my friend thinks you can be hooked more than 3 times and survive if you get instantly unhooked please reply with a yes this is possible or no its not

Hey, it's me, the one he's talking about. He won't take me seriously or anything, I have no reason to lie about this lol. There must be a bug, I was hooked 6 or 7 times, and they would just instantly take me off the hook while we were farming during Double XP weekend. The bar never regressed during the time, only really slowly over time, as it would when you're normally on the hook. Any ideas?
