Hatch update is a joke

The fact that killers can close the hatch is ridiculous. It already takes forever for it to open once the second to last survivor is sacrificed and the possibly of being grabbed out of jumping through but now it can be closed? If it wasn’t common sense before, this was an unnecessary add.

the problem comes in when the killer knows where the hatch is and can stroll their way over to close it with time to spare

If you’re a killer and can’t get the kill, that’s on you. I’ve been rank 1 with both killer and survivor and again its an unnecessary add

Knowing that the killer knows where the hatch is is very circumstancial. 9 times out of 10 you don’t know and you’re waiting for it to open and they come over to close it and then you’re screwed, especially with the killers with a little to no presence ability

i mean sure, but waiting at a door while the killer looks for the hatch is a good strategy even if you don't know whether the killer is aware of the hatch's location

I gotta agree with @miaasma . If this is becoming an issue, you should start going for an exit gate first. I was able to escape because I assumed the Killer was able to find the hatch first anyway, so I just made a safe play and camped the gate.

I got it about 75% open when the Killer came by. I Bursted away, LoS juked him, and watched as he chose to go to the other gate. So I simply went back, finished the 25%, and was able to get out.

Luckily, he didn't have NOED or some oneshot ability. I didn't expect to get out.

It actually took him a moment to find the hatch, so I could've gotten out if I had found it. But I didn't. If you notice the Killer approaching the hatch when the last guy is dying, you should probably stealth your way out of there and get to an exit gate asap.

Urban Evasion is great for this.

Oh snap, you're right they did. That one actually completely bypassed me.

Nvm then. It's definitely 100% fair then. I mean it.

If that’s the case then remove the hatch all together. Knowing if the killer knows where the hatch is is very circumstancial. To be the last survivor trying to escape the hatch has ( for the most part) always been the main option. If the “smart play” is an exit gate with the killer being able to close it, then theres no point in having it in the game anymore

Aw, the Survivor can't get their guaranteed free escape anymore. Either go to a gate or hope you find it first. If you can't do any of that, then just accept your death.

  • weirdkid5
    weirdkid5 Member Posts: 2,144

Bruh you can still get out.

    It just isn't free anymore.

Why is this bad. You don't even have to do 2 gens now to make the hatch spawn. Like wut

no, because if the hatch was removed then the killer would just patrol the gates from the get-go. you know the killer is looking for the hatch because until he closes it the gates aren't powered and it's your only escape. he closes it, you're already at a door, on most maps you're probably already out because opening doors doesn't take long

it gets dicier on smaller maps like coal tower but for the most part these scenarios are pretty serviceable to the survivor

when this change was first released my kneejerk response was similar to yours but as you get used to it you'll see that the survivor absolutely has a shot at escaping if they're the last one alive, which is the whole point. it shouldn't be a free escape, but it should be possible, and i think they've struck that balance pretty well

    • 3 survivors die
    • they didnt made 5 gens
    • the last survivor doesnt found the hatch first

    You had enough chances.

    Now its Game over.

You cant get grabbed from hatch anymore, are you new?

I am completely fine with that change. Its not a big deal, just die or survive due the exit gate or the hatch. You can play wake up+resilience to open the exit gate much faster.

If you have come to the point where all your friends are dead and you could not find the hatch or open a gate in time, you must accept defeat and be done with it. Entitled survivors....

gid gud you have alot of second chance perks that can make the chase long while the others gen rush the hell out of that killer meanwhile you complain you have also some good perks to rush it even more prove thyself its an example

Would you... you know... prefer it if they removed the hatch?

I actually played against a ghostface that had an ebony mori and extremely rare add ons, using his 3 perks. (trying the ghostface achievement I assume) After killing all other survivors I ran to the far exit and opened the gate just before he got to me. He peaked the corner and exposed me and man was that great! Actually had my heart rate going how close it was. I think he went and closed the hatch which was the only reason I survived so I don't mind that they can close the hatch because it makes for an intense ending. I just hate when they troll and act like they are giving you the hatch but close it just before you get there and hook you. Toxic people suck whether survivor or killer

@TheDiz I do that with the hatch every time I get. Close it or do a mori right next to it. It is soooo funny. You can actually feel the salt pouring from them. I have to thank the ridiculous killers that have teached survivors to expect to be given the hatch, I would not be able to stomp on their hope otherwise.

You get a lot of chances to escape, if you fail all of them that's on you. Killer shouldn't be faced with a near impossible kill just because the survivors played terribly.

Any thing is better then the old hatch stand offs, simple enough.

You can always try the gate strat. Wait by 1 of the gates (I normally use Wake Up as well) and instantly work on it. So its a 50% chance, if he picks the wrong gate he loses. Or if the hatch is far away from the gate, its 100%

End Game Collapse is one of the best changes this game has ever had. If the hatch is closed, you then have the ability to open an exit gate, it's not like you're just stuck there to die now. Be stealthy and find a way to get the exit open. I've had games where I shut the hatch and the survivor manages to get out because I'm running back and forth between the exit gates trying to find them and they get it one open while I'm at the other one. And sometimes I get to them before they get it open. Because ya know, you can't win every single game.

So it's not enough we can't grab you at the hatch anymore

it's not enough that the hatch still spawns with 5 gens undone.

    Typical

The funniest thing is when you get the last survivor in your grasp and you make it look like you are taking them to the hatch.. then drop them just in front.. then close the hatch on them.

    Funniest thing ever.

Closing the hatch balances a survivor that has peeped the location and is camping or the maps tracking the hatch. I played for awhile before i knew you could close it.

Necro or not, people seriously complained about this? Hatch standoff were terrible for the game and honestly, the hatch mechanic is still badly designed
