Can you earn killers in game.
I apologise for the lack of knowledge but I am seriously considering buying DBD (on PS4) I have been following it for some time now on Twitch and YouTube but I stopped when I realised how many killers are paid DLC. Can some be earned in game and is it easy/reasonable. Double also does this apply to Legion?

Most killers can be bought for shards, which are earned through gameplay.
And yes, Legion can be bought for shards.

Ignore the people giving you a hard time for wanting to buy Legion. You can get him with iridescent shards. Could take a little while to save up (could be wrong but I think it's around 9k shards for a killer) so it could take a few weeks of regular play.

Each non licensed killer can be bought through the in game currency known as shards which are earned after each match played and cost 9k.
The exceptions are the chapters with Pig, Myers, Freddy, Leatherface and Ghostface.
It can take anywhere from 30-50 hours depending on how well you do.
Check the dbd wiki for the full list it's a great site for information.
Ignore the above DBD is a highly fun game which is hard at the start as it has a steep learning curve but it gets you hooked if you stick with it.
The game is more of a fun casual experience but some see it as overly competative.

What the Legion matters, so I can only give you the advice to read about the Legion in this forums, before you buy this dlc. So that you actually know what you will buy, since the Legion advertisment shows a different picture to what is reality.
Imo, the Spirit, Hag, or Meyers would be a better alternative.
Besides that, you can buy every killer with a ingame currency - if they are not licensed (what means, that you still have to by with real world money Meyers, Pig and I believe also Ghostface [correct me someone if I am wrong with the last one]).

You don't know how many people I have already read that regret their purchase of the Legion, especially new players that had as only information source the 2 Legion dlc videos on YouTube.
By Meyers, Spirit, or Hag he can make nothing wrong, since their advertisement videos are accurate, far as I remember.

It's on sale with a bunch of DLCs now so its a perfect time to purchase it. As much as this community pisses and moans, we are still here playing. Even with the bugs it's a fun game.
You can purchase all the non-licensed DLC's through playtime... but it is a bit of a grind.

You'll need to play a TON TO get enough shards to unlock a new character for free, but if you like the game it's worth it
On PS4 you also get some killers for free that would have to be paid on PC
There are also licensed characters, those from movies, that are only possible to pay with real money or Auric Cells (Premium currency)
