues with overheating either.

I'd say it's certainly doable but knowing the devs it could take them a long time to get it done, unless fixing the frame rate before the Nintendo Switch version is released (does the switch version have a release date btw?) is something they are aiming for.

@Easylife I went and played the tutorail again, and yes it definitely is running at a higher framerate than the normal game. 60 perhaps, I'll take your word for it. In any case that is how I expect it to run after all the optimization.

It's going to happen, over time. It's not going to be fully complete for chapter 11, probably not even for chapter 12 or 13, it could take years for all we know. But hopefully, one day, they will achieve 60 fps on all platforms
