So what about the Clown?
Since Freddys snares now do the same thing as the bottle there is no real reason to play Clown anymore considering Freddy has other advantages to him too.
Clown buff when?

They're pretty slow with Buffs to killers, My guess is a long time away.
A lot of the killers just need some number changes to be viable. I find it shocking that it takes so long.

I'd argue that Freddy actually does the Clown better than the Clown does if placing snares really doesn't slow him down the way Clown throwing bottles does.

There was never a real reason to play Clown, since the beginning.
Other than liking the character design, that is.

The major difference is that Clown's bottles have range. For some people and playstyles, that'll be a major boon compared to Freddy, for others it'll be a negligible difference. If the addons adjusting the snares aren't as prolific as Clown's, that'll be a way of differentiating too.

Clown does still have the blinding and deafening effects from his bottles, the massive area that the gas effects, as well as the ability to use it in the moment (or at a great distance) while Freddy would more likely plan his snares around where he believes they will be needed.
Freddy could also put a snare at a loop while he's in the chase just as Clown might throw a bottle down, but the trap does take a moment to arm and it appears that it will be slower than quickly smashing a bottle. This is all without mentioning that a survivor has to be asleep to be affected by his snares.
Freddy also has more map mobility, more mind games, more stealth... Overall I think they're different killers and comparing the two isn't quite fair. They will both continue to have their uses and varying play styles.

2.4.0 and 2.5.0 - was a ######### joke
2.6.0 - was a ######### joke but better Legion Era
2.7.0 - was ok
