The "good killer" rules book
Ok, so, I've been playing this a lot, and I believe this is the ultimate "Good Killer" rules book, and by Good Killer I mean, a killer who gets 3 or 4 out of 4 kills per game and DOESN'T GET HATE MESSAGES AFTERWARDS regarding his gameplay style.
1° No camping, never, not even when the gates are open. For me, camping means keeping your terror radious within the hooked survivor or even a little bit further, but still close enough for others not to have a chance at escaping. If you manage to kill 3 or 4 players without having to do this, for me, you're a great killer.
2° No tunneling, which means never to focus the same survivor, if he's unhooked and you accidentally hit him (cause we all know that survivor who runs right into you even when they're injured... dummies... Lol) just teabag him with ghostface and let him live. If you are close enough to see the unhooking progress, just focus on the hero and let the hooked one escape. ¿Can you still get 3 or 4 out of 4 survivors using this rule?
3° If a surviror disconnects (usually the first one to get downed in early stages of the game is the one who does this) stand still until the others get a generator done. ¿Getting harder isn't it?
Do you have another rule you can add to this ones?
Have you gotten 3/4 or 4/4 by playing like this?
DBD forever!
EDIT: I'm killer main, and yes, I play like this every game and still get 4/4 every game... This is not a "must do" rules book, this is for you to get better as a killer and let others enjoy the game whyle being OP AH. Try getting 4/4 playing like this, you're gonna have a hard game mate! Enjoy!

No slugging not even when the survivor is at a pallet. Pick them up and let their friend stun you, this is fair and fun gameplay.

I stuck rigidly to these rules and more for the first cluster of months where I got most of my play-time. I didn't even place traps under hooks(I was a Trapper-main) or use builds that were thought to be quasi-exploits like 'the machine-gun build'. It didn't help one bit.
The post-game chat wasn't in the game back then, but not a single session each evening went without me being invited to Steam groups with names like 'the no-skill killers club'.
12 -
5) Kiss survivors in the ass and hand-walk them out of trial, cause if they didnt have "fun", i.e. escaped with tbaging in the gates, they will accuse you in tunneling/camping/gen camping, calling you names.
P.S. Stop making threads with survivor's rules how Killer should play.
29 -
Never press any advantage. The gist of the rulebook is that you are supposed to make the game as easy as possible for the survivors and apply as little pressure as possible. Thus, if you can still win, you're "good".
7 -
I have a better book:
1) Turn off chat. Survivors don't deserve to pollute your inbox with ######### unless you want to let the salt mines flow.
2) Pitch that tent and camp like you're Bear Grylls in the Alaskan Wilderness. To survivors, being in the same map as them is camping. Hell, playing in the same region as them is camping. You'd be amazed how you turn games around by standing your ground on the neck of a survivor.
3) If a survivor disconnects (which is often), show no mercy to the rest. It's not your fault their buddy had better things to do. Maybe let one live if the rest followed suit.
4) Tunnel like you're Andy Dufresne about to have your first taste of freedom from stupid survivor rules. The game penalizes you for being efficient as it is, if they can gen rush, you can victim rush.
5) What Frozenscum said.
23 -
Good Killers only have one single rule
KILL THEM ALL BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!!!
😛
17 -
Or just don't play the game. The less amount of whiny survivors, the better.
6 -
When any survivor team goes toxic. You have to penalize the fallowing team in the next match..
When somebody runs the same "bigger" loop more than 1 time. Tunnel him for this.
He decided to take so much of your time. So you have to get this time back from his team XD.
When you lose a match witch a mediocre killer, then go enrage next match with some op a***hole build (I use Russian roulette spirit)...
2 -
-
6) Never close Hatch. EGC is so unfair now. How can you escape when the Killer can cross the map in 3s (assuming high rank Nurse, Billy, Spirit) and you are so unlucky the gates spawned beside each other?
