So body blocking the basement when someone loots it at the start of the match or after a basement hook for 100% free kills should be allowed cause the RBT exploit already exists?

No. It needs fixed. Just as this whole thing is to stop Survivors abusing stuff at end game, the Basement will just have to bite a minor nerf to stop people from exploiting.

@Saint_Ukraine It's not bannable since it's not taking the game hostage. But of course only very few Pigs do that because it is such a time-waster.

The basement is supposed to be a dangerous place for survivors to go. There shouldn't be an easy way out. If they DO actually do anything to "fix" this issue of yours, I'll be horridly disappointed. Not because I personally want to use this exploit myself, but because I'm tired of seeing killer game play nerfed. I've already stopped playing killer because it's no longer fun to me. This would just be another nerf in the long list of nerfs that killers keep getting, until the game isn't fun for ANY killer.

@VexTheHex If a survivor gets downed in the basement before the timer starts, the other survs don't have to start the timer before they have rescued their teammate.

And if they can't rescue their teammate because Insidious Leatherface is waiting down there, it's just the normal basement play and nothing different from what we already have.

You don't get it @NoShinyPony He wants to make sure he has a completely safe trip to the basement so the "KILLER" cannot "KILL" him down there. He thinks he should always be guaranteed a safe unhook.

The basement is DANGEROUS. It's MEANT TO BE DANGEROUS. The stairs were designed to be narrow SO THE KILLER COULD BLOCK THEM.

    VexTheHex Member Posts: 1,009

Hate to tell you this, but there is a long list of nerfs and buffs to both sides. This whole end game thing hurts honest Survivors as well since any late game saves just got a lot rougher simply to hurt Survivors taunting and tea bagging around the map for giggles.

The basement will still be a one exit place. But it needs to be wider to allow the Survivor to push past simply cause people can and will more often now exploit body blocking the stairs. I get you're upset about BT being strong with this change, but none of it would matter if you weren't camping/in heartbeat range anyways. The perk is designed to hurt campers. It'll still just be doing it's job. Meanwhile an actual exploit that requires almost 0 input from the Killer will be fixed.

This guy really thinks that someone will spend an entire game standing on the basement stairs and end the game with 1500 blood points just to secure one kill. Would you stand on hatch and wait for all 3 of your friends to die on hook if you got absolutely zero points for escaping through the hatch, or would you risk losing something to go get more points? Please use common ######### sense. IF this happens, it will already be during, or close to, the end game. If the killer chooses to do it, then it WASTES their time, and gives them less blood points.

@Saint_Ukraine I had once a Pig following me around in stealth mode, just to prevent that I could remove the RBT at a box. I died of course, but the Pig totally lost the match since it didn't care about what the other survs were doing. Some people have weird priorities.

@Saint_Ukraine not trying to be hostile, just trying to get a point across that this guy can't seem to wrap his head around.

The end game of Survivors is being made more timed/frantic to stop people from taunting the killer. This hurts late game rescues and plays to save each other from normal, honest players.

The basement will just have to bite it the same way. It'll still be dangerous and give a Killer at the top a free hit or multiple if he meets them part way down. It has to be adjusted for the health of the game.

Do you have any concept of exactly how long three minutes is in this game? And when someone is slugged, or on hook, that timer is slowed even more than that. So it doesn't hurt anything about saving people. Since 3 minutes is long enough for someone to die on their first hook if they just hang there, and struggle for the full amount of time, with another entire hook state of time left. And since the time seems to be slowed by 50% when someone is hooked, that means it DOUBLES the time that the collapse takes. Which they did specifically for end game saves.

Seeing as this whole end game change hurts honest Survivors trying to do late game saves to end late game toxicity of bad Survivors makes me think changing the basement to allow people to push through would be of = importance. Both are nerfing something many won't exploit but it shouldn't of been possible to begin with.

The basement will still be dangerous. Don't camp and you won't have to worry about BT. Or go for the unhooker. You'll still get at least 1 hit as they scramble up the stairs.

  • Incirion
    Incirion Member Posts: 612

Don't go for unsafe unhooks in the basement and you won't get body blocked down there. If you wait until the killer leaves you're guaranteed to escape.

Oh look I can do it too!

You're angry and just repeating something I already proven to be false. Nurse. Billy. Spirit. Wraith. Hag. Legion. Insidious. Monitor & Abuse. The Huntress basement aura perk. Easy ways to get back before they can escape the basement or to mask your presence. GG.

  • Saint_Ukraine
    Saint_Ukraine Member Posts: 942

@NoShinyPony Yeah, I don't play like that at all. Typically, I hook once, then I slug them once I find them again. It wastes a lot of time, because then the survivor not only has to get healed by another survivor, thus taking them away from gen repair. Once the survivor is healed, they're immediately going to prioritize removing the rbt before doing any gens. I usually get 4k's out of it. Sadly, people will sometimes d/c when I do this.

Sprint burst. Hide in a locker at the bottom of the stairs and use Head-On. And if they're using insidious, they didn't leave and it's not a safe unhook. If the nurse is still close enough to get there before you make it out of the basement, it's not a safe unhook. Billy will have to chainsaw back, take the stun for ending the chainsaw, then come inside the building where the basement is, to trap you there. Hag CAN teleport to her traps, but that's simple, just don't set them off. Flashlight. Urban Evasion. Legion's frenzy speed is slower than sprint burst, so don't act like he actually has mobility. An invisible wraith camping is not a safe unhook. Just because you don't hear a heart beat doesn't mean it's safe. Use premonition. Then you can be sure the killer is actually gone.

    tl;dr -

  • VexTheHex
    VexTheHex Member Posts: 1,009

Oh yes, allow me to equip all of these perks at once.

