Perk Idea | Swan Song
I am in no way a game designer, just a nerd who loves this game with an idea. If you have any ideas to improve the perk, let me know and lets form a discussion. We're a community, lets make something great.
We've all seen it in movies, and read it in books. There's always the guy that goes down fighting. How do you fight in Dead by Daylight? Well... you don't. You walk in front of the killer and let them smack you to try and buy time for the survivor to wiggle off, which likely won't work.
Now, before ANYONE comments that "This perk is useless why would anyone use it?" I'd like you to consider that No Mither is still in the game, and mocked by the community. Only "This is not happening + Resilience" builds, challenge runners, trolls, and adept Davids will be using it.
Swan song is a perk that will become active when you are the last living survivor in the game, or if you've been hooked once before. With the perk, you can engage the killer with whatever weapon, tool, or moldy stick you find laying around. Charging into them - and successfully connecting - will begin the sequence. If a killer is carrying a survivor, they will be dropped and free to run for their lives. If you miss or get hit by the killer, the perk will go on a heavy cool down, or even cause exhaustion.
In doing so, the survivor will face a series of progressively difficult skill checks up to cap limit. If they miss one skill check (affected by unnerving presence and Huntress' Lullaby) or reach the end, the series is over.
!!!THIS WILL ALWAYS RESULT IN THE SURVIVOR DYING AT THE KILLER'S HAND!!!
Once the fight sequence has ended, the killer will perform their kill animation (same as a momento mori or 5-stack devour hope). The sequence should also not last too long. There's an unused track in the game called Flesh and Bone, which I feel could be a good fit for the sequence.
So what can this perk be used for? Well, if a survivor is being carried to their death hook, you can give your life for theirs... hopefully. This can buy survivors time to finish a generator and proc adrenaline, or get out through the exit gate. If used, it would have to give some boldness points, and a heavy amount of altruism points if you save a survivor, since you're literally giving your life to buy them more time.
