My thoughts on aura perks

With some upcoming changes to existing perks I want to give my thought on these and other aura perks. I think the game is less fun now that more and more perks give absolute sight of the survivor or killer.

Lets start with some not changed perks.

Nurses Calling
My problem with this perk is that as a survivor you are beeing chased by a killer thats faster than you and apart from pallets is just a unstoppable force. If you finally manage to get away by using tactics in your favour Nurses Calling still provides free sight for the killer eventhough the killer was outsmarted. It punishes survivors that got away.

BBQ and Chilli
With this the problem lies that it isnt you who got caught but your teammates. The killer already found a survivor and made that survivor not able to do objectives and still gets additional rewards. The killer knows when someone is close or not giving control on what to do. WGLF is a farm only perk for survivors that even causes bad teamplay but BBQ and Chilli besides the additional exp gives an extra effect. I think I would have removed the aura effect and simply made the experience effect 5/10/15% every time you hook someone. This promotes leaving the hook because you want to hook each person 3 times not once.

Bond and Empathy
Eventhough you as a survivor play as a team I still think it should be just as difficult for you to know where the killer is as it should be to know where your teammates are. Empathy gives you free sight on a survivor thats beeing chased so basicly its giving free sight on where the killer is aswell. You know exactly when to keep repairing.

This perk will ruin this game for me personally. As a survivor you need to hide from the killer and at the same time do objectives to find freedom. With the new Bitter Murmur hiding isnt good enough anymore because the killer will receive true sight of you after you complete the only objective towards freedom. I think the 16m is simply overkill and only punishes those who happen to walk by. Killers already get a notification on your location when you complete the generator in the first place.

Another perk that will ruin this game for me is Dark Sense. Dark Sense will be a worse Bitter Murmur for 2 reasons. 1. As a survivor you should be scared off the killer and look around you the whole time not feel free and safe knowing where the killer is. 2. Its a complete dead perk when the killer is running Bitter Murmur because you cant outhide/juke someone who also sees you.

This game is supposed to scary but with all this truesight its not. Aura reading rewards bad play or in some cases double rewards normal play. This game shouldnt have added Auras imo.

A simple buff to killers could have been to remove the hearthbeat. Theres no reason why in a 1v4 game you should be given a free sound notification the killer is nearby. You should be scared of it at all times. I would even remove the lullabies from Freddy and the Huntress.

I´ll never understand why survivors complain about BBQ.
A perk made to reduce camping. It really seems like survivors enjoy being camped.
Sorry, i can´t take anyone serious who complains about BBQ.

It shouldnt be a perks job to give truesight and make you not camp. If you let BBQ and Chilli be the only reason to not camp you just suck as a killer.

Someone complaining about BBQ always blows my mind. Survivors cry about camping but the only perk rewarding killers to move away from the hook is "OP" and needs a nerf.

BBQ is only OP on Nurse. If it's Hillbillym it's almost OP because Billy is loopable. But usually I use it for the points, since most of survivours are hiding from BBQ. Both Dark Sense and Bitter Murmur are really strong and maybe OP, but we'll see it on PTB. Nurse's Calling ONLY punishes people who did not get away, since healing near the killer even without Nurse's isn't a good idea. It's not a problem for you to get some more distance after escaping from the chase.

Ðon't care too much about the aura reading. When I first was up against bbq, yeah I thought it was terrible, but as always we adapt and make new gameplay. You know the killer see you for a few seconds, then just pretend to be on your way somewhere and then change direction. I only use bbq when I want to farm some points, but I play Freddie atm so if I were to use it to know where they are, they are long gone when I get across the map.

Empathy is not wrong, because it gives an advantage, plus is helpful when needed. Not everyone runs self care. Survivors have their good stuff, killers have theirs, its all about how you use it.

And look at it from the bright side, with the new changes coming to some perks, maybe some will take other perks off their build that you hate. Cant have it all now can we?

