Constant Death Threats From Survivors
Hello all,
I got DBD about 3 weeks ago and have been playing it a lot since then, both as survivor and killer. I've played World of Tanks, League of Legends, Dota 2, Smite, and CS:GO; all of them combined aren't as toxic as survivors are in this game.
Why do so many people seem to intrinsically link their self-worth to this video game? Some of the things survivors say when you have 'wronged them' or when they have 'owned you' is absolutely abhorrent. I am told everyday that I should kill myself or die in a fire. These are visceral gut reactions I'd expect from someone who has felt very, very wrong or betrayed, not someone in a video game.
I can tell the difference between regular smack talk and legitimately thinking someone is a lesser being than you that deserves to die; this is the latter. Some of these guys feel like they are entitled to escape every-time, and if you stop that, you deserve to die in a fire. On the flip side, some of these guys think they are so good that 'they owned you so hard you must be a subhuman'. Similar to cigarette butt you throw out the window when driving. Something of no worth, to be thrown away and discarded. Your life has no meaning; they were able to loop you for 3 minutes on your first time as cannibal; you are subhuman trash.
I have never had this experience with the forum community, but in-game it is pretty damn bad.
I've reported multiple times people that have threatened to kill me. One person even said they would find my IP since I was the host (they'd have access to it allegedly) and that they would track me down and make me watch as they killed my family. I reported them, then ran into them again 2 days later.
Two questions:
1) How did this come about?
2) Why does behavior interactive do nothing to stop it?
Thank you all!
