Should I run Botany knowledge?

Poweas
Poweas Member Posts: 5,873

I don't run Self care because it makes me inefficient and useless, but should I run Botany knowledge? With that, I can heal people faster and I feel like running it. Is it a viable perk without Self care, or should I just run Self care if I want to use it?

My current build is:

Iron will

Balanced landing

Adrenaline

and Spine chill (I'll probably replace this one).

I like botany, but if you want to heal others I'd run empathy. Let's you track them to find and heal them as well as avoid the killer if someone is being chased.

Botany knowledge is a great perk though.

You could replace adrenaline and run empathy/botany and be super healer. Add well make it and nobody leaves injured XD.

@Carpemortum yeah, i could run empathy, but I wouldn't do anything with that. Im talking about just healing in general, if they come to my gen or something.

@Poweas honestly I didnt realize it was your post at first just assumed someone wanted advice haha.

But yeah, I've run botany a bit replacing self care when I feel like trying to heal, and it definitely seemed to help, but it hasnt been in my rotation in a few weeks so I couldnt give min max advice for or against it.

I'd say it's worth trying out for a day or two and see how you feel? It's why my Ash is sitting with Distortion and Empathy. I refuse to be found lol. Plus it helps keep the Bond sandbaggers at a distance.

It works really awesome in a healing build, I usually use it to heal others though:

Botany, SC, We’ll Make it, DH or Adrenaline.

Along with a green medkit with needle and thread and surgical suture (for those great skill checks). Usually takes about ~8 seconds with this stack to heal.

I see a lot of people who refuse getting healed by others if there's no We'll Make It, therefor I think We'll Make It is much better to have

@Carpemortum OK. What did you mean about you didn't realize it was my post? Do you give mine priority? 😊

@Poweas no, I just meant I would have assumed if I noticed your name that you knew full well what the perks do and I wouldn't have tried to "dumb it down" or give examples how to make it work. I feel like you understand the game pretty well is all Haha.

@Poweas dont get me wrong. I like your posts and general forum presence, I just meant I didnt mean to "talk down" to you as it were. You probably know more than I do XD.

I wouldn't replace spine chill. It's a really good perk

Have you tried autodidact? If you're just wanting to heal other people I highly recommend! I love it.

No the buffs and alert factor of spine chill are much better, botany is more situational but if you're going for a healer role sure, otherwise just use better medkits or plunderers/pharmacy etc. Botany isn't really good enough to waste a perk slot unless you are running self care. As above autodidact is definitely interesting as an alternative.

If you don't use Self Care/Medkits it would feel like a waste of a perk slot.

If you want to heal teammates faster try using Autodidact (and hope for RNG) or run We'll Make It!

@Poweas most survivors run sc so it probably wouldn’t be used much and spine chill is much better.

Botany and self care need to be together. So if you use one, you need the other. As it’s been confirmed that botany knowledge does improve self care speed.

I'll run botany instead of self care and carry a med kit with enough charges to heal myself twice

Botany, self care, lightweight, and poised have been really successful for me.

Bk + sc + brown kit = 2 full self heals btw

I would. I think it basically reverts the healing nerf (healing another Survivor takes around 12 seconds and SC takes around 24). I always try to take Self Care and a medkit with it too so I can heal everyone (including myself) faster.

Self care is 20 seconds max with sloppy butcher. Maybe 24 with a full thanat stack but I doubt it. Default is 16 seconds. Botany (I think) brings it down to 13.

If you only want to use one perk for healing, I'd prefer We'll Make It.

If you want to bring a medkit for yourself, you can totally use Botany Knowledge. BK is a good perk but it really shines in combination with another perk or a medkit.

An alternative: Use Bond. You can find other players faster that way so you can heal each other. Since Bond is also useful in other situations, it's my favourite.

Botany has certainly helped me out, and my teammates. I've had many situations where me and my teammates were able to escape the area more quickly, and safely because of the help of botany.

Botany also helps if someone is downed so you don't have to worry about how long it can take (since it's pretty quick).

However, We'll make it is probably the best. You will have survivors hooked here and there if you're the type to rescue or do a little bit of everything (as all survivors should be doing).

I used to run a healer build for fun.

Dead Hard, Self Care, Botany Knowledge and We will make it, the speed on healing someone else after the unhook is insane.

Alot of fun to be had with that.

@Carpemortum yeah it's OK, I know what you meant I didn't take it the other way.

Botany has become one of my favourite perks recently so id say yes without doubt if your going for a healing build. Pairing it with selfcare or we'll make it with a medkit is insane. Its helped me so much in chases recently so i can heal quick and carry on the chase
