The Amanda's Letter add-on for The Pig has been Kill Switched due to an issue with incorrect RBT count.

You should not derank or reset past rank 10
Makes no sense, stop resetting people all the way back because it's inherently flawed you're intentionally pairing experienced players with essentially new people who don't know how to play the game or are extremely terrible. Especially for survivors, your teammates in this game mean a huge difference and then a cycle of a loss streak happens because you're constantly paired with people who don't know what they're doing because ultimately you can't do everything in this game by yourself. Come up with something else please, it's tedious and a horrible experience for well versed players. If you make it past rank 10 that should be the lowest you go back to.

But what if, during perhaps some kind of event or double BP event that there are a lot of farming games, or games where one side is letting the other people do the event objective, this would artificially boost there rank past what they should be at.
I remember during the hallowed blight event my killer rank shot up to the purple ranks when I had no business being out of the green ranks.
Rank system and MM needs a rework yes, but I don't think potentially punishing someone who is boosted is the way to go about it.

I'm sorry I'm not trying to hear it, if you got up the ranks that way so be it. But it's not punishing anyone it's making that people have a firm grasp of how to play and if you made it that far up you'll learn soon enough. This is a big issue. The issue if reset and being put with people less experienced is a big deal and to constantly lose cause of it due to the reset is an even bigger one because you can go all the way back to 15. You should not be able to derank past rank 10 if you make it past that.

Seriously, I'm not understanding why people aren't commenting on this. It's an issue that needs to be addressed

being high on rank serves nothing, u get no rewards, u get literally nothing!!!!
and u get punished with high queue times, i derank myself back to 15 all the time
i will be willing to stay on high rank when devs introduce Ranking rewards
even mobile DBD identity v had ranking rewards since day 1... and u can change chase music etc... too

It's a big shame, they need to do something about all this. About the causes of Deranking, I can think of a million things they could do so why can't a whole team of people who've worked on this for 3 years? It's absurd.
There's no incentive, no recognition. This games ranking system is so backwards they need something better. Why not give recognition for the top percentage of the playerbase that achieves rank 1 in the main menu? Why not offer small cosmetics(cause you release them so frequently now, they may as well do some once a month)
Reset needs to change, rank system needs to change. They need to stop trying to make everyone "feel" like a winner by giving consolation points and double down on these issues.

Are you meaning intentionally deranking or during rank reset?
0 -
Both, because both options pair inexperienced with MLG pros. I understand reset affects everyone, but it still does nothing because you can get rank 15's or 16's as a Rank 12 in your match. They need to get it together, it's a souring bitter taste in my mouth for this game.

end of seasons derank is a dirty practice to keep you grinding to reach again a higher rank instead of quitting the game
intentional derank is a dirty practice we are forced since the matchmaking systems take a century to start a match at higher ranks

Maybe implement a cut off every 5 levels. You only go back further during rank reset if you at one of those 5 level intervals.

That's a great idea
Frankly they're both not wanted

Which is another reason this rank system needs to be abolished

I think rank could make use of a slow rank drain over time.
Lose a pip every 24 hours.
The timer is set to 0 hours if you complete a trial, win or lose.
No more rank reset to be bunched together with noobs & face overly skilled opponents, but also no one can sit at the top forever by just getting there and then doing nothing.

I've said long ago intentional de-ranking is bad for the game. It is the functional equivalent of SMURFING and everybody hates smurfing, and knows that it is bad for any multiplayer ranked game.
Survivors will not benefit from de-ranking because as Gardenia said you will be paired with potato survivors, and you need teammates in this game, period.
Killers can really benefit from de-ranking, because you only need to rely on yourself, so you can have a field day killing teams with potato survivors in them. But if you are a killer who de-ranks to smurf you are the scum of the earth and you should be ashamed of yourself. You are worse trash than the "SWF bullies" you complain about at high ranks.

The problem is very simple.
over half the people between rank 10 and rank 20, are better than half the people between rank 10 and 1.
There are 4 basic s types that play this game.
- Experienced players who season after season reach the purple and red ranks at relatively the same time and stay there for the remainder of the season. (providing the occasional drunken night of fun and little memory of how you are in the green ranks again) These players have a firm knowledge of the game +serious play time and a small percentage of this group are the elite. i.e excellent loopers, understand how to counter most perks on both killer and survivor side etc.)
- Novice players who, mostly through play time, reach the upper green ranks 10/11) and stay there for nearly the entire season. They may reach purple near the end. They are either bad but play ALOT or decent but don't put the time in to grind up in the ranks
- Experienced players who do not want the challenge/salt/drama/tryhardiness of facing other experienced players at lower ranks, and stay in the 10+ ranks on purpose. For a survivor capable of reaching red ranks, playing at these ranks is just simply more fun in A LOT of ways to them. They win more. They have more freedom to play in a style that makes the game more fun. They can troll novice players with much less risk of fail etc. Key thing though is queues are just not an issue for many though I'm sure.
- Novice players who literally just installed the game a few days ago and have close to single digit's of hours in it. New players will reach rank 15 and be absolutely lacking in any real knowledge of the game's mechanics.
Games that make up group 1 and 2 are likely going to be normal games. Typically, all players probably have a decent score regardless of the outcome.
Now, combine any of the other groups and look what happens:
Group 2 and 3 = possible de-pipping match for group 3 and then group 2 gets the shaft on unhooks, heals etc etc. Group 3 is a swf, 3 man, and the other guy is from group 2. Good SWF? Probably gonna farm the Novice and likely will have 0 consideration for him regarding his lack of experience. = ######### time for the group 2 guy.
Honestly I was gonna list other examples for the other groups, but if you've kept reading this far, then I'm sure you can come up with all the big problems that would happen when the other group combos play together.
Throw the current ranking system out.
Rank based on the stats of the player like good games do. Add a new database server or 10, make sure you set them up proper so you don't make the game even slower than it was/is (not sure I stopped player months ago). If a survivor has 500 escapes under their belt, probably don't put them in a match with a surivor who has 5. and so on and so....

Couldn't have said it better myself
Agreed, this rank system has to go, thanks for breaking it all down

Being a red rank returner nearly every season, let me tell you
My games are still the same in Green rank as they are in Red Ranks.
The Ranking system is generally broken for all players across the board and being in a different coloured rank hasn't seem to make much of a difference in terms of skill. I've seen Killers and Survivors with 2K hours in Green Ranks, along with Killers and Survivors with about 300 in Red.

It’s really not fair that the ranking system is so easy to still move up. My last post i said I had 15 hours in 2 weeks, but it’s actually almost 20.
I play this game casually now, after taking almost 6 months off. I don’t want to play super sweaty competitive games with survivors and killers all using the exact same perks every single match.
It is boring and unfun for me. I started at Rank 18 when I came back two weeks ago. That was obviously unfair, because I was playing with literally new people. I quickly moved up though, and with casually playing almost Rank 4.
Now I am waiting for the reset I think to play again. I will wait for all the professional DBD players to sweat their way to rank 5-1, then I’ll try to log back in.

Just like many fighting games nowdays have character specific rankings, there need to be killer specific rankings in DBD. A P3 Billy with a full meta build of lvl 3 perks does not belong in yellow ranks, ever. And just because you can reach red ranks with your favorite killer does not mean you are automaticaly god like with all of them, especially the ones you only play occasionaly that don't have many good perks unlocked.
