MoM is not a worthy slot perk

I'm a rank 2 surv. at the moment and i can tell you it only helps me a bit 1 every about 6 or 7 matches. I don't really get the hype about it. If the killer is a M2 specialist like Billy or Huntress, it doesn't activate; and even if the killer is a M1 one, some matches you get camped/tunneled or just leave by the gates... tbh i prefer a perk which works almost all matches than one which helps me barely from time to time. I get it's OP if it's used by good swf who knows how to synergize their perks, but that's it.

You can get it to activate on most killers, even plague or legion if you have decisive strike.

If i give free hits to the killer to force the activation, then i have to waste time healing myself, which counteracts the utility of MoM, which is make a chase longer. If i waste the time that i get from make a chase longer, healing, what's the point?

    @Trotfoxx

So your reasoning on why the perk is not useful is because you have to waste something like 32 seconds of healing if you find a teammate, you gain way more than that in a chase if you know what you're doing...

You gain if you heal yourself for in-game reasons. Like being healed after being hooked or after losing, while injured, the killer in-chase (and then healing). But giving away a free hit just to force it to work is a waste of time imo.

@PolarBear I've had a couple of matches as Legion where the MoM user got it off, so I left them. I both hit them and left them with the intent to return if I couldn't find someone if they chose to heal. One chose to heal, so I used FF to get a quick hit off to go find the people hiding. One chose not to heal. I downed them quite easily when I was patrolling the generators later on.

    So uhm... don't take it?

I mean I could open a thread about how useless Monstrous shrine and 3 dozen other perks are...

    But MoM?

@Trotfoxx what perks would use use in place of MoM just out of curiosity?

A lot of matches I've found myself thinking MoM was a wasted perk slot as well is all.

@SlinkyJinky Well, i'm thinking of Borrowed Time / Decisive Stike / Unbreakable, but i'm still thinking about which perk is more worthy as most of the time it goes unused. Probably Borrowed is the most worthy, specially since the last buff.

Well i'm glad you and some others don't run it.

Meanwhile, i'm maining my pure M1 Killer and encounter this Perk 1-2 times per match.

Not trying to complain, not trying to convince anyone my point, just stating the trend in my trials...

@I cant quote your name for some reason ^

A bit like the trend of every Killer running BBQCheese / Ruin / Nurses Calling (and whatever the hell else they want for the 4th slot because at that point it doesn't matter as the three previous perks are just that powerful) on Billy / Nurse?

People use what works on both sides. For Survivor it's DH / MoM / Borrowed Time / DS (or swap out DS for Self Care)

Agree, I would better use adrenaline or decisive strike instead of this perk

    Perks I'd use before MoM:

    • Spine Chill or Premonition
    • Alert or at a pinch instead, Dark Sense
    • Urban Evasion
    • Dance With Me + Quick 'n Quiet + Lithe (swapping out the last one for Balanced Landing maybe)
    • DH + Borrowed Time + Adrenalin (at that point do you really need another hit mod? best spent on aura reading at that stage)

And then once you've activated MoM, Self Care + Botany Knowledge becomes completely useless, so that's 3 perk slots its eaten up for what? ONE EXTRA HIT! MoM really is a needy perk. Which is why I'd only take it if I had no other viable options.

@SlinkyJinky Yes i agree, both sides have boring metas.

I want to see many Perks buffed.

This is the way i see it...

The positive thing about buffing is that it'll quickly be nerfed if it's too strong.

Anything that's weak will be weak for a long time because it's not causing imbalance.

Yes, you could say it's unbalanced that something's too weak to use, and i'd agree with you.

But what they see is that you don't use it, and thus it's more balanced.

If you have something OP, of course people will use it.

Then they'll see that it's OP and address it.

    Really?

And who are these most Killers you speak of?

BBQ ain't that great and has counterplay for days. Ruin is almost necessary since devs refuse to address overall game speed, but it isn't like Ruin helps that much unless you babysit the thing cause as with all hex perks the spawns are trash. Nurse's Calling is a great perk. Survivors become obsessed with healing even after they find out someone is using Nurse's.

Agreed. I tried it a bunch when it first came out. Rarely did I get any genuinely good use out of it. I've only had it successfully used against me as a killer once. And by that I mean it actually allowed the survivor to escape. Most times they just go down when I hit them again 10 seconds later lol.

I'd honestly love to face survivors using Self Care, Botany Knowledge, Adrenaline and No Mither.

    But that's just me.

It's not as useful at those ranks because people are using killers that don't have to deal with it, and they don't want to deal with it because MoM is so strong. All of the reasons you've listed about its lack of effectiveness are killers compensating for its effectiveness.

@ClogWench For everyone who says "MoM has no counter" (seriously that line right there is starting to feel like a bad meme at this stage) this line right here is the answer to that every time:

"MoM's Weakness is that it requires you to take a hit and escape to heal"

I'll say it again. To counter MoM DON'T LET THEM ESCAPE TO HEAL. Denying them pip progression is how you counter MoM.

It's the same way Survivors counter [ Play With Your Food ]

    • Don't let them hit you the first time and you deny them their first speed increase pip to 3%
    • Don't let them hit you the second time and you deny them their first speed increase pip to 4%
    • Don't let them hit you the third time and you deny them their first speed increase pip at 5%

How to counter [ Mettle Of Man ]

    • Don't let them escape and heal after you hit them the first time
    • Don't let them escape and heal after you've hit them the second time

The rest is just general Killer house-keeping:

    • Once downed don't let Survivors body block denying your hook (and hook them)
    • - If too far away from the hook to make it drop them and patrol the area making it un-safe to attempt any mend rescue attempts
    • Once hooked don't let Survivors rescue their hooked ally denying any further MoM pip progression (once sacrificed you have fully denied MoM entirely)

There are several nuances for MoM's counter, some of which I may have missed? (such as the very situational partial counter of Franklin's Demise if their carrying a med kit and not self care they're boned unless they can find another Survivor or med kit in game) but the first two above points are really the main thing to focus on, the rest is again just general Killer house keeping.
