Robbed by marth's own bad play, I guess.

RIP is a bit much. It was one loss. A loss they deserved because of bad play but still just 1 loss.I hope they man up and own it now.
This, he made a bad play and it cost them and people need to stop making excuses for it. If it was the other way around the Marth club would be saying the exact opposite.

He got screwed. They modified the rules after the match, it's right there on the vods for all to see. Not surprised BHVR is taking the side of the eSports company, it'd be bad business if they slammed somebody they have a contract with. I hope they don't have a longterm contract with that company.

BHVR just so fricking cheap it's sad. Like just give 5k to both teams since they had such clueless people run the tournament. It's a tiny amount of money.

I hope they don't have a longterm contract with that company. No, the rules were pretty clear and since the hatch hand't opened before they were both there the killer being there 1st didn't apply. He made an assumption and it cost him. Had he waited he could have grabbed them the moment they tried to jump in and instead he swung and messed up.
The Depip apologists blame it on this one thing that was his fault and ignore all the other mistakes Depip squad made when they could've already wrapped it up before that match. all you people are doing is making it look like a whinefest because your side screwed up not once but multiple times when they could've won earlier.
I understood the rule pretty clearly and had I been there i'd have waited as the killer, no different than in my games. I don't assume anything. It doesn't matter how much you rant and rave it doesn't change the fact that Marth and Depip made mistakes and that's on them. If the roles were reversed and this had gone in Depips favor you'd be saying the same BHVBR and pretty much all the non fanboys are saying.
I personally like Marth but in this case he didn't get screwed..

Yeah they lost.
Deserved as well. I like Marth, but he thinks he's the end all be all, but he's not.
He's got some great views, but some of it is very ironic.

The only thing that BHVR checked for was if the other team cheated. (I guess lag switching does not count because the other team did lag switch) So it did come down to SpaceEsports changing the rules on marth making him lose. Which is why I made this video

Thank god BHVR sorted this ######### out quick before some apologiest convinced them you can have a hatch stand off on a closed hatch.
Still blows my ######### mind.5 -

The thing that blows my mind is a whole bunch of people looked at this post and might have even posted a comment before even watching the video. Shame I put effort into that video.

The other team blatantly violated the 10-minute rule, but sure, they lost "fair and square".

Your lies aren't fooling anybody anymore.
Marth lost.
IIRC, the rule explicitly stated "no exceptions". Nice try, though.

I'm glad SOME decision was made and this was addressed....but more importantly how much BHVR could have "learned".
In the future please have hosts who actually play the game and know the mechanics.
It was weird the callers didn't know some basic mechanics about the killers.
And that Valhalla garbage? I mean they could have used something regarding the entity.. but oh yeah.. they didn't know enough about the game to know this...As for the De Pip Squad... I like watching them in tourneys. I watch Marth on twitch a bunch and learned some stuff. Mistakes happen.. losing is a part of life. Maybe next time.

I love Marth, but the way he has been acting since this happened has turned me off. Sub to him, gift subs to his channel, bits and the whole 9 yards. I will see in the coming weeks if he can turn it around, but as it stands I won't be supporting this type of behavior.

@Shipthebread outta curiosity, has Marth really taken this lost that hard?
Haven't watch his streams in a while so I'm outta of the loop.

I wouldn't say so, but he clearly has been bitter and resentful and acting like he has been wronged. Which to me shows poor sportsmanship, if you ever played sports in your life, you know sometimes calls don't go your way and things happen but you need to get up wipe the dirt off and move ahead, what happened has happened. To keep talking about it etc.. I find it's in poor taste.

@Shipthebread Yeah I get what you mean. Used to play basketball and card tournaments so I guess I'm used to this sort of thing.

The NFL has had this happen every season for the last couple of years with the catch rule. They fixed the language to make it less vague but the refs ruled on it, it's final. Move on.

