What people don't understand about punishments for disconnecting

Punishing people for disconnecting isn't going to magically fix the problem we are facing. I see too many people on here who think that adding punishments for disconnecting will suddenly improve the quality of their games. This is not going to happen anywhere near as often as you think. People aren't going to magically turn into quality teammates if punishments are added and they can't disconnect as often. They will just suicide on first hook or play like ######### towards their teammates (sandbagging, popping gens over and over, etc) If someone doesn't want to play a game out, they aren't going to start playing it out just because you have a punishment for disconnecting. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be a punishment for it, i'm just saying that it's not going to be this grand fix for quality games. At the very least the Devs would need to remove suiciding from hook or this change is going to be mostly irrelevant. They would also need to track things like consistent gen popping while working on a gen with someone else. Games that have punisments for disconnecting also tend to have a relatively high number of games where someone gives up partway through the game and makes it their goal to ruin the experience for other players. That, or they just give up and don't help anyone and just wait for the game to end. If people don't want to play a game out, they aren't going to.
