Some Quick Generator Math Pt.2
Making this post to spread the word some more. It's very important to know how to be as efficient as possible! It's also important to know how these calculations work.
One Survivor doing a generator with a max speed toolbox, resilience, and spinechill:
- A generator requires 80 charges to complete. (/ 80)
- A Survivor contributes 1 charge per second by default. (+1.0)
- An engineer's toolbox contributes an addition 0.25 charges, clean rag adds 0.1, and socket swivels adds 0.15 making for an additional 0.5. (+0.5)
- Resilience adds 0.09 charges per second while injured. (+0.09)
- If the killer is looking at you while you have Spine Chill, you gain an extra 0.06 charges. (+0.06)
Now, to set up the equation. Increments are added in one go.
80 / (1.0 + 0.5 + 0.09 + 0.06) = 48.48
The Generator would take ~48.48 seconds.
What if, instead of the two toolbox add-ons, you wanted to use Brand New Part? Well, the new Brand New Part completes 15% of the generator over 5 seconds, with 2 skillchecks that reward 5% more each.
This makes for 25% of the generator, so 20 charges, (remember a generator takes 80 charges by default) over only 5 seconds. This saves you 15 seconds off the generator, effectively making it take 65 seconds to complete.
The equation:
65 / (1.0 + 0.25 + 0.09 + 0.06) = 48.5
It's 0.02 seconds longer to use BNP. So, basically, just about the same as using Swivel Sockets and Clean Rag.
Now, that's just one survivor. What if we throw in the other three? and Prove Thyself?
- Again, the generator is 80 charges (/ 80)
- Each additional survivor on the gen adds a 0.1 charge debuff. Four total survivors on the gen results in a 0.3 charge debuff. (1.0-0.3)
- Prove Thyself adds a flat 0.1 charge buff to each survivor on the gen. (+0.1)
- Engineer's Toolbox with SS and CR adds 0.5. (+0.5)
- Resilience is 0.09. (+0.09)
- Spine Chill is 0.06. (+0.06)
The Equation. Debuffs are added on at the end, multiplicatively.
(1.0 + 0.1 + 0.5 + 0.09 + 0.06) * (1.0 - 0.3) = 1.225
That's only for one survivor. However, the -0.3 debuff means there's 4 survivors on the gen.
4 * 1.225 = 4.9
80 / 4.9 = 16.33
The fastest you can complete a generator is ~16.33 seconds. This is a survivor pipe dream, but still a possibility.
This post is a sequel to an old post of mine, that was actually very wrong.

It's fine if not, but can you show me the maximum speed possible with Left Behind? 😊
0 -
- Gen requires 80 charges (/ 80)
- Survivor contributes 1 charge (+1)
- Engineer's Toolbox w/ CR and SS adds 0.5 charges (+0.5)
- Resilience adds 0.09 (+0.09)
- Spine Chill adds 0.06 (+0.06)
- Left Behind with 5 gens left adds 3.75 charges (+3.75)
The equation:
80 / (1 + 0.5 + 0.09 + 0.06 + 3.75) = 14.81
A gen could be done in ~14.81 seconds with Left Behind (no gens done).

AntiJelly, friend, what would it be with Dying Light.
0 -
Well, for starters, a normal gen with Dying Light:
- Gen is 80 seconds (/ 80)
- Survivor contributes 1c/s (+1.0)
- Dying light reduces by 0.25 (1.0-0.25)
The equation:
80 / (1.0) * (1.0 - 0.25) = 106.67
Remember, debuffs are added multiplicatively, so that negative charge contributions aren't possible. Because there aren't any repair buffs, the survivor is just contributing a flat 0.75. Adding in the toolbox, resilience, and spine chill changes that a bit.
- Gen is 80 seconds (/ 80)
- Survivor contributes 1c/s (+1.0)
- Engineer's Toolbox w/ SS and CR adds 0.5c/s (+0.5)
- Resilience adds 0.09c/s (+0.09)
- Spine Chill adds 0.06c/s (+0.06)
- Dying light reduces by 0.25 (1.0-0.25)
The equation:
80 / (1.0 + 0.5 + 0.09 + 0.06) * (1.0 - 0.25) = 64.65
While using the build for a fastest gen, while dying light is active, the gen would take ~64.65 seconds. That's 16 seconds longer than without dying light applied.

On the contrary, the longest a gen could take is with Dying Light, Thanataphobia, and Dream World with add-ons.
- A gen requires 80 charges (/ 80)
- Dying light reduces by 0.25c/s (1.0-0.25)
- Thanataphobia tier III with all injured reduces by 0.16c/s (1.0-0.16)
- Dream World reduces by 0.5c/s (1.0-0.5)
- Add-ons directly modify the Dream World reduction. "Jump Rope" reduces by 20%, meaning 20% of 50%, so the Dream World reduction actually turns to a 0.6c/s reduction.
- The Add-on "Swing Chains" adds a flat -25% reduction to the Dream World reduction. This makes it a 0.85c/s reduction.
The equation:
80 / ((1.0) * (1.0 - 0.25) * (1.0 - 0.16) * (1.0 - 0.85)) = 846.56
This makes a gen take ~846.56 seconds. 14 minutes.

DAMN imagine that with Hex: Ruin, Pop Goes the Weasel and other gen stopping perks, never get a gen done ever.

Do those Add-ons really stack in that way?

Alrighty.
