Don't increase gen times, make gens harder to do and more interactive.

I think gens need a new mechanic besides pressing m1 and space occasionally. Make it more of a tetris or puzzle game where we move objects around to fit in place to get more progress on a generator. If the gens were more interactive it would also make it harder for survivors to focus on a gen and keep an eye on the killer.

No. If I wanted a puzzle game, there are plenty of options out there for a puzzle game. I don't enjoy them, and don't need that kind of nonsense put into DBD.

I just suggested tetris as a baseline, something mechanically simple, but I just want something that's more interactive that m1 and occasional space. Also something that takes more attention can make the playing survivor have more skill because right now survivor has an incredibly low skill cap. And not just gens, totems, chests, and healing they can all have more interaction.

OP just gave an example, he didn't say IMPLEMENT THIS, stop being so mean, people... Btw I agree with you, gens being harder and more interactive is exactly what we need. Increasing gen repair time would be an enormous mistake because if gens are already boring with 80sec imagine with more than that.

Eh gen time should just increase cause if you have to find gasoline cans or something Franklin's would be op and most survs arent smart

Skillchecks similar to the ones in F13 would be good.

Personally, I dont enjoy Puzzlegames at all.

But other than that, I see a major problem with that:

It might be manageable for experienced players, but, once they are used to it, it gets boring as well.

And new players might find it too complicated. Honestly, if I would have been a new player and I really would have to do quite difficult tasks to complete the Objective, I would probably not play this game.

@akbays35 It's not relevant whether it's Tetris or another puzzle game. I don't want to see any kind of puzzle games in DbD. You'd like to have them, but I want a 2nd objective instead. That's personal taste.

Also, as I wrote above, I am convinced that for the majority of players, a puzzle game mechanic will get tiring soon and it would make doing gens mentally exhausting for those players who play DbD a lot. It would surely drive me away from gens.

Variety is the spice of life. I wouldn't mind trading out gens entirely for an entirely new system. Or perhaps add more things necessary to complete a match.

Example for second one: 2 special fragments are hidden around the map somewhere and they must be collected. Collecting these fragments will enable you to bring down the entity's barrier on the door locks. The pedestals where these fragments are placed are in two places. one in the central building and one in a random location a certain number of tiles away.

simple enough in theory, Complete gens as normal....and keep an eye out for a fragment. (only 1 is needed to complete the barrier dissolving.) find fragment before last gen pops hopefully, dissolve barrier, open gates/hatch, leave.)

It will probably need some tweaking, but it's an idea to keep the current system and still add on to it.

I like this idea, the game must evolve, it must not always be the same ... something like this would make a bit more fun and more amazing the games as a survivor. In addition to lengthen the games.

Long ago, I suggested something that wouldn't require any big implementations: simply make objectives personal. TL;DR, each survivor goes in and has to complete a certain number of objectives to be able to escape. We already have plenty of interactions and events that could be used for this (totems, generators, chases, etc.). Survivors who have not completed their objectives cannot escape nor open the exit gates.

It would also solve the gen rush issue, since, RNG aside, survivors wouldn't have a shared objective that they can work on simultaneously.

I always imagined this would be pretty neat for Generators in DbD, to have to actually reconnect the wires like in the intro...

It's 2:32, in case it doesn't jump to that timestamp.

@Boss Try doing that with a controller.

So then console will have a different minigame. 😊

@Boss Do you think the devs would implement different minigames for the platforms?

I don't think they would do any minigames at all, i only shared what i would like.

If generators are more difficult to do, people will still adapt to do them at a really fast speed. I think having to find something which enables you to do repairs would be a good idea. Like a wrench or something.

If not that them have it so you have to destroy an entity growth on the generator to start repairs in the first place.

So each gen would have been covered by entity vines or something you need to pull apart to gain access to the gen.
