Concerns About Endgame Mechanics
So I have two main questions with how the Endgame will work in the upcoming update.
1. The gate seems to get fully powered once the Killer closes the hatch, no matter how many gens are left. Will this not present the same problem but a different position? By that I mean instead of Survivors camping the hatch, won't they just camp the exit gate and wait for the Killer to power it up for them in the event they find the hatch first?
2. Why does the timer slow down when someone is hooked? Shouldn't it be the same time regardless in order to force the Survivors out? Why are we throwing the Survivors another bone here?

- The end game collapse timer seemed to start as soon as the killer closed the hatch thus powering up the gates. This is gonna be really hard for survivor it would seem
- To give them a chance to help their teammates. It still does the thing "forcing survs out".

1. It isn't gonna be hard on him when he sits at an exit gate waiting for the last mate to die and for the Killer to close the hatch for him, GIVING him the exit gate escape. See what I'm saying?

- I think it will most likely be a situation where if the killer finds the hatch first they will camp it and not close it. This would force the survivor to do a gen to show their location. Then killer can close it and run for the gen.
- 3 minutes really isn't that long, but until the Collapse is tested and we can see how it plays there really isn't much point in arguing the timer and how it slows down, but I would assume this is one area that BHVR would be very open to adjusting if feedback is submitted after the PTB.

Make sure you ask these questions in the Q&A

I imagine some of that will come down to RNG... how far away are those exits to hatch.
Killer could get lucky and it spawns between both gates and doesn't need to go anywhere and wait that survivor out.
1 -
When is it?
0 -
Survivor main, btw
3 -
- Finish gens
- Hop in random locker
- Wait for world to go nuclear before approaching exit gates
You don't even have to expect another survivor to do the job. Just wait until the killer gets sick of searching and opens the gate for you.

Buff for killers, big nerf to solo players.

Killers needed a buff to the hatch stand off as it has always been survivor sided. This is swinging it more to the killers favor, but it is at least more balanced than it was.

It is April 25th, there is a thread open right now where you can post your questions in advance:

The standoff is just gonna happen with the Killer at the hatch, and the Survivor at a gate. The Killer is gonna wait for the Survivor to try and approach, while the Survivor also waits for the gates to be powered.
It's just optimal for the Survivor to camp the gates at this stage. Doing a gen will reveal your location. Safest bet is to just camp and wait for the Killer to get impatient.

I totally agree. But this will make solo even worse than it is now.
0 -
No it doesn't. It makes it way easier. Now you just camp a gate and wait for the Killer to power it up for you by getting impatient and closing the hatch.
Ez win

Still a 50/50 he comes for the right one. 20s opening time = 92m for the killer to walk.
If he guesses right, he will find you before you open the gates. Would be better to wait out the killer at the gate and then open it.
0 -
And then you just hope that's not the first gate they patrol over. Hopefully you're not up against Trapper or Plague since they can pretty much set an alarm on the exit switch.

Not very practical for slow Killers, and even regular speed Killers take more than 20 seconds to get to the other side of a large map in the event the hatch spawns far away.

imagine a nurse (or even billy or spirit) closing the hatch and then just easy blink the exit gates. no chance for a surivor.

ok so around 32 seconds into the match i see with 4 gens left and four survivors alive that the end game is triggered killer opened the door. so now seems new killer meta will be bloodwarden rancor noed and haunted ground. down some one open the gate hang them.

I wonder in a scenario like this where a killer is camping the open hatch, and a survivor is camping an exit gate.... who is to blame for holding the game hostage? Or would neither side be responsible since both sides can theoretically progress the game?
0 -
Oh for sure Billy actually is even more disgusting now.
Just need to put this in PTB before finalizing it honestly.
0 -
I can but I wont. Like i dont camp hatch now. I dont like ppl that takes a game hostage or play toxic.
0 -
if there are only 1 or none gens done when you're the only one left then there is still no hatch spawning or did they change it now with the new collapse?
0 -
Neither will I. But we aren't discussing what WE would do in a match.
It opens up when there is 1 Survivor regardless of how many gens are left.
0 -
Video says the hatch will now always spawn when there's 1 survivor left.
0 -
So people who are not idiots will be punished. That is just stupid.

Slow killers only lose 4m. They still travel 88m during that time.
Which is about 5,5 tiles. Should be enough to cover most maps and one exit gate atleast. There should be one exit gate in the vicinity of 5-6 tiles that you can reach.

*Survivor camps the exit gate
Remember me: I'm going to end this mans whole career

Anyways. What I would do is if the Killer is camping the hatch is complete again and then
Case A: He stays at the hatch when the gen pops, do more gens until the gate opens
Case B: He closes the hatch when the gen pops, go into hiding immediately and then go for the gates ASAP
Case B: He goes to the gen without closing the hatch, hop in the hatch
BTW it basically is:
Step 1: Find the hatch, if the Killer isn't there I leave otherwise:
Step 2: Do a generator
Step 3: If the collapse hasn't started yet check on the hatch location and repeat step 1, otherwise:
Step 4: Go into hiding, make my way to a gate, open it and leave.

Though i like most of the new mechanics, i swear the hatch change is identical to the last one that was disregarded

Yeah, I've always repaired gens when the Killer camps the hatch. On second thought it might not be too bad. Trapper definitely has a nasty endgame now, it may be near impossible to defeat Trapper as the last guy if he has the gates set up early.
1 -
Also you can't guarantee Remember Me will be the same. They've already said many endgame perks are getting reworked, but NOED is one that isn't changing.
1 -
Why would they rework Remember Me? It makes exit gates slower to open, that just means it'll take longer to trigger the collapse during the end game.
0 -
The collapse triggers if the hatch gets closed regardless if the gates are opened. This would make it nearly impossible to open the gates if the Killer closes the hatch and has full Rememeber Me tokens.
They may rework it.

The issue with the last change, which was fixed this time, was that there was no incentive to play the game any further once it was closed. Since there was no incentive and no timer, survivors would just find a corner to hide in and drag the game out for as long as possible to punish the killer for winning. With the timer and the exit gates getting powered, the survivors have to either work to get out, or just accept that they'll die in a few minutes.
0 -
Very true. This is the main point of this whole change, to eliminate the standoff scenario. As long as the Killer as time to make it to one of the gates in 20 seconds, this should be a fine change. Just better hope you don't get the tail side of that coin flip lol
0 -
- Now you have a timelimit to the standoff at least.
- Yeah, three minutes is WAAY more than necessary to open the gates and escape. One minute would be good for high ranks imho. Three is an extremely safe timelimit, considering that it takes two minutes to sacrifice a fresh victim. Extending it even further is unnecessary imho.
0 -
So you're saying they may rework a perk, because that perk MIGHT help secure a 4k if I kill three people and then find and close the hatch first? Unlikely.
0 -
We'll have to wait and see. I'm not holding my breath
0 -
Yeah this happens a lot on common maps like the coldwind and macmillan - especially suffocation pit which pops up all the time. Even happens pretty often on yamaoka.
