Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

To what extent can we mod DBD?

Is just the perk icons or can be anything else like cosmetics? Without the fear of the ban hammer

None whatsoever. If an EAC update decides to scan for changes to perk icons, you'll be banned. The fear of the ban hammer is always there.

I'd never thought of changing perk icons, sounds fun but I wouldn't want to get in trouble for it?

Aren't they thinking about opening up a Steam Workshop for cosmetics? Because that would be all kinds of awesome.

Its not an urban legend, its a disclaimer they have pointed out several times. You can mod, but at your own risk. If EAC catches you and you get banned for it, they wont assist you with that, despite of how harmless the mod was. That doesnt mean you cant mod at all though, as EAC is set not to check certain directories or files. That is why it is highly unlikely to get banned for modding character portraits or perk icons. However, anything more game changing than that, such as 3D models, will probably get you banned.

"Probably" if "EAC catches you"... All these sounds tremendously doubtful

Anti cheating Software isn't deciding randomly wether checking the files or not, is always doing the same, so still an urban legend til any dbd crew or noob ass banned confirms so lol