Hag- If you don't have a Flashlight or UE, rescuing against the Hag will be slow enough for her to even hobble her way back. Mint Rag removes any counter play. Flashlight would alert her you're there actually. Bam, cover blown.

Billy- Chainsaw in a direction straight into the distance. Wait for rescue or wait for Territorial Imperative to activate. Chainsaw back.

Nurse- Haha, Nurse's mobility basically allows for basement camping far away. Nice try though. You won't know if she double blinked and is sitting there with it charged and waiting.

Insidious, Crouching Pig, invisible Wraith, etc.- Premonition won't help if they go far enough away and hide. Also means you HAVE TO RUN that perk, period.

I think you're the one that needs that advice if you genuinely think body blocking the stairs is good game play. It is abuse-able and the proposed changes will reward it. You're the one upset that you can't counter BT when you're camping someone in the basement.

  • NoShinyPony
    NoShinyPony Member Posts: 4,570

@Saint_Ukraine People dc for all different "reasons". I have survivors dc'ing when I down them for the first time early in the game. So many dc's everywhere since it seems there are currently no punishments.

  • VexTheHex
    VexTheHex Member Posts: 1,009

Bleh, dang approval of edit thing. None of my edits have came back.

Your advice falls flat as all those things can be countered with any thought process on the Killer's part or add-ons like Mint Rag. You're the one upset you can't body block the stairs to get free downs cause you're upset about BT. Take your own advice.

  • Incirion
    Incirion Member Posts: 612

No. I'm literally not upset at all. You're the one who's upset that the basement isn't safe. And it isn't meant to be safe. It has never been meant to be safe. What happens if you go into the basement and the killer is Leatherface? Then you die anyway. If the killer wants to waste their time to kill you in the lamest way possible, then why should that be fixed? If the killer is face camping, do gens and leave. If the killer is staying close to the basement. Do gens and leave. It's so simple a 5 year old could figure it out. Please try to figure it out yourself.

The same logic could apply to none of this end game changes happening. "Don't like Survivors stalling the game" well find them and kill/chase them out. It's the killer's fault for not chasing and hitting them.

It's the same for the basement changes. It's needed to combat toxic behavior.

AKA - You have very clear bias for Killers. You even brought up how Killers have only been nerfed when both sides have ate many nerfs and buffs over the years... and several mistakes in terms of this. Killers have it A LOT easier than they use to. I use to play the Stun Hag as my main, please try again.

  • Incirion
    Incirion Member Posts: 612

If a killer isn't running a tracking perk, then the survivor can urban evade around the map for an hour without getting caught. Does this make the killer bad? No. Because the survivor can literally hear the killer coming and go the other way, or hide in a locker. Survivors stall the game for absolutely no reason other than to BM the killer. That's what this collapse is for. Securing a kill is NOT toxic behavior. Stop thinking survivors deserve an escape, please.

  • VexTheHex
    VexTheHex Member Posts: 1,009

Stop thinking a Killer shouldn't need to work for a kill. "If the Killer isn't running a tracking perk" after you gave me a list of perks and items one would need to counter the different basement camping strategy of different killers. But a Killer using a detection perk is too much?

A Hag can run to the opposite side of the map, have a trap at the top of the stairs, wait for the unhook, and apply her Mint Rag to teleport there. You want to give me a circumstance where I Survivor can hide all game, I can do it with Killers body blocking the stairs.

The only reason for someone to be mad about the basement stairs being widened is if they camp and use the stairs to body block. So you use it and know it works now. Now imagine there is a timer that will insta kill any Survivors trapped down there? Dumb and broken.

This EXACT SAME THING could happen before, but the survivors would have to disconnect to get out of the game instead. Please tell me why it's only an issue now that they'll die?

Devs already said they are changing the Pig and various other end game perks to account for the collapse. Most likely that means is when the Collapse starts the reverse beartraps will not kill you if you use the exit gates. Evidence? Look at Legion.

I watch the video last night I'm excited for it.

On the bright side maybe this will end the ten thousand topics about hatch stand offs

Most likely, the Collapse timer will just run slower when someone has a trap on their head.

  • Dwight_Confusion
    Dwight_Confusion Member Posts: 1,650

The collapse doesn't change the game that much people. It only changes the survivor getting a free escape that they don't deserve...

and it forces people out a bit sooner. The end game is a positive change I think. Just as long as killers don't get the shaft with nerfs to perks and powers... I'm excited for it.

Except they ARE nerfing perks and powers. They've already said they're going to be "changing" Pig's RBTs. And we all saw how the "change" to Legion worked out. They're also changing Remember Me. Which is stupid because that slows the start of the collapse.

  • Saint_Ukraine
    Saint_Ukraine Member Posts: 942

@Lemming Well, I don't know about that. There's no way they'd just give a survivor the escape with a trap on their head.

@Incirion Well, that's a bit different. You need to have either a key or be the last one to do that.
