Killer Audio Issues
This game relies a lot on sound, yet the sound separation is trash.
There's no audio settings to be able to change SFX/Music/UI volume etc.
Its incredibly difficult to differentiate sounds as a killer, really really hard. There's always monotonous sounds in the background, the tool-tips say to listen for footsteps but you can almost never hear them.
The killers make far too much noise.
What is going on? I've watched videos from 1-2 years ago where people were saying the same thing and Cotes laughed about the issue.
Will they ever address the killer audio issues?

I dont mind the background sounds too much. I do agree that the chase music blasting into your ears is too much. However the footsteps of the survivors sometimes randomly disappearign for MINUTES can hurt you alot on high ranks. Its crazy how this issues are STILL not addressed, and keep reappearing over and over and over again.

And then you have the ghosts breathing behind you when no one's there...

I found myself wondering why this wasn't a thing the other day, most games do have the option to balance music and sounds so why not a game that's so reliant on it? I want to be able to actually hear footsteps but then again don't want to boost the in game sounds and someone vaults a window in the distance and destroys my ears, probably just general stuff devs need to fix but choosing if you hear chase music as a killer or not would be nice.

I have a lot of sound issues on certain maps. Haddonfield and the Badham school map. I will be in a chase, the killers heart beat and chase music disappears then comes blaring back into my ears scaring me more then the killer does. Or I will be doing a gen and pan my camera around and all sounds die when panning around corners and the killer is right behind me.

Survivor side is no different, the chase music is 5X as loud as the Hatch
4 -
Yeah it's really annoying as it's very unlikely that you'll hear a survivor doing something unless your like right next to them.
I mean the whispers perk that is supposed to work on hearing whispers doesn't work half the time so you have to look at the perk icon.

Audio is busted.
I get fake breathing all the time, indoor gens completely muffled by walls, fake footsteps in corn and grass, chase music blasting won't let you hear anything when being blinded, etc etc

Indeed, it is disgraceful.

This 100%. Chase music is also too loud in general, for both killer and survivor.

@Condorloco_26 ↑This.
This game relies a lot on audio and the developers managed to ######### up everything but the music constantly, over and over, each and every update.

@se05239 How are killers supposed to play the game properly? Hopefuly they introduce some fixes real soon.

@Condorloco_26 We've learned that survivor fun is more important than killer efficiency. Survivors don't suffer from the issues with buggy audio, so the majority remains happy. Happy customers are good customers.

@se05239 Well the current disparity in ranks in my lobbies just shows there's already a lack of killers in general. I'm consistently getting R13 - R15 survivors in a red rank lobby after just a couple of seconds waiting.
That wouldn't be happening if there were enough people playing killer at the moment.

@Condorloco_26 Precisely.
5 -
Fixing a lot of the killer audio issues might lead to more people playing killer, which greatly reduces lobby times and the skill gap.
sounds like a win-win.

They need to entirely revamp how they use Audio.
As it is now a 99% generator can't be heard simply because there's a wall blocking the sound, same goes for any survivor sounds if they're behind an object.
Footsteps they said they fixed but they're either non existent or they come and go and are so feint you can't rely on it.
And for the love of god, Nobody not killer or survivor like the blaring chase music.

So how can we light a fire under the dev's asses to get this done?
0 -
If I tell you you're gonna be banned in 30 seconds if you don't come up with an answer to that, do you think you're going to magically come up with a solution? Obviously not, so why do you think it'd work with anyone else?
0 -
You Can't. The Most you can do is post in the Bugs section and Hope it gets seen by the right people or the Community team pass it on.
But That being said, These issues have been like this for some time and have been reported multiple times so they most likely are already aware of them. It's up to them now on how and when they go about fixing the problems. All we can do is wait.

@Bongbingbing I've played other games where we were able to force devs to fix problems via mass refusal to play or overloading servers (Eve Online best example).
Why don't we pick a day and all refuse to play? Or we can all refuse to purchase anything until the problems are addressed.

Programming doesn't work faster just because you want it to or point a gun at someone's head. Your actions didn't help programmers find bugs faster or make qualified people want to join the developer team. They were irrelevant. EDIT: Well, that's not exactly true. You ######### over every player who didn't want to join your little crusade and instead just wanted to play the game.
The forum is the line of communication. If you have a bug report, you put it in the aptly named bug report forum.

@MystiKasT I Don't think that would help at all. They want the best for the game and they are probably under a lot of pressure already with the player base declining. Adding more pressure by planning a mass upheaval would just be hurting the game we all love.
I'm sure they are working as hard as they can and don't get me wrong the Devs do fix things but the Main problem is the time in which is takes the Devs to fix and balance things. I don't know if it's because of the spaghetti code or a lack of staff dedicated to that area but They are notoriously slow. It's up to them on how they want to tackle that.

U aswell? Lol, I swear everyone who experienced that first times was questioning his mental state lol
I remember weeks/months ago, I was going crazy
1 -
I thought that was just me confusing the killer's breathing for the survivors' breathing.

@HavelmomDaS1 yes indeed. I thought I was going insane and needed a break.
But I equipped whispers and I can tell you for sure now, I'm not crazy. There are ghosts breathing out there.

Never seen Swordfish...

Yeah, was thinking exactly the same, I seriously took a break for a while. And I found at the same way like that I'm not crazy. Im giving Whispers more reputation now lol

You guys really believe the devs are giving 100%?
I got the 'minimum effort maximum profit' feel from cotes. Like "we'll do only what we need to do".

@jackmadrox I feel your pain brother. I think the devs don't care; why else would so many things in the game remain in such a horrid state?

This... is beautiful, thank you 😂