Maybe would be a valid argument if it wasnt for you using it against someone who doesnt use DS ;)

I am not a fan of aura reading perks. Job of the killer is to track survivors, killers already have enough abilities to do so even without any perks. I am fine with auditory ques also Whispers. This new emphasis on aura reading makes little to no sense to me.

You do realize that DS will be nerfed into the ground soon? So your reasoning is not valid anymore, everyone knows DS had to go at one point,

Until the changes are live, my argument still stands.

Being able to reveal the killer is a mistake in the first place.
It kills the scare factor that is already nearly non-existent and nearly only provided by the fact that survivors aren't fully aware of where the killer is.
Whatever tho, it will be one more mistake on top of a pile of #########.

Good! At least 1 decent person.
But BBQ isn´t really a problem. There are many ways to avoid it.
It was introduced, because survivors complained about campers.
Now those very same survivors complain about BBQ.
It´s like they forgot how it was before BBQ.

I don't think so. Dark Sense will be an useful perk after the changes, but I doubt, that experienced survivors will use it that often, because there are better perks and part of beeing an experienced survivor means to develop a certain killer awareness. Even if you run solo. If you are experienced you have already kinda an idea where the killer is. With these Changes Dark Sense will probably a good beginner perk, that helps you to develop that sense over time and which people will replace with something better as soon they realize they don't need it.

And about the scare/horror factor: It's impossible for an repetitive multiplayer horror game rely to remain on it. And I think DbD is a good example for that. At the beginning people might be scared or have that horror feel, but that wears off. And I think many are continuing playing this game, because there is still this kinda asymmetrical 1vs4 arena gameplay left. Just look at Deathgarden, that goes even farther in that direction.
Besides Freddy and EWI Myers will be most likely stay immune against Aura-reading perks and Dark Sense has it's limits only triggers when a gen gets finished.

    I'm with you!
For me it just feels like people are trying to spread salt just bcs they can.
    BBQ shouldn't be nerfed!
Bitter murmur might get tweaked but there's no reason to spread salt about it.
    And as you say:

A perk made to reduce camping. It really seems like survivors enjoy being camped.

I suppose we should introduce a perk that gives you more bloodpoints for standing still near a hooked survivor. :)

How to evade aura reading of...
    BBQ:
    1) Be near the hook
    2) Hide behind a generator
    3) Fake a direction
    Nurse's Calling:
Don't heal in the killer's TR

    Voilà

The noise bubble is going to hurt Bitter Murmur. Survivors do not see this except for hooks, so Dark Sense is actually going to be much more powerful in this regard. They can just hide behind their own bubble and wait for Bitter Murmur to drop before moving.

The change in colors helped to guard against BBQ. I find myself getting outted a lot less now. The reverse of that is that I'll see more Killers hanging around the hook because they don't know if people are behind gens or if they are near the hook.

The DS and Self Care nerfs aren't scheduled for the PTB. They want discussion and input on them. I'm assuming that means they won't make it to the Mid-Chapter Balance Patch either. The only thing major going in from what I can see is the Exhaustion change and the BNP change. That plus all the neat little tweaks to other Perks. Hopefully this stirs up the meta a bit. I don't use SB at all, preferring Balanced Landing or Lithe, so the Exhaustion adjustment doesn't do a whole lot to me. I can count on 1 BL or 1 Lithe per chase atm anyways.

I stopped using SB a long time ago because it made me play way to passive not wanting to trigger the cooldown.

Nurses calling doesn't punish people for getting away, it punishes people who heal immediately after losing the killer or not being cautious enough in the TR.

That's why I don't ever use it, using it without being Billy and Nurse is pointless, when you get there, you chase that survivor and he will loop you for x minutes, the other guy gets off the hook and 1-2 gens done, rinse and repeat u will end up with no kills. you are better off just camping at high ranks

When they nerf the exhaustion perks I will only use SB of them.. I rather have a headstart from the killer than a one time sprint during a chase, besides BL ofc because the stun reduction is really useful in a chase, so I would run SB for the headstart with BL for the stun reduction
