Survivor squads swarming the hook instantaneously

Had a Spirit game earlier today, two survivors with flashlights. I hooked one guy and all three were swarming me like locusts literally the second their friend got hooked (like, they were crouching right underneath me). Half the game lasted at this area as we played Musical Hooks.

Flashlighters got exactly one save because I forgot to look at a wall during one pickup in all the chaos, but other than that they whiffed their blinds, and spam-clicked from across pallets like their lives depended on it. I killed them all, and the last guy disconnected just as I downed him.

Why do people do this? I mean, the game was successful on my end, I guess, since I got them all and pipped. But it's the most aggravating kind of stupid behavior. I feel like they were barely playing; I think they MIGHT have finished 1 gen. Why would you EVER swarm the hook immediately?
