Disconnects need greater punishment

The past month has been filled with nothing but disconnects from both killer and survivor. They either won't load in due to infinite loading screens/crashes or they will disconnect themselves from the match because they don't like the particular killer they're playing against or being outplayed. As a survivor, this puts a large amount of pressure on the other survivors who remain in the game and potentially damages the score in their emblems. As a killer, I have had the majority of my matches contain disconnects from rage-quitting or loading issues and as a result it becomes impossible to pip. All it takes is one person to disconnect and the rest of them follow. With the amount of hook events required to meet the pip threshold, it gives the killer no opportunity to improve that score in order to pip. The same goes for survivors with the altruism emblem.

Here's an idea: If someone disconnects, the pipping thresholds should decrease to keep the remaining players in the match from deranking. This way it'll give all the remaining players an opportunity to still pip. The person who rage-quits from the match should receive an automatic temporary ban from any ranked gamemodes and a penalty to rank progress or bloodpoint gain (10%-15%).

1st Offense: Warning

2nd Offense: 30 minutes

3rd Offense: 1 hour

4th Offense: 4 hours

5th Offense: 1 week

6th Offense: 1 month

7th Offense: Permanent

This would, in turn, discourage disconnecting from matches. Since this is a team oriented game, disconnects are enormously detrimental to the remaining players. The rank of a player should be determined by how well that person plays and should not be affected by negative events such as disconnects or the lack of skill in the game from others.

These punishments are far too harsh. Right now, BHVR has no way to track DCs from real connection issues, and this would throw tons of innocent people (such as myself) under the punishment bus for DARING to have a spotty connection.

I understand completely. This is just a general idea of how they could go about it if they had a way to tell the difference between bad connections and disconnects. Bad connections and game crashes should never be punished since the player has no control over it. Rage quit disconnections do need to be punished for the reasons I stated above.

Oh, I completely agree with you--people who purposefully DC are ruining the game for everyone else in that round. There needs to be a way to punish them.
