Diseases can come from many things, Bacteria, Viruses, and Fungi are just a few. With this being said, what do you guys think the Plague actually is?

I don't know. But it must be something serious to burn half your face, to infect your skin beyond repair and to be so contagious.

Well since nobody else responded I'll toss in my best guess. Though you should be advised that I am not a doctor so take my "diagnosis" with a grain of salt.

If I had to bet money on what type of disease the Plague is, I would guess it's a bacterial disease. My reasoning for this is due to the fact that bacterial diseases can typically withstand a variety of climates. Therefore it makes sense that the Plague's disease remains in full effect across all of the different climates if each of the realms.

Whatever eats flesh and causes boils. Or I can just assume whatever she had they tried to cleanse with fire or boiled water and that didnt work. Since puking is her power I think she has a virus though.

It's probably some rare disease, it did say that it was violent plague that somehow came back out of nowhere, so i would go with that.

I'm pretty sure that the decease the Plague has and the Survivor get are just a reimagination of a decease by the entity.

That would also explain why survivors can cure it by just washing their face with the water on the fountains.

  • The Plague is a Bacterial disease called Yersinia Pestis, it was carried by rodents fleas who in turn infected rodents and also us. The disease dates back over 6000 years in history.

It's a common disease to sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar.

People still die from the disease today.

I would like to mention that Plague's deformities (other than the toe) are indeed a symptom of the disease, not a side effect of a treatment. She didnt burn herself, her skin was rotting. She was disguising the putrid smell with the incense burner after all.

Anyway, if my memory about microbiology lessons from high school doesnt fail me, definitely bacteria, as that is the only one that can cause abscesses. The spread of the disease is an interesting topic though. Its either airborne or direct contact transmission. You would expect a priestess to touch her followers and further spread it (I even think one of her cosmetics says this specifically).

Needless to say, the state of her foot is most likely not related to the disease at all. Probably just a generic infection resulted from cutting her own toe and leaving the (non-plague) infection to spread to the rest of her foot.