0 -
@Mänzel If someone blinds you, face camp him. Tunnel the guy with the key! And of cause: Camp the **** who destroys your precious Ruin. Be Wraith or Freddy, wait for the survivor to come to the hatch and close it in his face.
3 -
I don't really agree with most of these rules because I feel they're just perpetuated by entitled survivors who want easy wins.
That being said I'm not heartless, I don't camp because it's a poor strategy and I usually don't tunnel.
I only tunnel if it's a toxic survivor like a flashlight clicking tea-bagging Nea or some #########. That mess deserves to get hunted down and destroyed.
I give the hatch to survivors if everyone else disconnects or if they earned it by playing well.
Generally if the survivors play dirty, I play dirty too.
6 -
Personally I tend to play like this and I found it makes it more enjoyable for me. Not tryharding allows you to laugh at stupid stuff and if you "loose" it's because you gave them more chance so it's way less frustrating. Overall it feels more a game than a competition.
6 -
Dude. Stalk myers with 4m terror radius to 99% and hide near the hook. When he's getting unhooked pop t3 and down both XD.
3 -
@Carlosylu Change that profile picture this instant and use a survivor one, no killer that respect him/herself follow those silly rules. We don't care about survivors' feelings or fun. Personally I collect their salty messages on my Steam profile, those are my trophies.
8 -
7) Also don't actually do your job 'cause it makes you a tryhard. I believe I've even been flamed once about breaking too many pallets.. xD
I'm going to say this now 'cause I feel like it - you're not getting paid by BHVR, or anyone, to provide entertainment for some random people, you've paid BHVR to be given the fun so take it in any form you want it.
4 -
I'm gonna disregard your rules and make my own.
1) Kill all Survivors mercilessly, use their whining as fuel for the next match.
2) Repeat step 1.
9 -
Killers do not need to live by a rule book to succeed or even be considered “good.” C’mon now.
I could tell you right now, you could sit back and let every survivor escape or kill all 4 of them without camping or tunneling and there are high chances you’ll receive a rage message afterwards regardless. “EZ” or “Trash. Why camp?”
DBD is a competitive multiplayer game. Unfortunately people get butthurt and blinded by their pride, taking a video game so far up the ass, that they feel the need to message someone afterward to stir up ######### since there’s no in-game chat to do so. I just troll them and move on. :-)
4 -
Awwww, cutie... I'm killer main, this rules are for us to have harder and more enjoyable games, and still, using this rules I get 4/4 almost every game... I guess not everybody can win using this manual...
1 -
You can be the nicest killer in the world and you will still get abuse thrown at you. At the end of the day play the way which you have fun because regardless if you're a toxic killer or a kind killer survivors are still going to be hateful.
6 -
I don't know, in my experience (xbox) the hate messages have been downed practically to 0, I get 4/4 survivors 9/10 games and they have nothing to say afterwards cause they aint got S to say about me not letting them enjoy too, I've even got GG messages and one "OMG dude! You're OP!"

8) Go to forums and lick own balls, pretending to be godly Killer.
Everybody can win with these "rules" when you play against survivors who do not play optimally.
More of that, I can win with no perks and Merciless, but I'm not bragging about it on forums making threads with some made-up "rules"
5 -
In case you didn't know, the game is hard enough for killers as it is. Even moreso if you're not playing with a top tier killer. If you like to handicap yourself to appease your opponents more power to you. Just don't expect others to do the same.
4 -
I saw your other thread with you playing at rank 15 in the middle of season and 60 devotion level. I assume you've never been above rank 10, or even above rank 12, so you have no idea how survivors can crash even top tier Killers who made 1-2 wrong decisions.
Once you will reach certain level of skill and climb higher in ranks - your idealistic vision of game will change drastically.
When you will face loopers who can run you for 5 gens if you stubborn enough to commit and who will tbag you on every pallet.
When you face SWF teams with 2 BNP toolboxes
When you face teams with 4 instaheals, which prolongs every chase double.