He got all defensive when I told him that he ######### up by not letting the ref enforce the hatch standoff rule. Then he tries to give me every BS excuse in the book for why he lost. I ran tournaments for almost 10 years. You can't pull a fast one on me. He made a very amateur mistake, one that no professional gamer would EVER make, and he got all pissy when I told him that.
I'm going to put this next part in bold so anyone reading that has never been in a video game tournament understands:
If a stalemate situation exists in the game, and there is a rule regarding such a situation, when the stalemate occurs YOU DO NOTHING. You sit there and wait for the ref to make a ruling. YOU DO NOT DO WHAT MARTH DID AND ASSUME THAT THE GAME IS OVER AND THE RULE WILL GIVE YOU THE WIN. Even if you are right, that is not your call to make.
You are a player, not a ref. I've seen people lose in almost the exact same way as Marth many many times. Why do they lose? Because they don't let the ref make the call. They keep playing, and in real video game tournaments that's seen as a live action. In baseball, the pitcher doesn't get to call his own strikes. EVEN IF IT IS CLEARLY 100% NO DOUBT A ######### STRIKE, only the ref can actually call it a strike.
Marth doesn't want to own up to the fact he made the most nooby mistake people make in eSports, and that's self-officiating. It doesn't matter what the rule says, if he continued playing before the refs made a call that's means anything that happens is a result.

Honestly, this is a pretty irrelevant post. This matter was discussed long ago and there is no need to bring it back. Everyone will have its own opinion on this and they are not going to change it.0

That was a point I was trying to make to other people here. If you played sports you would know. You play till the whistle you don't assume things. He didn't play till the whistle.

Right and we all can have sympathy for him and his team and say man that sucks. But to mope about and blame others and have BHVR review the results etc... etc.. now I find he looks kind of like a bit of a baby. I like him a lot, but I have been quite turned off by all of this

@Shipthebread To think Marth has ever played sports is laughable
Go check out Zubat on Twitch. Best killer all round, hands down. Owns his mistakes and there's lots to learn from him. I got turned off Marth a long time ago because he made a mistake in game and didn't own it..just blamed the game like he could do no wrong. Just like what happened in this tournament.

With not many people playing killer on stream these days, I watch anyone who is online so Zubat is certainly one of them. I agree he does own his own mistakes. I do also believe Zubat's take on the Tourney was that Marth made a mistake.
I won't assume someone's experience in the sporting world, but I suppose my point remains for anyone who has played anything in a competitive manner. You don't assume things, if he felt he was wronged, okay, say BHVR is looking into it (like he did) but now that it didn't go your way, move on, say they reviewed it and thats that. Now I feel like it's just sour grapes

One of the team (de-pip aids) was here trying to defend the mistake and convince people that a hatch standoff begins when the hatch ISN'T open.. a few other morons too. Anyone with a brain knew he'd ######### up. Sour grapes doesn't come close to it.

The hatch doesn't need to be open. The state of the hatch was never a listed part of the criteria.

Exactly, human error is natural and he assumed. We can safely say we all assume, and he hasn't really been coached about this stuff like say a LOL or DOTA official professional. It does suck making one mistake and losing $5000. Hopefully he just moves on and learns from it like a smart person.

The tournament should have been played on the PTB with the Hatch closing option enabled. And then they wouldn't have needed a bullshit pseudo rule to handle it.

someone explain to me what happened or link me to some vids cuz im interested in the gossip
SPILL. THE. TEA.

Geez, what happened to make everyone so angry?

Everyone keeps bringing up this sports nonsense. You know what happens in the NFL? If a call is questioned, they review the play and give the reason for a decision. The Devs' statement if like an NFL ref running out onto the field after reviewing a play and stating, "The defending team isn't on steroids. The call on the field stands."0

Wait what? They really let them cheat by using a lag switch?
Yes of course they did. Have you read this thread Lyric? The whole thing is, Depip squad lost and have not been able to accept that. If it's not something about lag switches, it's that hatch standoff's can start before the hatch is open, to the fact that well the game was supposed to have been over so they didn't lose and Space Esports robbed them.
They lost, cried, BHVR reviewed, determined they still lost, they still cry.
