Do survivors want help?
Sometimes I find myself near a survivor being chased by the killer. At times they are even in the injured state. Do those survivors need me to run interception so they can heal or should I just stay out of it? I never know if the survivor is going for chase points so I dont want to interfere but at the same time I dont mind letting the killer chase me for a bit so the other person can take a breath. What is the proper protocol in these instances?

Honestly, it's go with your gut instinct, for me, I would body block if need be, to give them a chance, allow them some freedom, even if it's chase points. They shouldn't be greedy either. Don't try and save them if the killer has STBFL, you'll only feed his stacks and get down only faster. Unless you're the obsession.

Always go for the save if you are good with it.
Even if the Survivor is going for chase points, he can always get chased again later.
Most survivors need help. I know I do.
If you are good in chases you should always help out. The more of your team that can survive, the better. But frankly, only go for saves if you feel you are better than the survivor being chased at chases. If he is doing a great job and you honestly think you can't do better, let him do it and make yourself useful doing gens or breaking totems or something.
The exception is if you know he is dead on hook or has been injured and has used his exhaustion perk, in that case it's better to let him take a breather and heal up so he can get chased again later.

Killer is likely to ignore you anyway unless you block him and take a hit. I've had killers walk right around me, like I was just a tree in the way, in order to keep going after someone that just got off the hook.
Generally it is not worth it to take a hit and you may inadvertently sandbag the other survivor if you mess up. Usually best to get clear of the area and let the survivor have the space to do his thing.

Depends on the situation, I prefer space in my chases personally, other survivors near me stresses me out and makes me lose focus because I have to make sure we're not sandbagging/blocking each other by accident. If it looks like they need the help do it (especially if injured and actively trying to heal/hide, mess the tracks and run interference if you're in a good gen state (no point throwing yourself at the killer if you've got no gens up), or if it's just a drive by intercept a hit and run off, if they're an adept looper or have been in the chase for a while/first hook etc do gens, they'll probably appreciate it more.
It's a difficult question because it depends on the scenario/point in the match and how adept the survivor is.

As others have said, go with your gut. If the killer tries to ignore you, body block them. Force them to deal with you.