When you face genrush teams with prove and leader
When you face teams packed with second chance perks
When you face teams with balanced landing with haddonfield offering when you literally can't reach survivor in infinite loops
Before making threads gain some game experience and reach red ranks to feel all abovesaid. We'll see what you will say then.
Just for you, to keep you at ground. Last game of mine. No perks (well, deerstalker, just cause I dont like to run around and look for last slug, wasting both our time). Iridescent chaser with 0% proximity to hooked. Unfortunately map wasn't too friendly to protect gens at start of trial, also one of them had Prove Thyself.
3 -
What do you mean rank 12, that stuff happens as soon as you hit green rank
2 -
I'm an ocasional player, and I really hope I can get up to those ranks to experience for myself, but I don't have enough time to play that much... For now, in my actual rank (I usually stay around 12 to 15 before it gets restarted), I actually enjoy playing by this rules.
1 -
Under these circumstances though, you only 'win' if the survivors are absolutely terrible. For that reason, I am working under the presumption that you're being sarcastic.
5 -
Well, to reach red ranks you need to play efficiently and optimally.
You need to punish survivors for unsafe unhooks by slugging unhooked one to waste time of third survivor while you chasing and downing unhooker.
You need to abandon chases at long loops and infinites, you need to choose proper strategy according to survivors actions.
You need to have no mercy for survivors who performed badly and put themselves at last hook in first couple of minutes.
You need to tunnel and proxy camp sometimes when team is over-altruistic and swarm near hook.
You need to prevent gen splitting during trial as much as possible.
You need to recognize situations when you better spend some extra time carrying survivor to further hook to have position when you can guard hook+gen or totem to force survivors off other gens to get unhook working together.
You do NOT need much time to get into red ranks, you need your games be profitable every time.
Even if you will 1 pip each game with occasional 2 pips, you need to win 50 games to reach rank 4 from rank 15. With average game of 10 minute you need 500 minutes in month to get red rank, which is 16 minutes per day.
So, when you stop making rules for yourself which actually benefit opposing team, you will probably experience all that fun stuff I wrote before.
8 -
When I play killer, my rules are:
1) I don't camp (I'd rather survivors got rescued so I can hook them again and get more emblem points).
2) I try to avoid tunnelling, but if survivors take someone off the hook when I'm right there, I'll hit whoever I can reach. If I come across the person who was rescued and have no other target, then I will try to catch and hook them again.
3) If a player DC's, the game carries on as normal. When 2 or more DC, I will happily farm with whoever is left, so we at least get some points out of it. Wherever possible, I'd be happy to hook everyone twice before trying to sacrifice players - unfortunately, it just doesn't always work out that way.
4) I will try to play fair and if I don't managed to sacrifice everyone (or even anyone) so long as I had a fun game and got the chance to earn some points and perhaps pip up, I'm fine.
5) When survivors decide to be toxic, then the rules get thrown out of the window and anything goes. I have dragged players out of the exit area and hooked them because they stayed too long to teabag and give me the run around. I will also initiate end game collapse if after doing the gens the players don't look to leave - should have gone for the totems and chests beforehand.
6) After the game, any salty messages are ignored. Any rude/sweary/insulting messages are reported and the player is blocked.
Ultimately, it's just a game and despite playing the killer, I do want to play fair so everyone has fun and gets their points (especially while the extra blood point events are on). I've been told before that I'm far too nice to play as killer; maybe they are right.
3 -
problem is..
they changed the ranking system so that you don't pip unless you play by these made up survivor rules.
kills mean nothing now, killers are NOT killers anymore, they are fun keepers for survivors, who BTW will go out of their wy too ensure that the killer will have zero fun..ironic eh
8 -
Certainly seems that way. Had a match yesterday where I felt like giving up entirely after the toxicity of the survivors. Started EGC after they refused to open the doors (they were hunting for totems and chests). They ran about and tea bagged, but then I laughed myself silly when I found the last (injured survivor) who could have got out with the others but was evidently hunting for the hatch, gave up and raced to the still closed exit but ran out of time and got swallowed by the entity. Serve them right!
1 -
OMG! This is actually true! I had an easy match yesterday where survivors kept running towards me by accident whyle me being Michael Myers and I got almost no bloodpoints for killing them way too fast! WTH is going on with this game! I like playing by the rules I posted in this topic, but that match got me mad!
0 -
Oh my god, stop making up rules. Just play the game and do whatever helps you win.
0 -
here is my rule:
4° dont give a ######### about the first 3 rules and play the game the way you want to play it. if your succesfull, it worked, if your not succesfull, you might want to change your strategy.
now, regarding the first 3 rules:
1) camping: i agree that its not necessary to do so, but being within a 32m range to the hook (base TR size) is not camping. camping is when you stay very close to the hook with the intention to not let the survivor escape.
2) tunneling: as sad as this may be, this is literally an requirement for any low - mid tier killer to stand a chance in high ranks. dont tunnel and get genrushed. yes, you may have 3 ppl on their deathhook and kill one of them when the gates are powered, but that does not reward yo uwith the needed emblems to win.
3) yeah, because its my fault this dude can not accept a defeat. i can agree on giving the last one the hatch, if the game was fun, but just allowing them to do a gen? no.
do me a favor and dont try to tell players how to play this game. you can do whatever you want, some things pay off and some do not. if you want to play with that rule set, no problem. but dont tell others they have to play with it when they want to be a "good killer". thanks.
2 -
A rule should be pay attention to the survivors. You never know what's coming your way especially at the end.
0 -
I have my own personal rules I follow as killer no camping and no tunneling, but generally the only one that's broken is the no tunneling since when I get back to the hook if your the only one still there well imma hit ya you dont get a free pass. Same when I play Pig your RBT does not give you a free pass if I run across ya.
My biggest rule is if everyone, but you in the lobby is ready you got 10 seconds till I bring a mori and I'm happy to use it.
0 -
You dont need to play by these "rules" if you want to pip. Here is Trapper gameplay without any crutch perks like Ruin, NOED, etc. You need to play efficiently, that it. Ofc you cant have pip in all games, but playing by your own rules raise your chances a lot.
@Carlosylu Maybe you'll find some useful stuff in vid for yourself.

When i first started playing DBD you could play as this so called "good killer" as still have a good time. If you avoided toxic gameplay as killers the survivors would do the same and you could exchange nice messages with each other. Not anymore the number of times i've tried to send a killer a nice message after the game had ended only to find that they've turned off messages. Don't camp get called a camper, chase your first survivor and get called a tunneler, let the last guy leave and be told you suck, drop down some BPS and everyone runs to infinite loop points. People have ruined this game like we ruin everything else.
1 -
Good survivor rules book:
- Dont use pallets
- Dont loop break a chase instead.
- Dont camp the hook
- Dont sit on gens non stop
5 -
If 2-3 gens pop and BBQ tells me the other 3 are on gens, I'm camping. You just ruined my ability to 3 hook everyone. 2 things can happen now. 1. They finish the gens and I kill the hooked and another before everyone leaves or 2. Everyone swarms the hook, I get repeated hooks and by the time someone gets away, I just killed 2 people and now will probably 4 man because of pressure and hunting down the 3rd while the 4th looks for hatch. Camping is a legit strategy and I'll do what I need to win. Either way, that team will talk #########. At least it's because I crushed them instead of being a whipping boy for their "fun".
2 -
@Mänzel Oh yes!
And never Tombstone the * who wait for you at the exit gates. They just want to say Good bye!
Never use Franklin's Demise. This damages a precious Item!
And of cause: Never ever bodyblock. Especially with Billy, Bubba or 99% EWIII Myers.
1 -
"who gets 3 or 4 out of 4 kills per game and DOESN'T GET HATE MESSAGES AFTERWARDS regarding his gameplay style " those two things don't go together... something in this doesn't belong.
3 -
Me... A lot... But it may be cause I'm rank 12, I don't know about higher ranks...
0 -
Nope - I rarely get anyone complaining about my gameplay style. Even had a few 'GG'. But then I don't camp and try to avoid tunnelling if possible - though if the unhooked survivor is daft enough to hang around they go back on the hook. I've only ever had two salty comments when playing as killer: one calling me a Noob (which was accurate) and one complaining because I initiated EGC and managed to hook him with half the time bar gone. He still got rescued, and escaped - and as they'd been a royal pain in the butt the whole game, I really didn't care.
0 -
Yeah I'm not doing any of this because that isn't my job. We are killers. We are the bad guys, the villains. I want to have the feeling of being a vicious murderer and they typical don't do things that make no sense. That's my power fantasy when it comes to playing DBD.
As a person who enjoys playing competitively and winning I prefer to base my skills around my record and the fact that I use every thing the game provides me. I expect my opponents to do the same as to expect anything less than that is unrealistic to me. I refuse to impose limitations for the sake of "fair play" in this game when I'm not being unfair to begin with and when I did play by these ridiculous rules I still got ######### talked. I played through games doing their "fair play" rules and they certainly didn't play in the same "fair and fun" way.
This stuff is just low grade brainwashing to keep people who want to play killer limited to what a vocal minority of survivors feel they can easily handle. The worst part is it works extremely well because you have other killers blindly repeating this stuff to new players and making them feel like their going to get in trouble or that they won't get better at the game by just playing the game as it is. Just play as your instincts and skill lead you to play.
3 -
@ReikoMori That's why I see this thread as a satiric post.
2 -
The Killer's 10 Commandments:
1) Thou shalt not let Survivors unhook their mate for free.
2) Thou shalt not honor the 4%.
3) Thou shalt not give the last the Hatch.
4) Thou shalt not have mercy upon a recently unhooked Survivor.
5) Thou shalt not let them tell thee what to do and not to do.
6) Thou shalt not be afraid of using strong Killers or builds.
7) Punish toxic Survivors, for they are not worthy to get more points.
8) Thou shalt Mori them.
9) Thou shalt not let the Survivors' salt spoil thy games.
10) Thou shalt not let them escape.
3 -
1- Don't use two green/purple/pink addons
2- Mori are good for collection so don't use them
3- Don't play ruin with top tiers killer ( Nurse/Billy/Rin)
1 -
It's totally bullshit this survivors's rules for killers, made by survivors who doesn't wants to lose. I'm a killer dude, so what do you think i'll am? the thing which make me diferent it's me i'm mercyless. I'm playing mainly RP and if i'm a killer(mainly the case) i'll be mercyless and crual. Example for you guys, i playing the hog-main and i love give to survivors a little bear game and watching out their game. If they failed one time to free up, they're hooked up, otherwelse, i let him for a moment.
And i remember one time, survivors had real fun with me, 'cause i'm a great killer (great for me and for them) 'cause i bleed out them and i let some hope for them.
Remind this comrades: here my rulesbook for killers:
1-Death isn't the real reward, as a killer you must sniff the blood's smell of their wounds.
2-Don't camping 'cause otherwise you block their hopes. And a killer don't destroy hope, at least not in early game. A killer drink survivors' hopes.
3-If a survivor succeeded to escape you, let him go for a while, to give him some hope and go chase another one.
4-Prioritizes altruism's survivors, they have the most hope in them.
5-If it remain only one survivor while the gates are closed, Let down him, and see him crawling and searching some hope
6-And the last one, let's have fun !!

HA!! I LAUGH!! (Idc if you killer mains are getting sick of me saying this sentence because I always say this sentence when something is heavily stupid).
